Qatar Boat Show 2026 from Nov 4

Held under the patronage of His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, the 3rd Qatar Boat Show 2026 will take place from November 4-7.The organisers at a press briefing Tuesday at Raffles Doha, revealed that major leading marine brands and industry experts will participate in the event contributing to strengthening Qatar's position as a leading destination in the global maritime sector.The CEO of Old Doha Port and chairman of the Organising Committee for Qatar Boat Show, Mohammed Abdullah al-Mulla, said: "The Qatar Boat Show was launched based on a firm belief in the ability of Qatar to add exceptional value to the maritime sector globally and Old Doha Port is the ideal place to embody this vision.""The campaign slogan, "Crafting Wonderful," embodies the identity and message of the show, in which the rich maritime heritage is shaped, relationships and partnerships are formed, and the finest experiences are created along one of the most important waterfronts in the region," he added.According to him, the previous edition of the exhibition attracted more than 27,000 visitors from 105 countries, and witnessed the participation of 65 boats and marine vessels, with a total value of QR 880mn.Mohamed al-Atwaan, chief operating officer of Old Doha Port and the show director, emphasised the event has evolved rapidly to become a recognised name internationally.“Qatar Boat Show has moved beyond establishing itself,” he said. “We became a platform, a well-known, well-positioned platform in the region and even globally.”According to al-Atwaan, the show’s success is underpinned by growing confidence from international exhibitors and visitors. “They believe in Qatar Boat Show as a platform to display their latest technologies in terms of the yachting industry, fishing boats and fishing equipment,” he noted, highlighting the diversity of offerings."The strong response to the 2024 and 2025 editions has played a key role in shaping this year’s ambitions. The positive feedback that we got is reflected now on our preparations for 2026,” he said, adding that organisers aim to build on this momentum.Al-Atwaan stressed that the show has quickly positioned itself among leading regional and global events. “In two years or two editions, we became one of the well-known platforms with the trust of international companies continuously participating,” he remarked.Central to the 2026 edition is its newly unveiled campaign theme, “Crafting Wonderful”, which reflects a broader vision for the event. “This is reflected in whatever we do for the boat show,” al-Atwaan explained, citing organisation, yacht design, networking opportunities and industry agreements as key elements.Beyond the industry focus, the show is also set to expand its engagement with the wider community. He pointed to “side activities and activations that we are offering for all the community,” underlining efforts to make the event more accessible and interactive.“We are looking for a unique edition that would be better than the last two editions,” al-Atwaan added.The campaign theme embodies the essence of the Qatar Boat Show, an event that fosters creative ideas and contributes to their development and realisation. The campaign draws its meaning from the concept of "craftsmanship" in the maritime sector, symbolising a commitment to the highest standards evident in every aspect of the show.

Qatar's ports see higher container and bulk cargo movement year-on-year in January 2026

Qatar's maritime sector began 2026 on a solid note with Hamad, Doha and Al Ruwais ports witnessing a year-on-year (y-o-y) growth, particularly in the container and bulk cargo segments this January, according to Mwani Qatar.As many as 230 ships had called on Qatar's three ports in January 2026, which was lower by 8.73% and 1.77% year-on-year and month-on-month respectively.Hamad Port's strategic geographical location offers opportunities to create cargo movement towards the upper Gulf, supporting countries such as Kuwait and Iraq and south towards Oman.The container movement through three ports amounted to 128,229 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), shooting up 3.17% and 15.75% year-on-year and month-on-month respectively in the review period.Hamad Port, the largest eco-friendly project in the region, had in January seen the berthing of container ship MSC REEF, one of the largest vessels in the MSC Cargo fleet, measuring 398.4m in length and 59m in width, with a capacity of 19,224 TEUs.Its arrival reflects the high operational efficiency of Hamad Port and its readiness to receive the world’s largest container ships.The container terminals have been designed to address the increasing trade volume, enhancing ease of doing business as well as supporting the achievement of economic diversification, which is one of the most important goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030.The general cargo handled through three ports amounted to 94,626 freight tonnes in January 2026, which however, shrank 33.56% and 24.36% on yearly and monthly basis respectively. The bulk cargo handled through the three ports amounted to as much 44,675 freight tonnes in January 2026.Hamad Port's multi-use terminal is designed to serve the supply chains for the RORO, grains and livestock.The container and cargo trends through the ports reflect the positive outlook for the country's non-oil private sector.In line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, Mwani Qatar continues to implement its ambitious strategy to enhance the maritime sector's contribution to diversifying the national economy and strengthening the county's position as a vibrant regional trade hub.The three ports were seen handling 26,150 livestock in January 2026, which showed 55.53% and 8.67% contraction year-on-year and month-on-month respectively.The three ports witnessed as many as 10,151 RORO in January 2026, which registered 20.95% and 21.05% shrinkage year-on-year and month-on-month respectively.Qatar's automobile sector has been witnessing stronger sales, notably in heavy equipment, private motorcycles and private vehicles, according to the data of the National Planning Council. 

The general and bulk cargo handled through the three ports amounted to 159,480 freight tonnes in November 2025, which soared 60.51% year-on-year but fell 26.33% month-on-month, according to figures released by Mwani Qatar.

Robust cargo and container movements keep Qatar maritime sector busy in November

Indicating robust trade and growth in the maritime sector, Qatar reported strong year-on-year expansion in cargo and container movements through Mesaieed, Doha and Al Ruwais ports in November 2025, according to the official data.The general and bulk cargo handled through the three ports amounted to 159,480 freight tonnes in November 2025, which soared 60.51% year-on-year but fell 26.33% month-on-month, according to figures released by Mwani Qatar.Hamad Port, whose multi-use terminal is designed to serve the supply chains for the RORO, grains and livestock, saw it successfully handle the heaviest cargo to-date (on November 1) as it saw discharging of a gas turbine weighing 316 tonnes from the vessel AAL Melbourne.The general and bulk cargo amounted to a cumulative 1.72mn freight tonnes in the first 11 months of this year.The container and cargo trends through the ports reflect the positive outlook for the country's non-oil private sector.The container movement through three ports amounted to 117,941 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), growing 8.22% on an annualised basis but was down 0.89% on a monthly basis in the review period.Hamad Port is the largest eco-friendly project in the region and internationally recognised as one of the largest green ports in the world.The three ports together handled as many as 1.35mn TEUs in January-November 2025.The container terminals have been designed to address the increasing trade volume, enhancing ease of doing business as well as supporting the achievement of economic diversification, which is one of the most important goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030.As many as 272 ships arrived in three ports, which reported 14.29% and 11.02% year-on-year and month-on-month respectively in November 2025.Hamad Port's strategic geographical location offers opportunities to create cargo movement towards the upper Gulf, supporting countries such as Kuwait and Iraq and south towards Oman.As many as 2,793 vessel calls were reported through the three ports in the first 11 months of this year.The three ports handled 8,475 RORO in November 2025, which registered 62.27% and 11.4% plunge year-on-year and month-on-month respectively.Qatar's automobile sector has been witnessing stronger sales, notably in heavy equipment, private motorcycles and private vehicles, according to the data of the National Planning Council.The three ports handled as many as 109,307 RORO units in January-November this year.The three ports were seen handling 50,373 livestock heads this November, which surged 81.23% and 555.73% on yearly and monthly basis respectively in the review period.The three ports together handled as many as 461,923 livestock heads during January-November 2025.The building materials traffic through the three ports stood at 9,846 tonnes in November 2025, which plunged 29.79% and 13.34% year-on-year and month-on-month respectively.A cumulative 509,277 tonnes of building materials were handled during the first 11 months of 2025.In line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, Mwani Qatar continues to implement its ambitious strategy to enhance the maritime sector's contribution to diversifying the national economy and strengthening the county's position as a vibrant regional trade hub. 

The increased maritime activities is indicative of the strong performance, especially of the non-hydrocarbons private sector and is in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, as Mwani Qatar continues to implement its ambitious strategy to enhance the sector's contribution to diversifying the economy and strengthening the county's position as a regional trade hub.

Qatar’s ports record robust performance in August; sharp upturn in ship arrivals, containers, cargoes and building materials handling

Qatar's maritime sector saw higher vessels traffic through its Hamad, Doha and Al Ruwais ports in August 2025, translating into robust expansion across containers, cargoes and building materials on both yearly and monthly basis, according to the official statistics.The increased maritime activities is indicative of the strong performance, especially of the non-hydrocarbons private sector and is in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, as Mwani Qatar continues to implement its ambitious strategy to enhance the sector's contribution to diversifying the economy and strengthening the county's position as a regional trade hub.As many as 290 ships had called on Qatar's three ports in August 2025, which was higher by 21.85% and 8.21% year-on-year and month-on-month respectively.Hamad Port, whose strategic geographical location offers opportunities to create cargo movement towards the upper Gulf, supporting countries such as Kuwait and Iraq and south towards Oman, saw as many as 165 vessels call (excluding military) on the port in the review period. The three ports had seen a total of 2,045 vessels in the first eight months of this year.The general and bulk cargo handled through the three ports amounted to 254,528 freight tonnes in August 2025, which zoomed 129.25% and 8.58% on yearly and monthly basis respectively.Hamad Port – whose multi-use terminal is designed to serve the supply chains for the RORO, grains and livestock – handled as much as 108,026 freight tonnes of bulk and 120,710 freight tonnes of breakbulk in August this year. The three ports together handled as much as 1.3mn cargoes in January-August 2025.The container movement through three ports amounted to 126,481 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), which surged 10.07% and 8.13% year-on-year and month-on-month respectively in the review period.Hamad Port, the largest eco-friendly project in the region and internationally recognised as one of the largest green ports in the world, alone handled 124,757 TEUs of containers handled this August. The three ports together handled a total of 986,240 TEUs of containers during January-August 2025.The container terminals have been designed to address the increasing trade volume, enhancing ease of doing business as well as supporting the achievement of economic diversification, which is one of the most important goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030.The building materials traffic through the three ports stood at 72,535 tonnes in August 2025, which zoomed 453.7% and 37.7% on an annualised and monthly basis respectively. The three ports together handled as much as 451,190 tonnes of building materials during the first eight months of this year.The three ports were seen handling 20,002 livestock heads in August 2025, which however showed 16.68% and 29.2% plunge year-on-year and month-on-month respectively. The ports had handled as many as 399,987 livestock heads during January-August 2025.The three ports handled 9,254 RORO in August 2025, which registered 14.35% and 27.69% contraction year-on-year and month-on-month respectively. Hamad Port alone handled 9,224 units in the review period. The three ports together handled as many as 78,869 units in the first eight months of this year.Qatar's automobile sector has been witnessing stronger sales, notably in heavy equipment, private motorcycles and private vehicles, according to the data of the National Planning Council.
