The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Joint Committee for the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles, Machinery and Equipment, in co-operation with the Supreme Judiciary Council (SJC)’s Execution Court, has launched online auctions for abandoned vehicles and equipment through the “Court Auctions” application.The event, held Sunday, is part of the efforts to modernise and organise the sale of abandoned vehicles, machinery and equipment and expand the use of integrated digital solutions in auction management.Judge Mohamed al-Kubaisi, deputy head of the Execution Court, and Jaber Hassan al-Jaber, director-general of Al Wakrah Municipality and deputy chairman of the joint committee, attended the launch, along with officials and employees from the ministry and the SJC.The initiative follows a memorandum of understanding signed between the ministry and the SJC in October last year concerning the management, organisation and implementation of electronic auctions.Accordingly, al-Jaber said the launch reflects the Ministry of Municipality’s commitment to developing the system for managing abandoned vehicles and machinery and using modern technologies and digital solutions to organise auction operations.Similarly, Othman al-Hammoud, administrative director of the Execution Court, said the launch represents a new stage in co-operation between the SJC and the Ministry of Municipality.He explained that adding abandoned vehicle and equipment auctions extends the Supreme Judiciary Council’s efforts to develop the platform for use by various government entities.Online auctions will be held twice a month from 4pm-7pm, with a live countdown displayed on the application showing the remaining time before each auction closes.The number of vehicles offered will vary according to scheduled campaigns and auctions, with regular campaigns expected to feature between 100 and 120 vehicles per auction.Available listings and quantities can be viewed under the “Vehicles” section of the application.To participate, users must download the “Court Auctions” application, create and activate a free account using their national address information, and deposit the required security amount for the relevant auction.Bidders can then submit their financial offers during the specified auction period.Participants must have an activated account linked to their Qatar ID and national address information, deposit the required security amount before bidding begins, meet the legal age and eligibility requirements, and pay the remaining balance within the legally prescribed period if they win the auction.The first vehicle auction is scheduled for September 28. 

 Authorities removed 7,144 abandoned vehicles across Qatar in 2025 as part of intensified efforts to clear public spaces and streamline procedures for handling vehicles left there. The Joint Committee for the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles, Machinery and Equipment transferred 5,340 vehicles to the Mesaimeer vehicle impound facility and 1,804 to the Umm Salal facility. The total value of vehicles disposed of during the year was estimated at QR10.62mn. The committee conducted 40 field campaigns across the country’s municipalities, with concerned authorities expanding inspections, streamlining procedures and strengthening co-ordination among government entities to address the issue. Several administrative measures were introduced in 2025 to expedite the removal and disposal process. These included cancelling impound fees and linking violations to individuals’ personal identification numbers. Authorities also worked to simplify vehicle ownership transfers and disposal procedures, aiming to reduce administrative delays and make it easier for owners to resolve cases involving abandoned vehicles. The committee further strengthened co-ordination and data-sharing links with relevant authorities and proposed integrating municipal and traffic violations to improve enforcement and information exchange. As part of its disposal programme, about 1,200 vehicles were sold through auctions during the year. The committee also examined mechanisms for exporting abandoned vehicles and proposed procedures for handling vehicles found on private property. Public awareness campaigns were stepped up to encourage greater community participation in preventing vehicle abandonment in public areas. 

The Umm Slal Municipality's General Control Section of the Municipal Control Department, in cooperation with the Committee for the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles, the Mechanical Equipment Department, and the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), has carried out a campaign to remove abandoned vehicles and equipment within its administrative boundaries. The week-long campaign, in implementation of Law No 18 of 2017 regarding public hygiene, resulted in the removal of 44 abandoned vehicles.

In a week-long campaign carried out by the municipalities of Al Sheehaniya and Umm Slal, 117 abandoned vehicles have been removed from various areas within their jurisdiction.At Al Sheehaniya, the Public Control Section of the Municipal Control Department, the Committee for the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles and the Public Cleaning Department had identified 110 abandoned vehicles and removed 73 vehicles. Several violation reports were also issued during the campaign.During the campaign at Umm Slal Municipality, in cooperation with the Committee for the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles, the Mechanical Equipment Department, and the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) and in implementation of Law No 18 of 2017 regarding public hygiene, 44 abandoned vehicles removed.
