Lebanese President: Israel seeks to undermine efforts to restore stability

Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun strongly condemned Israeli airstrikes carried out yesterday by land and sea on Sidon area in southern Lebanon and on towns in the Bekaa Valley in the east.In a statement issued by the Lebanese Presidency on Saturday, Aoun said the strikes constitute a new violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and a clear breach of international commitments. He added that they reflect a disregard for the will of the international community, particularly United Nations resolutions calling for full compliance with Resolution 1701 in all its provisions.He described the continued attacks as "a clear act of aggression" aimed at undermining Lebanon's diplomatic efforts with partner and friendly nations, foremost among them the United States, to consolidate stability and halt Israeli hostilities against Lebanon.The Lebanese president renewed his call on countries sponsoring regional stability "to assume their responsibilities to immediately stop the attacks and exert pressure to ensure respect for international resolutions," in a manner that preserves Lebanon's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity and prevents further escalation and tension in the region.The Israeli strikes carried out yesterday on southern Lebanon and parts of the Bekaa Valley left at least 10 people dead and several others injured.

One person was killed and others injured in an Israeli airstrike on southern Lebanon. In a statement, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health reported that an Israeli airstrike on the Musaylih area killed one person and injured seven others. Lebanon calls on the international community to pressure the Israeli entity to end its daily attacks, withdraw unconditionally from all occupied territories in the south, and release the detainees. On Nov. 27 of last year, a ceasefire deal came into effect in Lebanon. The agreement required Israeli forces to withdraw from border villages and towns in southern Lebanon within 60 days. Later, the Lebanese government agreed to extend the deadline until last February. However, the occupation army has maintained its positions at five points and continues its violations there.

Several Palestinians killed in fresh intense Israeli airstrikes across Gaza

A number of Palestinians were killed as a result of violent airstrikes launched by the Israeli occupation forces on multiple areas in Gaza City over the past two hours, coinciding with intense drone flights over the city. Palestinian news agency (WAFA) reported local sources as saying that drones targeted a group of people in Al-Jalaa Street in central Gaza City, resulting in the killing of dozens of Palestinians and wounding others. These airstrikes come despite US President Donald Trump's earlier call on Israel to immediately stop its bombardment of Gaza. The call followed Hamas' announcement of its acceptance of President Trump's proposal to end the war in the Strip and its willingness to release all hostages as part of the exchange formula included in the proposal. Medical sources at Al-Shifa Hospital said that emergency and civil defense crews recovered the bodies of five slain Palestinians from under the rubble of a house that was targeted last night in the western part of Gaza City.

Gaza’s medical chief told QNA that Israel has ordered health facilities to evacuate the city

Director of Medical Relief in the Gaza Strip Dr. Mohammad Abu Afesh revealed that Israeli occupation forces have ordered all health and medical institutions, along with their staff, to immediately evacuate Gaza City, which is currently witnessing an intensified military operation and relentless airstrikes across its neighborhoods. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Abu Afesh warned that the shutdown of health institutions in Gaza City, especially international ones, would deal a devastating blow to an already crippled healthcare system, ravaged by systematic targeting and destruction since the onset of what he described as a genocidal war. Despite mounting threats and the blockade on medical supplies, Abu Afesh affirmed that Medical Relief will continue its operations in Gaza City. He noted that Israeli forces committed a compounded crime by destroying the organization's main headquarters on Omar Al Mukhtar Street in the Al-Rimal neighborhood, as well as another facility in Tel Al Hawa in the southern part of the city. He further stated that nearly 1,600 humanitarian and medical workers have been killed since the beginning of the war on Gaza, calling for international accountability for Israel's crimes against medical personnel and institutions. Abu Afesh pointed out that intense Israeli bombardment in northern Gaza has forced the closure of four hospitals since the beginning of the month, halting services for thousands of wounded and sick individuals whose numbers continue to rise due to the ongoing military campaign. He stressed that forced evacuation orders, mass displacement, excessive use of firepower through aerial and artillery bombardment, and the detonation of armored vehicles in residential areas have severely impacted essential health facilities in Gaza City. Many have been evacuated, while others have ceased functioning due to the blockade, mobility restrictions on staff, and direct targeting of facilities or their surroundings. Abu Afesh reported that over 15,000 injured and ill individuals require urgent medical evacuation and access to proper treatment, yet evacuation efforts remain painfully slow and insufficient given the scale of casualties, especially as the assault on Gaza City intensifies. He urged all international and UN bodies to take immediate action to enforce a ceasefire in Gaza and ensure unrestricted access for medical teams to support what remains of the healthcare system and prevent its total collapse. Gaza's health sector is facing a suffocating crisis, with continued restrictions on the entry of medicines and medical supplies, ongoing targeting of medical personnel through killings and arrests, and the systematic destruction of major hospitals amid the escalating Israeli aggression on the besieged enclave.

Meanwhile, in Gaza City's Al-Tuffah neighborhood, others were wounded when a home on Yafa Street was struck. More than 65,000 Palestinians were martyred, and 167,160 injured in the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 2023.

Gaza death toll mounts as Israeli bombardment continues

The Israeli occupation continued relentless airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, causing more Palestinian deaths and injuries. According to Palestinian news agency (WAFA), four Palestinians were martyred and several more injured after Israeli warplanes struck a residential building in Gaza City. Reports also indicated that Israeli aircraft targeted the Shati Camp in Gaza City. Meanwhile, medical sources said a Palestinian woman was martyred when occupation forces shelled the Bureij Camp, while injuries were reported in several other areas across the Strip. WAFA further reported that two fishermen were martyred by Israeli gunfire south of Gaza City. The latest attacks have brought the death toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip to 65,344, mostly women and children, with 166,795 others injured. The figures are expected to rise further as hundreds of victims remain trapped under the rubble or lying on the streets, beyond the reach of rescue teams.
