Sheikh Faisal meets Russia's minister of economic development

His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal al-Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sunday met with Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of Russia, who is currently visiting Qatar. The two sides discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation in the trade, investment and industrial sectors, as well as ways to further develop the ties. Qatar highlighted its economic policies supporting the private sector, in addition to the country’s pro-investment legislation, incentives and expanding opportunities offered to attract investors and business leaders to the Qatari market.

Qatar, Portugal seek to bolster bilateral labour co-operation

His Excellency the Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri met with Portuguese Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security Ana Mendes Godinho, alongside senior Portuguese labour authorities. The meetings aimed to strengthen bilateral co-operation, exchange expertise, and explore best practices in labour governance and workplace development.Discussions focused on enhancing collaboration between the two countries, promoting knowledge transfer, and identifying strategic opportunities to advance joint initiatives in occupational health and safety, social protection, and workforce development.His Excellency Dr al-Marri highlighted Qatar's proactive approach to digital transformation in the labour market. He noted that comprehensive reforms, including modernised labour legislation and advanced inspection systems, have been implemented to promote flexibility, fairness, compliance, and sustainable working conditions, particularly in the areas of occupational safety and health.The minister also emphasised the alignment between Qatar's experience in social protection and decent work with Portugal's policies.He stressed that collaboration between the two nations represents a forward-looking model that balances economic efficiency with social equity. Attention was drawn to the memorandum of understanding between the Ministries of Labour in Qatar and Portugal, which provides a framework for technical co-operation, joint training programmes, and the development of digital initiatives in labour inspection and workplace safety. The agreement further supports collaboration on social protection, youth engagement, and women's empowerment.

Saudi Crown Prince and French President discuss strengthening cooperation and developments in Gaza

Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud discussed bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual interest with French President Emmanuel Macron in a phone call on Monday. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the discussions also touched on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and ongoing efforts to end the war and enhance security and stability in the Middle East. Both sides underlined the importance of immediately alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people, ensuring a complete Israeli withdrawal, and taking practical steps toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

Qatar Chamber discusses trade relations with Sierra Leone

Qatar Chamber's Acting General Manager, Ali Bu Sherbak Al Mansouri, met on Wednesday with Trade and Investment Attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the State of Qatar Jonathan Kamara Bio. The meeting focused on bilateral cooperation between the two countries and ways to enhance collaboration in commercial and economic fields, highlighting the role of the Qatari private sector in promoting trade exchanges. It also discussed preparations for the upcoming Qatari-Sierra Leone Business Forum, scheduled to be held in Doha in January 2026, which will include a high-level delegation from Sierra Leone along with business owners and investors from both sides. Al Mansouri affirmed the Chamber's readiness to work with the Sierra Leonean side to strengthen trade and investment relations, particularly in the agriculture, industry, and engineering sectors.

Malaysia, Pakistan to deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields

Malaysia and Pakistan agreed Monday to deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, education, halal products, and anti-corruption efforts. Malaysia announced its intention to import USD 200 million worth of halal meat from Pakistan. This came during a press conference held by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim, following delegation-level talks in Kuala Lumpur. During his first official visit to Malaysia, the Pakistani Prime Minister reaffirmed his country's commitment to close cooperation with Malaysia and expressed interest in benefiting from its expertise. He highlighted the potential for joint ventures in agriculture, information technology, and vocational training. For his part, the Malaysian Prime Minister described the relationship between Pakistan and Malaysia as strong and deeply rooted, encompassing areas such as education and defense, with continuous expansion in economic cooperation. He pointed out the tremendous potential for deepening cooperation in defense, agriculture, digital technologies, energy, and emerging sectors, and emphasized that Malaysia will work to facilitate meat exports from Pakistan. The Malaysian Prime Minister praised Pakistan's stance on Gaza, noting that Malaysia and Pakistan renewed their call for concrete measures to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Lebanese Health Minister to QNA: Qatar a Global Model in Integrated Healthcare

Lebanon's Minister of Public Health Dr. Rakan Nassereddine highlighted the depth of the distinguished relations between the State of Qatar and Lebanon, praising Qatar's leadership in the health sector. In an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Lebanese Health Minister affirmed that the relations between the two countries date back many years and are based on a shared commitment to supporting and developing them in various fields. He praised the significant development witnessed by the State of Qatar across various sectors, particularly in the health field, noting that Qatar represents an advanced model to be emulated in integrated healthcare systems both regionally and internationally. He stressed Qatar's steadfast support for Lebanon and its continued assistance, especially in the health sector, highlighting the ongoing cooperation with the Qatar Fund for Development in the reconstruction of Karantina Hospital. He explained that Qatar's support for the Lebanese health sector has been present throughout various stages — starting from the COVID-19 pandemic, through the Beirut Port explosion, and up to the recent Israeli aggression against Lebanon--affirming that this continuous support reflects the depth of the fraternal relations between the two countries. The Minister also referred to his recent visit to Doha to participate in the 6th Global Ministerial Summit on Mental Health, noting the meetings he held with several officials from Qatar Charity, the Qatar Cancer Society, the Qatar Fund for Development, and the Qatar Red Crescent, during which ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the health and humanitarian fields were discussed. Dr. Nassereddine expressed his gratitude to the State of Qatar for its continued support to Lebanon, affirming his country's readiness to strengthen health cooperation and exchange expertise, particularly in crisis response and in dealing with injuries resulting from disasters and wars. He emphasized the importance of Arab partnerships, including with Qatar, to support Lebanon's health sector, which suffers from limited resources but at the same time boasts highly qualified and skilled professionals. He revealed an improvement in healthcare coverage for patients under the supervision of the Lebanese Ministry of Health, through the expansion of medication protocols — especially for cancer treatment — along with the gradual inclusion of kidney transplants and heart valve procedures, in addition to enhancing mental health support, particularly for chronic cases. The Minister of Public Health, pointed out that the ministry's 2024 budget amounted to around $445 million, while the 2025 budget is approximately $480 million, noting that more than $200 million of this amount is allocated to hospital care.
