The Qatar-Sri Lanka Joint Committee on Labour held its regular meeting in Doha Monday. The meeting was co-chaired by Her Excellency Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman al-Thani and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment of Sri Lanka Arun Hemachandra. The meeting addressed the latest developments in bilateral relations in the labour sector and related matters, with particular focus on strengthening cooperation in regulating the recruitment of workers. The two sides also discussed increasing reliance on qualified and trained workers to meet the needs of Qatar’s labour market, in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030. Both sides voiced their appreciation for the strong relations between Qatar and Sri Lanka, underscoring the importance of continuing the Joint Committee’s meetings to further strengthen the strategic partnership and bilateral relations between the two countries in the labour sector, while supporting closer cooperation in the period ahead. 

His Excellency the Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Samikh al-Marri held a meeting Sunday with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo)’s ambassador to Qatar Valerie Lusamba Kabeya.HE Dr al-Marri and Kabeya discussed bilateral co-operation in the labour sector, exploring opportunities to strengthen and further develop the partnership between the two countries.
