From the cinematic reimagining of the Doha Film Festival (DFF) to the dual-nation partnership with Latin America, 2025 proved to be a defining year for Qatar’s cultural and creative scene. Marked by major partnerships and museum anniversaries for its leading institutions, the nation further strengthened its status as a regional art hub and bridged the gap between local traditions and global dialogue. The Qatar-Argentina-Chile Year of Culture 2025, a tripartite initiative, brought South America’s vibrancy to the Gulf, especially through the staging of the LatinoAmericano exhibition at the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ). The showcase, a first of its kind in the region, offered a sweeping survey of modern and contemporary art from the collections of Malba and Eduardo F Costantini, creating a unique visual dialogue between the Andes and the Arabian sands. Centered on the concept of belonging, the Tasweer Photo Festival Qatar returned for its third edition and transformed the Fire Station: Artists in Residence and heritage sites across Doha into open-air galleries. The anchor exhibition, ‘To Look at the Sea is to Become What One Is’, drew critical acclaim for highlighting the shared maritime narratives that bind the region's history. Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, meanwhile, marked its 15th anniversary with ‘The Rooted Nomad’, an immersive exhibition dedicated to the life and work of MF Husain, realised in partnership with the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art. The Lawh Wa Qalam (Canvas and Pen) Museum in Education City, Qatar’s dedicated museum for Indian modernist master Maqbool Fida Husain, is one of the year’s most significant cultural event. Housing more than 150 of his works and inspired by a sketch of his own design, the museum deepened cross cultural connections and highlighted Qatar’s role in preserving global modern art legacies. NMoQ also celebrated its 50th anniversary (tracing back to the original 1975 institution) in 2025, underscoring a half-century of preserving the nation’s identity. One of the standout QM exhibitions includes the ‘I M Pei and the Making of the Museum of Islamic Art: From Square to Octagon and Octagon to Circle’, which offers visitors an intimate look at the design evolution of one of Doha’s most iconic cultural landmarks. Celebrating I M Pei’s geometric brilliance and architectural vision, the show deepened public appreciation for the museum as both a container of heritage and a work of art in its own right, bridging cultural history with architectural innovation. The Doha Film Institute unveiled a new chapter with the DFF 2025, held in November 2025. Evolving from the legacy of the Ajyal Film Festival, this expanded event served as a vibrant meeting point for international cinema as it opened with a moving film, ‘The Voice of Hind Rajab’. The festival’s renewed focus on fostering regional talent and amplifying unheard voices drew filmmakers from over 60 countries, reasserting Doha’s position as a serious contender on the international festival circuit. Katara Cultural Village continued to serve as a hub for community engagement, particularly during the winter months. The year culminated in a fusion of sports and culture during the FIFA Arab Cup 2025, where Katara hosted daily festivities blending football fever with traditional art forms. The Traditional Dhow Festival, held from November 27 to December 18, offered a maritime heritage experience with craft displays and activities rooted in Qatari seafaring traditions. The 7th edition of Qatar International Art Festival at Katara brought together more than 450 artists from over 70 countries with workshops, panel discussions, fashion shows, art auctions and live painting sessions. Its expanded programme promoted artistic dialogue, sustainable creativity and cultural exchange on a global scale. Earlier in the year, the Katara Oud Festival kept Qatar’s musical heritage alive for a new generation. Design also took centre stage, with Design Doha maintaining momentum through its Marchitecture programme, an entire month dedicated to exploring the city’s urban fabric. Exhibitions such as Ultraleggera at NMoQ, which explored the brilliance of Italian car designer Marcello Gandini, bridged the gap between industrial design and high art, appealing to Qatar’s growing community of creatives and collectors.   

The Sixth International Primary Health Care Conference hosted by the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) commences today at Ritz-Carlton Hotel, under the patronage and attendance of HE Mansoor bin Ebrahim bin Saad al-Mahmoud, Minister of Public Health.The conference will gather a wide range of leaders, experts, and representatives of health and research organisations from around the world. This event aims to solidify Qatar’s standing as a recognised leader in global dialogue on the future of health and to strengthen international co-operation in medicine and primary care.Hosting this conference in Doha reflects Qatar’s steadfast commitment to building strong, integrated, and resilient health systems capable of meeting the needs of its population while keeping pace with global advances in medicine, technology, and scientific research. The conference brings together a diverse global community of healthcare professionals, policymakers, researchers, and educators — united by a shared mission: to safeguard health and improve quality of life.As the world undergoes rapid transformations that bring increasingly complex challenges — from pandemics and their social and health impacts, to climate change and its implications for human well-being, to shifting economies and the evolving needs of societies — primary health care remains the heart of health equity and the foundation of community well-being. It is where care begins, trust is built, and lives are touched every single day.The conference aims to explore the latest scientific developments and international best practices in primary health care, showcasing innovative experiences from various countries that contribute to developing mechanisms for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and health promotion. It also seeks to strengthen global partnerships and facilitate the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and scientific research among medical and academic institutions.More than a thousand specialists — including physicians, researchers, experts, and policymakers — will take part in the conference, alongside strong representation from regional and international health organisations, making it one of the largest specialised scientific gatherings in the region. The programme features an extensive range of scientific sessions, interactive lectures, and workshops focused on quality of health services, workforce empowerment, the future of artificial intelligence in medicine, innovation in chronic disease management, as well as research presentations and scientific posters by scholars and students from Qatar and beyond.PHCC continues to advance Qatar’s global position in the health sector by investing in human capital, supporting scientific research, developing health-care infrastructure, and expanding preventive and educational services. This conference offers a valuable platform for building new collaborations, exchanging future visions, and strengthening continuing professional education in support of national health strategies. 

On the sidelines of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80), the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) reaffirmed the State of Qatar's leadership role in advancing global dialogue and strengthening international cooperation, with the aim of identifying practical solutions to pressing challenges and driving inclusive development. Through a series of high-level discussions, QFFD brought together representatives from governments, international organizations, civil society, and the private sector, fostering constructive dialogue that contributes to collective action towards a more prosperous, just, and inclusive future. Highlighting its commitment to gender equality, QFFD partnered with Foreign Policy, as part of Her Power Forum under its Women in Conflict Zones initiative. The session "Women in Conflict Zones: From Marginalization to Mobilization." The discussion brought together global leaders to explore actionable strategies for meaningfully integrating women into peacebuilding and development processes, emphasizing their vital role in driving resilience and sustainable recovery. QFFD, in partnership with the Gates Foundation, co-hosted a high-level panel titled 'Global Development in Evolution: What's Next for the Future of Health, Food, and Education'. The session explored how geopolitical shifts, climate pressures, and demographic changes are reshaping development models, highlighting the importance of open dialogue, innovative financing, and strong partnerships to unlock resources for communities most in need and to advance global development that is inclusive, responsive, and effective. In parallel, QFFD joined forces with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and the Gates Foundation to host a high-level roundtable "Delivering Health for All: Scaling Immunization through Universal Health Coverage and Innovative Financing." The discussion emphasized the role of immunization as a cornerstone of global health and examined how Universal Health Coverage, policy reforms, delivery innovations, and innovative financing can expand equitable access to healthcare and strengthen resilience Kholoud Al Mohannadi, Head of Communications and Global Advocacy, at QFFD, stated: "Dialogue is the driving force of progress. It unlocks practical and innovative solutions that not only tackle today's most urgent challenges but also lay the foundations for lasting resilience. Working closely with our partners, we are taking meaningful steps toward a future that is just, inclusive, and sustainable for all". In addition to these platforms, QFFD also engaged in dialogues addressing youth employment, digital inclusion, and the eradication of poverty and hunger, underscoring its recognition of the vital interlinkages between these critical sectors and the integrated approach required to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development. Through these efforts, QFFD continues to advance Qatar's international cooperation agenda, reinforcing its role as a catalyst for meaningful partnerships, inclusive dialogue, and collective progress.
