Qatar Charity (QC) has completed 58 development and relief projects in Cote d’Ivoire during the first eight months of 2026, benefiting around 63,000 people with support from donors in Qatar. The projects covered water and sanitation, healthcare, education, economic empowerment and emergency relief, with the aim of improving living conditions, expanding access to essential services, supporting livelihoods and assisting communities affected by disasters. In water and sanitation, the QC implemented 16 projects, including 12 shallow wells and four deep artesian wells, providing around 27,500 people with access to clean and safe water and helping improve public health and environmental conditions. In healthcare, Qatar Charity equipped health centres with medical supplies and equipment and provided people with disabilities with manual and electric wheelchairs and prescription glasses.**media[496926]**A total of 4,019 people benefited from these services, which helped improve access to healthcare and promote the inclusion of people with disabilities. In education and religious services, Qatar Charity built 11 mosques and three Qur’an memorisation centres, benefiting around 2,000 people. The facilities provide spaces for religious education, Qur’an learning and community activities. To support economic empowerment, the QC implemented two projects providing water coolers, 19 projects supplying plumbing tools and equipment, and one project providing sewing machines. The initiatives benefited 151 people and supported individuals and families in establishing or developing income-generating activities. Qatar Charity also implemented a relief project that distributed food baskets to around 19,000 people, helping vulnerable families meet their basic food needs and ease financial pressures. Qatar Charity’s Cote d’Ivoire branch said it would continue implementing projects during the remaining months of 2026, with a focus on expanding access to essential services, supporting sustainable development and empowering vulnerable communities. 

Qatar Charity (QC) has launched an emergency relief project for Sri Lankan provinces hit by Cyclone Ditwah.Funded by Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and supported by the Qatari embassy in Colombo, the project comes after severe flooding and landslides left widespread destruction across the provinces.The event was attended by the charge d' affaires, Ali Salem al-Nuaimi, and Director of Qatar Charity's office in Sri Lanka Mahmoud Abu Khalifa, alongside several government and community representatives.The project aims to meet the urgent needs of affected families. Qatar Charity's field teams have begun distributing 1,800 food baskets, containing dry and canned food items, flour and rice, to families who lost homes and belongings in the floods that swept through most provinces, forcing thousands to seek refuge in schools, mosques, and higher ground.In co-ordination with the Disaster Management Centre, Qatar Charity is also providing essential equipment and tools for search and rescue operations, strengthening local authorities' capacity to respond to the cyclone's aftermath and future emergencies.According to the data from the Disaster Management Centre (released on Dec 6), the disaster claimed 607 lives, left 204 people missing, and affected more than 586,464 families (about 2,082,195 individuals). It completely destroyed 4,164 homes and partially damaged 67,505 homes, particularly in the Central and Eastern Provinces.Mahmoud Abu Khalifa emphasised that this urgent response reflects Qatar Charity's humanitarian mission to support vulnerable families regardless of race, colour, or religion. He noted that the intervention underscores Qatar and QFFD's commitment to global solidarity.Disaster and Emergency Relief Researcher at QFFD, Aisha Saad al-Jassim stated: "Our support for this project reaffirms QFFD's commitment to standing with communities affected by natural disasters worldwide. We believe that humanitarian solidarity is a moral duty, and delivering urgent aid helps alleviate suffering and restore hope."This initiative builds on Qatar Charity's longstanding role as a key humanitarian partner in Sri Lanka.
