Qatar Foundation partner university Texas A&M University at Qatar recognized more than 150 engineering graduates during the university’s commencement ceremony. Students earned bachelor’s degrees in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and petroleum engineering, along with master’s degrees in chemical engineering, marking the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance and dedication. Graduate Wala Abdelhalim, who spoke on behalf of the graduates, reflected on the experiences, friendships and moments that shaped the class throughout their journey at Texas A&M at Qatar. “Engineering teaches us to solve problems, but this place taught us something deeper than that. It taught us resilience. It taught us how to keep moving forward even when the path ahead was uncertain. It taught us how to carry responsibility not only for ourselves, but for the people beside us. And I think that matters far more than any title we leave here with today,” she said.During the ceremony, Dr. César Octavio Malavé, dean of Texas A&M at Qatar, encouraged the new engineers to carry forward the knowledge, resilience and values they developed during their time at the university as they begin the next chapter of their careers.  Students were formally inducted into The Association of Former Students by Mohammed Al-Shareef, Class of 2012 and president of the Qatar A&M Club, officially welcoming them into Texas A&M University’s global alumni network of more than 500,000 former students worldwide. 

Lusail University celebrated yesterday the graduation ceremony of its third batch of students, with more than 900 graduates, including 63% of Qataris, held at Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC). HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid AlKhater attended the ceremony, alongside a number of Their Excellencies senior officials in the country, as well as members of the academic and administrative staff and guardians of the graduates. In his speech during the ceremony, President of Lusail University Dr Nizam Hindi said that science and knowledge form the basis for the advancement of societies and the building of nations, noting that the first message in Islam was a clear call to read and seek knowledge. Graduation day represents a moment of reaping the rewards of years of hard work, diligence, and challenge, Dr Hindi noted, indicating that this occasion not only represents the end of an academic phase, but also the beginning of a new path in which graduates contribute to serving the community and transforming knowledge into a tangible impact. Since its establishment, the university has been keen to ensure that studying in Lusail is a gateway to acquiring skills and experiences, opening up to world issues and anticipating the future, in addition to consolidating the values of discipline, responsibility and teamwork, he added. Dr Hindi pointed out that the academic institution continues its commitment to developing its educational programmes and enhancing the quality of its outputs to keep pace with the requirements of the labour market and rapid transformations, stressing that graduates represent a scientific force towards the future. President of Lusail University called on graduates to adhere to ethics and responsibility as well as to invest knowledge and skills they have acquired in serving their homelands and communities, noting that the future is full of possibilities, and only those with will and determination can reach it. 

The Public Works Authority “Ashghal” honoured 161 employees who completed accredited training programmes in project management, graduate development and administrative support at a special ceremony yesterday (May 10) as part of its continued investment in human capital development. The event, held at Rosewood Doha Hotel, was attended by HE Eng Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al-Meer, president of Ashghal, along with several senior officials. The ceremony marked the graduation of engineers and employees who successfully completed specialised programmes supervised by the authority’s Human Resources Department, reflecting Ashghal’s ongoing efforts to strengthen national competencies and enhance professional readiness. According to Ashghal, the programmes included the Project Management Development Programme, which is designed to qualify newly graduated Qatari engineers and develop their professional capabilities; the Graduate Development Programme, aimed at equipping newly graduated non-engineers with the skills required to perform their professional roles efficiently; and the Administrative Development Programme, which focuses on developing employees holding secondary school and diploma qualifications in administrative support fields. At the ceremony, Ashghal highlighted its commitment to providing an integrated system of training programmes that support sustainable professional development. The programmes, which range from 12 to 36 months, are designed to keep pace with workplace requirements while enhancing employees’ technical, administrative and behavioural skills. Rashid Saeed al-Hajri, Human Resources manager at Ashghal, stressed that the authority’s commitment to creating a continuous and sustainable learning environment that supports lifelong professional developmentthrough specialised training programmes and projects tailoured to employees’ needs. He said the programmes contribute to building clear career paths, supporting the development of human capital, and aligning workforce capabilities with operational requirements, while also advancing the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. Ghanem Abdulla al-Kaabi, head of the Training and Organisational Development Section at Ashghal, said the authority’s programmes were developed using modern methodologies that account for evolving workplace requirements and focus on strengthening applied skills and practical experience among employees. He added that Ashghal continuously updates the content of its training programmes in line with best practices to maximise employee benefit and improve efficiency across various specialisations.During the ceremony, Eng al-Meer also honoured partner entities and internal trainers for their contributions to developing and supporting the programmes, and recognised employees who received the Employee of the Year Award for 2025.
