University of Doha for Science and Technology ( UDST) has announced the launch of three new academic programmes for Fall 2026, namely, Master of Science in Midwifery, Executive Master of Health Administration, and Diploma in Animal Health and Veterinary Science.The new programmes have been developed in alignment with national priorities and international standards with a focus on hands-on learning, applied research, and professional training. Admissions for all three programmes will open this January for the 2026–2027 academic year through the University’s website: udst.edu.qa.Executive Master of Health Administration (EMHA) offered at the College of Business is designed to strengthen Qatar’s health-system leadership capacity.EMHA prepares emerging and mid-career professionals to drive operational excellence across the healthcare sector. Purpose-built for immediate impact, the programme develops leaders capable of improving quality, optimising financial performance, and advancing digital transformation to deliver measurable results for patients, providers, and payers.Applied and industry-focused, the EMHA is built around real-world projects in collaboration with health-sector partners and is fully aligned with national priorities to enhance high-quality, sustainable healthcare services. Graduates will be equipped to lead change, manage complex organisations, and elevate performance across the sector and beyond.Master of Science in Midwifery (MSc Midwifery) at the College of Health Sciences is designed as Qatar’s first graduate programme in midwifery. It provides an advanced pathway for registered nurses seeking to transition into professional midwifery practice. The programme is competency-based and practice-focused, integrating robust clinical training and high-fidelity simulation to build expertise in maternal, neonatal, and family-centred care.Developed in collaboration with key health-sector partners and aligned with international standards, it directly responds to Qatar’s growing need for highly skilled midwives. Graduates will be prepared to lead innovation, enhance quality of care, and advance women’s health across the national healthcare system.Diploma in Animal Health and Veterinary Science offered at the College of Health Sciences aims to strengthen national capacity in animal health. This applied two-year diploma provides comprehensive training in animal care, disease prevention, diagnostics, and husbandry. This programme was developed in response to national priorities identified by the Ministry of Municipality and graduates will be equipped with the practical and technical skills needed to support veterinary services and public-health protection, contributing directly to Qatar’s One-Health agenda and advancing the country’s long-term animal-health objectives.Dr Salem Al-Naemi, president of UDST, said: “Expanding our academic portfolio with these programmes reflects UDST’s role in anticipating future skills needs and translating national priorities into high-impact educational pathways. By focusing on developing leaders and building skills, we are investing in areas that have strategic significance for the country and lead towards its sustainable development.”UDST now offers close to 80 programmes that are under five different colleges which include: Engineering and Technology, Business, Computing and Information Technology, Health Sciences and General Education.

His Excellency Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal al-Thani has issued Ministerial Decision No. (102) of 2025, adopting the Qatari Technical Regulation on Shelf Life of Food Products, No. QS 10050:2025.The new regulation replaces Technical Regulation QS GSO 150-1:2013/Amd1/Amd2:2023, which was adopted under Ministerial Decision No. (17) of 2024, as well as Standard QS GSO 150-2:2013/Amd1:2024, adopted under Ministerial Decision No. (17) of 2025.The new regulation aims to ensure the safety and quality of food products circulating in the local market by adopting shelf-life periods based on scientific principles and modern international standards. This will help enhance consumer confidence and reduce food waste through the adoption of more flexible shelf-life periods grounded in reliable studies, thereby strengthening the flexibility of the local market by allowing the entry of a wider and more diverse range of products.The regulation is significant in that it serves as a national reference fully aligned-100 percent-with international standards, and contributes to protecting national dairy products in implementation of the directives of the Council of Ministers. It also addresses challenges previously associated with the application of shelf-life requirements to foods prepared in restaurants and hotels, which arose from conflicting regulations and procedures.In addition, the new regulation supports national industry by encouraging innovation and enhancing the competitiveness of products in local and global markets. It also facilitates import and export operations by reducing unjustified restrictions related to shelf-life requirements, thereby contributing to greater diversity of food products in the local market.The regulation specifies shelf-life periods for a number of sensitive food products, including chilled meat and meat products, fresh fish and seafood, infant foods, eggs, fresh and pasteurized juices, and ready-to-eat foods. It also defines the appropriate storage temperatures for each category.MoCI affirmed that the decision-developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Municipality through the Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology-represents a qualitative shift in the country’s food safety system. It works to unify the standards applied nationwide, ensuring that all food producers and suppliers comply with clear mechanisms for indicating production and expiry dates on packaging, as well as storage and display requirements, while also reducing waste and losses resulting from product disposal.The ministry called on all entities operating in the food sector to fully comply with the provisions of the decision, noting that inspection teams from the competent authorities will begin conducting monitoring campaigns to ensure its implementation and to take the necessary measures against violators in accordance with applicable legislation.The decision will enter into force on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette. 

President of the Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports (ACBS), Mohamed Salem Al Nuaimi, praised Qatar's outstanding organization of the Qatar World Cup 10-Ball Championship 2025, describing the event as a clear demonstration of the country's exceptional ability to host major global tournaments at the highest international standards.In a press statement, Al Nuaimi said this edition of the championship ranks among the best in the history of World 10-Ball events — both in terms of the number and caliber of participants, and the high technical level displayed throughout the competitions up to the semifinals.He stressed that Qatar, represented by the Qatar Billiard Sports Federation (QBSF), continues to deliver world-class organization of international tournaments, adding that the success of this championship reflects Qatar's strategic vision and long-term commitment to hosting major sporting events.Al Nuaimi emphasized that the championship's success was no coincidence, but rather the result of tireless work by all organizing committees and highly skilled Qatari professionals, whose vast experience in managing international competitions has earned praise from players and global officials alike. He underlined that such professionalism has firmly established Doha as a global hub for billiards and snooker.He pointed out that the tournament witnessed intense and exceptional competition from start to finish — from the preliminary rounds to the main draw and knockout stages — which saw several world champions and top-ranked players exit early, further underscoring the exceptional standard of play.The ACBS President affirmed that this year's edition of the World 10-Ball Championship has made a significant contribution to the global growth of the sport, commending the QBSF's pivotal role in advancing billiards and snooker regionally and internationally.He noted that Doha has once again proven itself as the sporting capital of the world, thanks to its world-class infrastructure and highly professional organization across all sports, particularly billiards and snooker. He also highlighted that Doha holds the rights to host the World 10-Ball Championship for five consecutive editions, through 2028.Al Nuaimi praised the progress of Qatari players, noting their strong performances in both the preliminary and main rounds. He commended Ali Al Obaidli for his impressive showing, reaching the Round of 64 before being eliminated by top-ranked and former world champions.He revealed that, following the conclusion of the World 10-Ball Championship, Doha will host the World Snooker Championship from November 3 to 13, with the preliminary rounds to be held at the Federation's hall before moving to the newly refurbished Ezdan Palace Hotel from November 8 for the main stages.Expressing confidence in Qatar's national team, Al Nuaimi — who also serves as Secretary-General of the QBSF — said he expects strong performances from the Qatari players, led by world champion Ali Al Obaidli, who possesses the experience and determination to make another deep run following his 2023 world title.In conclusion, Al Nuaimi reaffirmed that the Asian and Qatari federations continue to work closely to develop the sport both locally and continentally, stressing that Qatar will always remain at the forefront of nations hosting world-class sporting events that go beyond organization to deliver inspiring, exceptional experiences for the global sporting community.
