Qatar's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has signed an MoU with PwC Middle East to strengthen cooperation in strategic consulting and knowledge sharing. The agreement provides a framework for cooperation aimed at developing the capabilities of employees and leaders within the ministry's Digital Government Affairs sector, while drawing on specialized consulting expertise to support the sector's priorities. The MoU was signed on behalf of the ministry by Farha Al Kuwari, Director of Digital Transformation Excellence, and by Joseph Abboud, Partner in Technology, Digital Transformation and Digital Government Consulting at PwC Middle East.The partnership will focus on skills development and professional expertise, with the aim of improving the implementation of digital transformation initiatives and supporting the continued development of government services. Areas of cooperation will include training, knowledge and expertise exchange, as well as the preparation of specialized reports and thought-leadership papers on digital government.The agreement will also provide opportunities to learn from international experiences and emerging technologies and their applications, helping identify development opportunities and adapt relevant global best practices to the sector's needs.The ministry said the cooperation is expected to strengthen government professionals' ability to keep pace with developments in digital government and apply acquired knowledge to improve institutional practices and support digital initiatives. The agreement is part of the ministry's efforts to invest in national talent and work with specialized institutions to develop institutional capabilities in digital government.It also supports the objectives of Qatar's Digital Agenda 2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030, with the aim of developing a more efficient digital government capable of meeting future needs.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) Wednesday highlighted a Metrash service that enables users to authorise their spouses and children to activate the application on their own devices, even if they do not have a mobile number registered in their name.The service removes what had been a common obstacle for dependants seeking access to the application’s digital government services, since Metrash activation traditionally required a mobile number linked to the user’s Qatar ID.The ministry said the authorisation could be completed through a few simple steps.Users should open the application’s main menu, select “Delegation” and then choose “Relative Registration”. They must enter the relative’s Qatar ID number, mobile number and ID expiry date before clicking “Add”.Once the request is confirmed, the relative will be authorised to use the specified mobile number to activate Metrash on their device. The process can be completed digitally without visiting an MoI service centre.The facility is intended particularly for family members whose mobile numbers are registered under their sponsor’s name. It gives them direct access to Metrash services on their own devices without requiring a separate mobile subscription linked to their Qatar ID.Metrash provides citizens and residents access to more than 400 MoI services covering areas including residency, visas, traffic and official documents. The application also offers a digital wallet and is available in Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Hindi and Urdu, according to its official application listing. 

His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani chaired Wednesday the meeting of the Steering Committee for Smart Government and Digital Leadership. The meeting discussed several projects related to digital government and enhancing integration between ministries, government agencies, and public institutions. These projects aim to contribute to achieving the goals of Qatar's national digital transformation and to facilitate services and transactions for individuals and institutions across various sectors. Appropriate decisions were made regarding these projects. The meeting was attended by ministers - members of the committee, along with senior state officials.
