The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC)’s Marine Protection Department has removed waste dumped into the marine environment, including a cable reel, because it posed risks to maritime navigation safety and negatively affected the marine environment and marine life. The ministry co-ordinated with the relevant authorities to remove and dispose of the waste in accordance with approved procedures and methods. In the meantime, the MoECC stressed the importance of refraining from dumping waste or equipment into the sea, as such practices threaten the marine environment and navigation safety. It called on community members and sea users to co-operate with the relevant authorities and report any practices or violations that could harm the marine environment or endanger navigation safety.
