MoEHE hosts second edition of Arabic Language Forum for private schools

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) organised Monday the second edition of the Arabic Language Forum for private schools and kindergartens. The forum is being organized this year with the slogan 'Arabic Language in Private Schools: Challenges and Opportunities,' with the participation of an elite of experts and researchers.Held under the patronage of Her Excellency Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid AlKhater, the two-day forum will give the participants the chance to discuss key themes related to curricula, teacher competencies, educational innovation, academic partnerships, and envisioning the future of the Arabic language in multilingual school environments.The forum activities include organizing development workshops that contribute to improving teaching and assessment methods in private schools, presented by specialized speakers from Arab and friendly countries, thus enriching this educational event. In his opening speech, Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Affairs at MoEHE Omar Abdulaziz al-Naama, expressed his happiness at participating in the forum opening, which brings together participants to enhance the status of the Arabic language in private schools.He expressed his belief that private schools are a strategic partner in the educational system, pointing out the ministry's keenness on global openness in them, as well as its commitment to ensuring that the Arabic language remains strongly present. The Arabic language is vessel of our identity, the symbol of our belonging, and the basic pillar in building the character of our children, he said, pointing out that, despite the challenges that we face in this field today, this forum confirms the determination to turn those into real opportunities.The forum aims to explore ways to present the Arabic language to pupils and students in a modern and attractive manner, while taking advantage of modern technologies and artificial intelligence (AI), and exchanging successful experiences that make learning Arabic not only a school duty but also a passion, he added.Al-Naama concluded his speech by affirming that the goal of this forum is to build a generation that cherishes the language's heritage and keeps pace with the contemporary demands, in order to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV 2030), expressing his gratitude to the partners, especially Qatar University (QU), and those in charge of organizing the forum.For her part, Director of Private Schools and Kindergarten Department and Acting Director of the Private School Licensing Department at MoEHE Dr Rania Yousry Mohamed, said that the forum is being organized based on the recommendations of its first edition, in addition to the approaching World Arabic Language Day, which falls on Dec 18.As part of supporting efforts to develop Arabic education, she called for encouraging schools and relevant institutions to build AI-powered Arabic digital platforms and enabling teachers to use these tools in classrooms, stressing that AI remained a supportive tool and not a substitute for human interaction in the educational process.The Arabic language is more than a tool of communication; it embodies identity and carries the richness of thought and culture. As the language of the Qur'an, nurturing its study is both a moral and intellectual imperative, Dr Rania noted.During the forum, an announcement has been made on the formation of a team to develop the Arabic language in private schools in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, in a first step that will be followed by others that include all Arab countries, considering that the GCC countries are similar in terms of identity, culture, opportunities and challenges related to child education and teaching the Arabic language in private schools.The team aims to develop a joint strategic plan to develop the Arabic language education in the GCC counties' private schools, including general objectives and key success indicators, as well as to monitor the implementation of joint programs and initiatives and measure their impact on the quality of Arabic education and learning outcomes.The team's objectives also include strengthening coordination between the Ministries of Education in the GCC countries, exchanging best practices and enhancing students' linguistic and cultural identity. The team is expected to contribute to a qualitative shift in Arabic language education in private schools and kindergartens, through the development of joint coordination, the integration of educational policies and practices, the preparation of unified professional training programs, and the implementation of pioneering research projects, ultimately leading to the establishment of an advanced Gulf model for teaching Arabic that educational institutions in the Arab world can benefit from.

MEHE launches teacher competency test in 3 compulsory subjects

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE) has launched a project to assess teacher competency in the three compulsory subjects (Arabic, Islamic, and Qatari history) in private schools and kindergartens for the 2025-2026 academic year. In a statement, the MEHE said that this strategic step aims to enhance the quality of private education and improve learning outcomes in core national subjects, noting that the project establishes a unified professional framework to ensure the implementation of compulsory curricula according to clear standards, in a way that contributes to improved teaching performance and the promotion of effective educational practices. This, in turn, enables the continuous development of the learning environment in private schools. The MEHE added that the project will be implemented through an official circular regarding the use of the electronic form, the organisation of introductory workshops for schools, and performance monitoring through periodic reports and feedback collection to ensure continuous improvement. It added that the assessment results will serve as a primary reference for professional competency reports and professional development programmes for teachers. It pointed out that this project represents a qualitative leap in the private education system, embodying Qatar's commitment to raising the quality of education and empowering teachers, thus enhancing the country's position as a leading educational destination, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, which considers investing in human capital the foundation for building an advanced knowledge-based society. **media[381502]** Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Affairs Omar Abdulaziz al-Naama affirmed that teachers are the cornerstone of the educational process. She further said that the preparation of the standards went through precise stages such as reviewing Arab and international standards and adopting the evaluation items systematically, noting that the project was subject to a pilot application in fifty schools and kindergartens, which included training specialists, conducting classroom visits and collecting feedback to enhance the realism of the standards and developing them.

Ministry of Education launches 1st edition of educational systems guide for private schools and kindergartens

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced the launch of the first edition of a guide for educational systems in private schools and kindergartens for 2025 during a press conference held today. The guide aims to standardize administrative and educational procedures in private schools, ensure compliance with national standards, enhance transparency in accreditation and evaluation processes, and support educational diversity by offering multiple systems, such as the British and American curricula, the International Baccalaureate, and others, to meet the needs of the local and international community. Director of the Ministry's Private Schools and Kindergartens Department Dr. Rania Mohamed said that the launch of this guide reflects the State of Qatar's commitment to developing an integrated educational environment in private schools, based on quality, transparency, and excellence. She emphasized that it represents a regulatory and procedural reference that helps schools, parents, and students make informed educational decisions. Dr. Mohamed added that the guide reflects the ministry's strategic direction in supporting Qatar National Vision 2030 by building an educated generation capable of creativity, innovation, and global competitiveness. She noted that the philosophy of education in Qatar is based on providing equal opportunities for all students, developing critical thinking and analytical skills, and promoting the values ​​of responsibility and openness to other cultures. She explained that the preparation of the guide went through a meticulous process that extended from December 2023 to June 2025. The review included a review of national policies and relevant legislation, a study of the various educational systems applied in private schools, and an examination of international best practices. Education experts, educational supervisors, and private schools, were also involved before being subjected to final review and approval by the ministry's specialized committees. Dr. Mohamed explained that the guide includes a comprehensive definition of the approved educational systems, their accreditation requirements, and their assessment mechanisms. It also includes a chapter on the BTEC curriculum, which covers specialized professional tracks such as business and engineering, and an appendix detailing the names of the schools that implement each system. This will help parents choose the appropriate system for their children based on clear and transparent criteria. Dr. Rania Mohamed also expressed her appreciation for the private schools that participated in preparing this guide, stressing that the cooperation of these institutions reflects the spirit of partnership with the ministry in serving the educational process, contributes to the development of private education to keep pace with the best international experiences, and enhances Qatar's position as a leading educational destination regionally and internationally.
