Her Excellency Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani met today with Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Singapore Stanley Loh.The meeting explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the areas of labour market policy development, skills development and workforce training, and social protection, as well as means of further supporting and expanding cooperation.In her remarks during the meeting, HE Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that the State of Qatar attaches great importance to developing its labour system through the continuous modernization of legislation and policies, improving the working environment, strengthening the protection of workers' rights, investing in vocational training and professional development, and enhancing the efficiency and skills of the workforce in line with labour market developments and requirements.Her Excellency affirmed that the meeting represents an important platform for strengthening dialogue, exchanging expertise, and benefiting from successful experiences in developing labour market policies and enhancing human capital capabilities.Her Excellency also commended the Republic of Singapore's leading experience in the fields of occupational safety and health, social protection systems, skills development, and aligning education and training outcomes with labour market needs. She expressed the State of Qatar's aspiration to expand cooperation and exchange best practices between the two sides.Her Excellency further emphasised the importance of the official visit and the accompanying technical meetings in strengthening communication between the relevant authorities and opening new avenues for partnership and the exchange of knowledge and expertise in support of the shared interests of both countries. 

The Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, His Excellency Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Sayed, has signed a ‘Joint Statement on AI Opportunity’ between Qatar and the US during the Pax Silica Summit, recently held in Washington, DC.The joint statement serves as an annex to the Pax Silica Declaration signed by Qatar and the US in January this year, marking a strategic step aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in advanced technologies and supply chain security, supporting global economic stability and security, reinforcing the partnership between the two countries, and contributing to building a more resilient and sustainable economic ecosystem.The summit brought together member countries of the Pax Silica initiative. The first day was dedicated to discussions related to industry and the private sector, while the second day focused on government-related topics and ways to enhance cooperation among member countries.On the sidelines of the summit, al-Sayed held a series of bilateral meetings with a number of senior participating officials, including Zhaslan Madiyev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan; Saeed bin Mubarak al-Hajeri, the UAE’s Minister of State; Jacob Helberg, US Undersecretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment; and Dr Ceferino S Rodolfo, Undersecretary for Industry Development and Investment Promotions at the Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry.Al-Sayed also met with Chng Kai Fong, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Digital Development and Information of Singapore; David Copley, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Global Supply Chains at the National Security Council; and Ben Black, CEO of the US International Development Finance Corporation.The meetings discussed ways to strengthen trade and investment relations, expand prospects for economic cooperation, coordinate policies, explore opportunities in AI, facilitate trade exchanges, and support partnerships between business communities in a manner that serves mutual interests.Al-Sayed also met with several representatives of global companies, where the investment opportunities offered by Qatar were reviewed, alongside prospects for cooperation in priority sectors, particularly artificial intelligence and advanced technology, the digital economy, and supply chains. 

HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad met on Wednesday with the Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa in Doha Ghulam Hoosein Asmal.The meeting discussed bilateral cooperation relations and ways to support and strengthen them, in addition to discussing a number of issues of mutual concern.

HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al Muraikhi received a phone call on Thursday from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives Iruthisham Adam.During the call, the two countries discussed bilateral cooperation relations and ways to support and strengthen them, in addition to a number of topics of common interest.

Germany has initiated talks with France on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of nuclear deterrence, as part of the defense and strategic coordination mechanism announced by the two countries last March.Local sources reported that the first round of talks began in Paris, while a second round of talks is expected to be held in Berlin before summer holiday.A statement by the German Chancellery explained that Berlin and Paris agreed on executive steps for the Nuclear Steering Group, including taking concrete steps during the current year, as Germany will participate in French nuclear exercises, and several joint visits to strategic facilities will take place, in addition to the two countries' participation in developing the nuclear defense capabilities of other European countries.Germany will participate for the first time in this type of training next September, with its participation initially being in the form of an observer role. In the later stages, the German army will provide strategic support that is not directly related to nuclear weapons.The joint German-French declaration stressed that the new cooperation does not aim to replace NATO's nuclear deterrence, nor the nuclear participation arrangements to which Germany contributes, but rather to complement them, while the two countries continue to adhere to international law, including the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.The declaration also stressed that German-French cooperation is based on commitment to Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty and Article 42, paragraph 7, of the European Union Treaty, and aims to strengthen European security as a whole, paying particular attention to coordination with the United States, the United Kingdom, and the rest of the allies.Last March, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron announced the establishment of a high-level nuclear steering group, to be a bilateral framework for defense dialogue and coordination of strategic actions, including consultation on the appropriate combination of conventional capabilities, missile defense, and French nuclear capabilities. 

His Excellency the Governor of the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saoud al-Thani met on Wednesday with ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the State of Qatar, Oliver Owcza, reports QNA.  During the meeting, they reviewed the key facets of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, with a focus on enhancing collaboration within the financial and banking sectors.

The Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) held a meeting Wednesday in Doha with Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, to explore economic cooperation opportunities with the South Asian country.During the meeting, Sharif expressed his keenness to develop bilateral cooperation to new horizons, highlighting the historical ties between the two countries, which reflect the strength and solidity of Qatar–Pakistan relations.The meeting was attended by QBA board members Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser al-Thani and Saud al-Manna, along with QBA members Sheikh Mansour bin Jassim al-Thani, Khalid al-Mannai, and Ashraf Abu Issa, as well as QBA general manager Sarah Abdallah.Sharif also highlighted the advantages of Pakistan’s business environment, describing it as highly attractive to investment, particularly in the sectors of energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and industry. He invited Qatari businessmen to visit Pakistan and affirmed his country’s full support through its various ministries to facilitate cooperation and present all potential investment opportunities.The Prime Minister stated that Pakistan’s economy is recovering as a result of economic reforms aimed at facilitating foreign investment. He encouraged QBA members to invest in key sectors, including energy, infrastructure, logistics, agriculture, technology, and manufacturing.For his part, Sheikh Nawaf emphasised the strong historical relations between the two countries and the existing economic cooperation across various sectors. He also affirmed QBA’s readiness to further strengthen cooperation and explore joint business opportunities, including partnerships and coordination with counterparts in the business community, in a manner that contributes to expanding economic and investment cooperation between the two sides.Sheikh Nawaf also spoke about the possibility of studying potential investment opportunities and projects, whether in Pakistan, Qatar, or in third markets, noting that Pakistan serves as a gateway to surrounding markets, which Qatar could leverage to expand its regional reach.Pakistan and Qatar maintain close relations across multiple sectors, including energy. Qatar is a major supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Pakistan, while Pakistan exports agricultural products to Doha.

Prime Minister Mark Carney’s visit to Doha last month highlighted Canada’s expanding partnership with Qatar, with culture positioned alongside trade, education, and innovation as a strategic driver of long-term bilateral cooperation.The visit coincided with the launch of the Qatar, Canada, and Mexico 2026 Year of Culture, a year-long programme designed to complement diplomatic momentum with cultural exchange across art, sport, education, and commerce.The Canadian media launches were held over a lunch in Toronto at the Aga Khan Museum on January 29, and in Ottawa at the Qatar embassy on January 30. In Toronto, Michael Bartlett, CEO Canada of Basketball, presented a basketball to Qatari dignitaries.“Through the Year of Culture with Canada, Qatar is investing in connections to sustain a strong, forward-looking strategic partnership,” said Qatar’s newly appointed ambassador to Canada, Tariq Ali Faraj al-Ansari. “These connections include skills-based development in sport sectors, creative exchanges, and bolstering the creative industries. By linking cultural exchange with economic opportunity and institutional cooperation, we are building relationships to endure beyond 2026.”The initiative reflects a shared approach to partnership that links cultural exchange with trade diversification, skills development, and market access, reinforcing cooperation beyond traditional state-to-state channels.Programming began in January in Doha with Canadian participation in the Qatar International Food Festival. Canadian chefs Christian Gosselin, Eric Chong, and Andy Hay took part in culinary showcases that highlighted innovation, craftsmanship, and Canada’s growing presence in the global culinary scene.Sport forms a key pillar of collaboration, building on a shared FIFA World Cup legacy. As part of preparations for the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027, Canada and Qatar are planning an international basketball friendly, linking the sport’s Canadian origins with Qatar’s expanding investment in global sport.Winter sport development is also a focus of the partnership with the Qatar Winter Sports Committee planning initiatives spanning youth participation, coaching development, and high-performance training. The committee will draw on Canadian expertise in ice hockey, curling, skating, and short track.Education and literacy will also play a central role throughout the year. Qatar Reads, led by Qatar National Library, is set to expand to Canada in August 2026. The programme brings Arabic storytelling, children’s literature, and creative workshops to Canadian audiences, while reciprocal programming will introduce Canadian cultural traditions to families in Qatar.As part of the programme, a Doha Debates Town Hall will take place in Canada, focusing on football and identity in the context of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Town Hall series is a signature platform for youth-driven dialogue on global trends. Each event encourages open, respectful exchange in a Majlis-style format rooted in the Arab tradition of collaborative truth-seeking.Photography and public art will further reinforce cultural and commercial ties between countries. Under One Sky, a touring exhibition reflecting on the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, will tour to several Canadian cities, while the Jedariart initiative will present large-scale murals by Qatari and Canadian artists in urban centres across both countries.The Qatar-Canada 2026 cultural partnership is designed to complement broader trade and investment objectives, positioning culture as a long-term platform for economic partnership, innovation, and sustained bilateral growth.Economic co-operation is embedded throughout the programme, with partnerships involving Qatar’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry expected to create new opportunities for Canadian companies through platforms such as Project Qatar and Hospitality Qatar.

His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani Saturday received a phone call from Angola's Minister of External Relations Tete Antonio.During the call, they discussed ways to advance bilateral co-operation between the two countries, as well as to promote a peaceful solution pathway between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Rwanda.HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Qatar's unyielding position, calling for conflicts to be resolved through dialogue and peaceful means, and for the respect of international law principles to strengthen stability, global peace, and security.

Her Excellency the Minister of State for International Co-operation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad met Wednesday with the visiting Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Dmitry Lyubinsky. Talks during the meeting focused on bilateral co-operation and ways to strengthen it, along with a range of matters of shared interest.
