West Indies pile up record 405-7 in second ODI against India

Opener John Campbell hit 101 to lay the foundations for West Indies' highest-ever one-day international total of 405-7 against India in their second match on Wednesday. Skipper Shai Hope (104) and Amir Jangoo (114) also struck centuries to boost the total as West Indies look to bounce back in the three-match series, led by India 1-0, in Guwahati.Invited to bat first, West Indies lost Keacy Carter for nine before Campbell and Hope put on 110 runs to set the tone for the batting domination. West Indies' previous ODI best was 389 against England in 2019, but they ended up losing the match. Campbell reached his second ODI hundred but in the next over fell to pace bowler Gurnoor Brar after the opener hit nine fours and five sixes in 68-ball knock.Hope and left-handed Jangoo put on 182 runs for the third wicket as the pair hammered the opposition attack with regular boundaries on a batting-friendly pitch.Hope, a wicketkeeper-batter, raised his 20th ODI ton to go past West Indies legend Brian Lara's 19 hundreds. Chris Gayle has the most ODI centuries for West Indies with 25 tons.Jangoo reached his second ODI hundred off 70 balls, leaping up and punching the air in delight. West Indies lost three quick wickets including Hope, Sherfane Rutherford -- out for a first-ball duck -- and then Jangoo, dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja.Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav struck twice to reach 200 ODI wickets before Roston Chase with his unbeaten 29 took West Indies past 400. India will need a record chase, one surpassing their ODI best of 362 against Australia in Jaipur in 2013.

Gill double ton powers India to mammoth ODI chase of 406

Captain Shubman Gill hit an unbeaten 223 as India recorded the second-highest ODI chase of all time on Wednesday to beat the West Indies by eight wickets and clinch the series.West Indies posted 405-7 after three centuries in the innings, but India rode on a 255-run opening stand between Gill and Rohit Sharma (101) to achieve the target with 39 balls to spare in Guwahati as they took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.South Africa top the highest successful run chase in men's ODI cricket, scoring 438-9 against Australia in Johannesburg in 2006.India's previous best chase was 362 against Australia in Jaipur in 2019."Great game. At the half time, 400 on the board, there was a a bit of pressure. No matter the pitch or ground, chasing 400 is not easy. Very proud of that performance and happy to stay unbeaten till the end," Gill said.Gill, who hit 110 in the opening win, went past his previous ODI best of 208 and reached his second double ton in 117 balls for the fastest 200 in ODI history.He hit 26 fours and eight sixes in his 133-ball knock.""I think every part of my body is cramping right now. It was very hot in the afternoon," Gill said."I break the game into small parts. First we had a target in the powerplay that if we get to 75-80 runs without losing wickets, it was good. We knew once the ball got a little old it would be good to bat on. I thought if were around 200-210 around the 25-mark over, we would be good but we were around 230-240. And after that the pressure was never on us, it was on them," the Indian captain added. INDIAN OPENERS CAME OUT ROARINGBoth Gill and veteran opener Rohit came out roaring after the Indian bowlers took a beating on the batting-friendly pitch.Rohit, despite being 39, is looking ahead to the 2027 ODI World Cup and made his intent clear from the start, hitting Alzarri Joseph for two fours and a six in the second over.Gill reached his second successive hundred with a four off Joseph and soon Rohit raised his 35th ODI ton to the delight of a nearly-packed stadium filled with blue Indian jerseys.Rohit, who crossed 12,000 ODI runs during the knock, fell lbw off Jayden Seales and walked off with 10 fours and six sixes in his 75-ball blitz.His departure got previous match centurion Virat Kohli to the crease, but the star player got out on 29 much to the disappointment of the fans.Gill stood firm and along with Ruturaj Gaikwad, who made an unbeaten 31, the pair eased India towards victory.Earlier, John Campbell hit 101 to lay the foundations for West Indies' highest-ever ODI score and better their previous best of 389 against England. They ended up losing that game as well.Skipper Shai Hope (104) and Amir Jangoo (114) also struck centuries to boost the total.Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav struck twice to reach 200 ODI wickets.Roston Chase with his unbeaten 29 took West Indies past 400, a total that proved insufficient.The third match is on Saturday in New Chandigarh. BRIEF SCORESIndia 406 for 2 (Gill 223*, Rohit 101) beat West Indies 405 for 7 (Jangoo 114, Hope 104, Campbell 101, Kuldeep 2-65) by eight wickets

West Indies reach 295-7 after Greaves ton in India ODI

Opener Justin Greaves hit his maiden one-day international century to guide West Indies to 295-7 in the first of three matches against India on Sunday. Greaves made 101 and put on 135 runs for the opening stand with left-hander John Campbell, who made 62, to get the tourists going after being invited to bat first in Thiruvananthapuram. But left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav struck crucial blows to return figures of 4-40 including one maiden over and make India hit back in the middle overs. Kuldeep dismissed Campbell to break the marathon opening partnership and then removed skipper Shai Hope for 12 before he sent back Greaves and Jewel Andrew on successive balls.Greaves raised his hundred with a single but fell lbw in the next over after his 108-ball stay laced with 12 fours. Kuldeep had Andrew caught at slip for a duck before Roston Chase avoided the hat-trick. Chase steadied the innings with Amir Jangoo, who made an unbeaten 58, as the pair put on 52 runs for the sixth wicket. Prasidh Krishna cut short Chase's knock on 24 but the left-handed Jangoo went on to complete his fifty off 38 balls. The series is being seen as a step in India's preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup, with a focus on stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma -- both playing only the 50-over format after their Test and T20 retirements.

Milestone man Kohli powers India to big ODI win over West Indies

Virat Kohli hit a record-extending 55th one-day international century after reaching 15,000 runs to lead India to a dominant eight-wicket win over the West Indies in the series opener on Sunday.Kohli, who hit an unbeaten 139, put on 151 runs for the second wicket with skipper Shubman Gill (110) as India chased down their victory target of 296 with 50 balls to spare in Thiruvananthapuram.Kohli hit the winning six -- the ninth in his 88-ball knock -- as India went 1-0 up in the three-match series, which is being seen as a step in the team's preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup.The 37-year-old Kohli made the evening his own as he went past 15,000 ODI runs to become only the second batter after icon Sachin Tendulkar to achieve the feat.Kohli reached the milestone with a boundary in his 303rd ODI innings, while Tendulkar, who finished his illustrious career with 18,426 runs, took 377 innings to get to 15,000.Gill reached his 10th ODI hundred but the spotlight soon shifted back to Kohli, who reached his 100 with a six as a raucous home crowd stood up to applaud the star cricketer.The top-order batter is leading century-maker in ODIs with Tendulkar next with 49 hundreds. Rohit Sharma is third with 34 tons.Kohli and the 39-year-old Rohit are both playing only in the 50-over format after their Test and T20 retirements, as they look ahead to the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.Kohli on Saturday told broadcasters JioStar that that the 2027 showpiece would be his last World Cup appearance. ROHIT HELPS INDIA WITH A BRISK START Rohit put the team off to brisk start in his 32 as he put on 74 runs with opening partner Gill.Earlier Justin Greaves made 101 and put on 135 runs for the opening stand with left-hander John Campbell, who made 62, to guide West Indies to 295-7.Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav struck crucial blows to return figures of 4-40 including one maiden over as India hit back in the middle overs.Kuldeep also struck on successive balls, sending back Greaves and Jewel Andrew before Roston Chase avoided the hat-trick.Chase steadied the innings with Amir Jangoo, who made an unbeaten 58, as the pair put on 52 runs for the sixth wicket.The second ODI is on Wednesday in Guwahati. BRIEF SCORESIndia 300 for 2 (Kohli 139*, Gill 110, Chase 1-64) beat West Indies 295 for 7 (Greaves 101, Campbell 62, Jangoo 58, Kuldeep 4-40) by eight wickets

Rohit, Kohli in India's ODI squad for West Indies series

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were named in India's ODI squad on Wednesday for the West Indies series starting this month, as the team continue to prepare for next year's World Cup.Both Rohit, 39, and Kohli, 37, only play the 50-over format internationally after retiring from Test and T20I cricket.Shubman Gill will lead the 15-man squad for the three-match series starting September 27 in Thiruvananthapuram.According to media reports, Rohit's place was in doubt despite hitting 138 in his last ODI outing against England at Lord's in July.The two stalwarts of Indian cricket are keen to play in next year's ODI World Cup, but fans and pundits are divided over their places in the side.All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja returns to the squad, having last played an ODI in January.Medium-pace bowler Auqib Nabi and batting all-rounder Naman Dhir could be in line for their international debuts after receiving their maiden call-ups.India will also play the Caribbean tourists in five T20 internationals, starting on October 6 in Lucknow. SELECTORS MAKE CHANGES TO ASIAN GAMES SQUADSelectors also made changes to India's Asian Games squad, with spinner Varun Chakravarthy ruled out due to a side strain injury he suffered during the ongoing Afghanistan T20 series in New Delhi.He will also miss the one-off T20 against Japan in Sano on September 22.All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was originally included in the Asian Games squad, has been withdrawn and will instead feature in the ODI series against the West Indies.ODI squadShubman Gill (capt), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul (wk), Dhruv Jurel (wk), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Mohammed Siraj, Auqib Nabi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Naman DhirT20I squadShreyas Iyer (capt), Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Mayank YadavUpdated Asian Games squadShreyas Iyer (capt), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Yash Thakur, Vipraj Nigam

Pakistan close on series-levelling win against West Indies

Pakistan's spinners put their team on course for a series-levelling victory as the West Indies stumbled to 103 for six - a lead of just 60 runs - on an eventful third day of the second and final Test in Trinidad on Tuesday.Abdullah Shafique's unbeaten 160 ensured the visitors did not completely squander an excellent overnight platform in eventually getting to a first-innings total of 387.Sajid Khan then made his second meaningful contribution of the day in taking four second-innings wickets, while Ali Usman claimed two, including home captain Roston Chase caught-and-bowled off the final ball of the day.First-innings top-scorer Justin Greaves will carry the fight for the West Indies into the fourth morning with uncertainty over the availability to bat of regular opener Brandon King.On a deteriorating pitch offering sharp turn and variable bounce, West Indies left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican was as much in his element as 18 months earlier against these same opponents in Multan.Here, his haul of six for 112, including three wickets in four balls to wrap up the Pakistan innings on the stroke of tea, would have been a portent of things to come.Yet having started the day in the comfortable position of 266 for two and within sight of the West Indies first-innings total of 344, it took an error of judgement from Pakistan captain Babar Azam to trigger a gradual slide as the visitors' last eight wickets fell for 106 runs.Having put the West Indies bowlers to the sword with delightful, confident strokeplay on the second afternoon, Babar was a picture of strokeless paralysis at the start of the day, as if the prospect of a first Test century in almost four years had gotten the better of him.He managed to eke out a couple of runs to add to his overnight 86 before taking off for a non-existent single and, sent back by Shafique, dived desperately but in vain as the direct hit at the striker's end by King from point found Babar short of his ground.West Indian delight at Babar's dismissal was transformed to concern over the welfare of King, who remained prone on the outfield after effecting the dismissal.After several minutes of assessment of his situation he was stretchered off with what was later diagnosed to be back spasms.That unexpected breakthrough triggered a mini-slide as three wickets fell for five runs, fast bowler Shamar Joseph and Warrican claiming a wicket each.Khan offered a measure of stability with Shafique, the pair putting on 59 for the seventh wicket before another pacer, Jayden Seales, removed the lower-order batsman for 30.With the door open to a vulnerable tail, Warrican wasted no time in wrapping up the innings, taking three wickets in four balls with Shafique stranded at the non-striker's end and leaving Pakistan to rue opportunities missed to earn a much more significant lead.'Excellent' WarricanShafique's innings occupied more than seven-and-half hours during which he faced 323 deliveries, striking 15 fours and three sixes."Jomel was really excellent for us today, staying at the stumps and finishing off the innings well," said West Indies bowling coach Ravi Rampaul."At this stage though, and given the way the pitch is playing, if we can somehow push the lead to 150 we would have a chance."Khan was at his most rampant in the final session, accounting for Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Amir Jangoo swiftly before adding Shai Hope and nightwatchman Seales to his list of victims.Chase surveyed the carnage from the other end only to succumb to the constant pressure himself, the reaction of the home skipper to his demise almost a mirror of Babar's disconsolate trek to the pavilion more than seven hours earlier.Usman also posed a constant threat, the left-arm spinner having earlier removed Kavem Hodge, whose 34 is the top score so far in an innings in danger of going into complete freefall.

Pakistan beat West Indies by eight wickets to level series

Pakistan beat the West Indies by eight wickets on the fourth day of the second and final Test at Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad on Wednesday to level the series.Beaten by 90 runs in the first Test the previous week, the visitors were left with a target of only 75 runs after the home side - already in deep trouble overnight at 103 for six in the second innings - were dismissed for 117 half-an-hour into the start of the day's play.Abdullah Shafique and captain Babar Azam guided their team to victory after openers Imam-ul-Haq and Azan Awais fell cheaply to pacers Jayden Seales and Shamar Joseph with Babar hoisting consecutive sixes off spinner Jomel Warrican to seal the result.It gave Pakistan a share of the series in the same manner as their last campaign in the Caribbean in 2021, when they rebounded similarly from losing the first Test to take the second, both matches played then at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.Their last meeting in Pakistan, for two Tests in Multan in January of 2025, also finished 1-1.This match was a personal triumph for Shafique.Not included in the original touring party and only flown in last week as replacement for the injured Shan Masood, his unbeaten 160 was the cornerstone of Pakistan's first innings total of 387.This was also Pakistan's first Test victory at Queen's Park Oval since 1977, when captain Mushtaq Mohammad's all-round performance took his team to a series-levelling win in the fourth Test of a five-match series. West Indies however won the decider in Kingston to take that rubber 2-1.Pushing aside the hotly-debated omission of senior seamer Mohammad Abbas on the first morning of this Test, Pakistan prevailed with their two frontline spinners starring in the victory.Off-spinner Sajid Khan, who was not picked for the first Test, made the most of his recall with a match haul of eight for 117, although he was not required on the final morning as the other spinner, left-arm orthodox Ali Usman, took two of the last three wickets to fall to claim four for 39 in the innings and match figures of six for 119.West Indies were hampered by the absence of regular opening batsman Brandon King who was unable to bat because of back spasms suffered in effecting the run out of Pakistan captain Babar Azam for 88 the day before.Khan had taken four for 32 to engineer the West Indies second innings collapse late on day three, yet Babar opted for the combination of Usman and seamer Mohammad Ali to complete the job on the fourth morning.They were aided though by poor shot selection from the hosts' lower order.Kemar Roach, noted for his tailender's defiance as displayed in the first innings, swung hopefully at the second delivery he faced from Usman to be bowled for a "duck".Justin Greaves, the last real hope for any meaningful West Indian resistance, dragged an attempted pull at Mohammad Ali onto his middle stump, and the innings was wrapped up when Shamar Joseph, having already struck two boundaries, essayed another big swing at Usman only for a skied leading edge to be easily pouched by wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan.Pakistan's win also broke a streak of eight consecutive Test match defeats away from home, which started with a 360-run annihilation at the hands of Australia in Perth in December, 2023. BRIEF SCORES: Pakistan 387 (Shafique 160*, Babar 88, Warrican 6-112) and 77 for 2 (Babar 24*, Shafique 24*) beat West Indies 344 (Greaves 73, Chase 70, Sajid 4-85) and 117 (Sajid 4-32, Usman 4-39) by eight wickets

Brian Lara Stadium hosts maiden Test as West Indies face Pakistan

West Indies and Pakistan meet at Test cricket's newest venue in Trinidad on Saturday at the start of a two-match series in which the home side will be enjoying rare favoured status against the unsettled visitors.Brian Lara Stadium, located in the south of the island, has previously hosted one-day and T20 internationals along with regional first-class fixtures.It becomes the nation's second Test match venue and 13th in the West Indies, drawing it alongside Queen's Park Oval in the capital, Port of Spain, the venue of the second Test a week later.Roston Chase enjoyed his first match and series wins as West Indies Test captain just three weeks ago when the Caribbean team demolished Sri Lanka by an innings and 217 runs and then played out a draw in the second and final Test, both matches played in Antigua.Chase missed the recent ODI series loss to New Zealand with an injury to his right index finger."Roston is a fighter. I know he's not going to want to miss any Test cricket," West Indies head coach Daren Sammy said."I'm pretty sure Dr. Byam (team physio Denis Byam) has a way of keeping guys on the park, so I'm pretty sure Roston will be ready for the first Test."It was their first home Test series triumph since a 2-0 sweep of Bangladesh in 2022, a result which also gave them their last consecutive series wins anywhere as the whitewash of the Bangladeshis was preceded by a notable 1-0 home triumph over England in a three-Test contest.West Indies are not expected to make significant alterations to the winning combination from the Sri Lankan series, although left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican is likely to come into consideration at the expense of fast-medium bowler Anderson Phillip given the expectation of a pitch favouring spin later in the match.In stark contrast, Pakistan have once again revamped their squad in the aftermath of a 2-0 series loss in Bangladesh two months ago with senior batsman Babar Azam returning as captain in place of Shan Masood in hope of reviving their Test fortunes.Babar and opening batsman Azan Awais both compiled hundreds in the lone warm-up match against a West Indies Select XI at the weekend while most of the other main batsmen also got confidence-boosting runs.However the most encouraging aspect of the match in batting-friendly conditions for the tourists was the bowling of pacer Mohammad Ali, who took five wickets in the first innings and will be relied upon, together with the other members of the restructured pace armoury, to give Pakistan a chance to end a miserable run of seven consecutive Test match losses away from home.Their last visit to the Caribbean in 2021 finished in a 1-1 draw after two Tests in Kingston while the teams' most recent Test encounters were in the spin-dominant Multan in January of 2025 when the West Indies trumped Pakistan at their own game in the second match to also leave that series at 1-1.This meeting of two unpredictable sides carries the additional dimension of intervention by the elements as the July/August period is usually one of significant rainfall in the southern Caribbean.While Trinidad has enjoyed hot, sunny conditions in the days leading up to the first Test, there is certainly no guarantee that such pleasant cricketing weather will be sustained over the fortnight of this short series.

Says Jacob Bethell (above): "I met him in Barbados, you know when I was about 11 or 12 maybe even slightly younger than that."

Bethell hails 'incredible' Sobers for turning point in England career

England all-rounder Jacob Bethell thanked the "incredible" Garry Sobers for the key role he played in forging his career following the death of the West Indies legend.Sobers, widely regarded as cricket's most outstanding all-rounder, died aged 89 on Friday, sparking a flood of tributes from all over the cricket world to the Barbadian.Bethell, who grew up in Barbados, got to know Sobers as a boy and the former West Indies captain wrote a reference to help him obtain a sports scholarship to Rugby School, Birmingham.That set Bethell, now 22, on a path that has seen the batting all-rounder become a mainstay of both England's Test and white-ball teams."I met him in Barbados, you know when I was about 11 or 12 maybe even slightly younger than that, my uncle was quite close to him," Bethell told reporters at Lord's on Saturday."He (Sobers) came down to watch me play (cricket) and I think liked what he saw," added Bethell on the eve of the third one-day international against India -- when England will wear black armbands in memory of Sobers."The legend that he was, he had a presence about him and he you know when he came and watched he wanted you to do well."Bethell added: "The major helping point for me personally was helping me get over to England. You know, he wrote wrote a reference for me in terms of backing me to come over here, so I think that went a long way towards getting me into school here and furthering my career over here."That helped me a lot to get over here and do what I'm doing now." PLAYED GOLF WITH SIR GARRY SOBERSBethell, recalling how he had played golf with the "larger-than-life" Sobers at the Sandy Lane course in Barbados, added: "He was a very humble guy, that everybody gravitated towards."Every time he walked into anywhere, the place would just come alive."It was unbelievable be able to spend a bit of time with him and be around someone of that calibre... Wherever he walked he was seen as a legend."While much too young to have seen Sobers play, Bethell knew from an early age he was an exceptional cricketer."I've watched so many YouTube videos and seen what he was like as a player. I never got to watch him live obviously, but to see the flair he had -- he'd do everything, bowl both ways, spin and seam, catch everything in the slips. He was incredible," he said.

West Indies great Sobers dies at 89

Garry Sobers, widely regarded as one of cricket's greatest all-rounders, has died at the age of 89, West Indies Cricket announced on Friday.Known for his aggressive top-order batting, the ability to bowl medium fast and spin, and excellent fielding, Sobers represented West Indies in 93 Tests in an international career spanning two decades, from 1954 to 1974.He scored 26 centuries, and his knock of 365 not out against Pakistan in 1958 was the highest individual score in a test innings until Brian Lara broke his record in 1994. Sobers was born with two extra fingers - one on each hand. He removed them himself as a boy, using catgut and a sharp knife.Sobers would go on to become the most complete cricketer to play the game. A graceful and destructive left-handed batsman, a left-arm bowler equally skilled at delivering pace and spin, and a brilliant fielder in any position, Sobers was named one of the five leading cricketers of the 20th century by the sport's Wisden Almanack.He came second only to prolific Australian batsman Don Bradman, who himself said of the player in 1988: "I've got no hesitation at all in saying that Garry Sobers is the greatest all-round cricketer I ever saw."Reflecting on his achievements, Sobers often played down the importance of his natural talent. "People call me a genius. I don't know much about geniuses," he said late in his life."But I do believe that what I achieved was not just because of the ability that I was born with but also because I worked hard."Sobers amassed over 7,041 first-class runs for Nottinghamshire in the County Championship, including 18 centuries, and took 281 wickets.“Nottinghamshire are extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Sir Garfield Sobers, at the age of 89,” a statement from the club read.

Rain hands West Indies series win over Sri Lanka

West Indies completed their first home Test series triumph for two years when the second and final match against Sri Lanka petered out into a tame, rain-affected draw on the last day at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Tuesday.Needing victory to square the series after a crushing innings loss in the first Test a week earlier at the same venue, the tourists declared their second innings at 251 for nine just after lunch, setting their hosts the daunting target of 302 in less than two sessions for a sweep of the two-match duel. However, the West Indies' opening pair of John Campbell and Brandon King put together an unbroken opening stand of 89, interrupted first by a brief shower and by longer, sustained precipitation which extinguished any prospect of an outright result either way.Fulfilling the often bewildering and tedious formalities of the traditional game in situations like this, play resumed in late afternoon for 40 minutes of aimless cricket when the match was called off as a draw with the West Indies at 109 with loss. Both Campbell and King were unbeaten on 51 apiece.West Indies' last Test series win on home soil was a 2-0 hammering of Bangladesh in 2024 when comfortable victories were achieved at this venue and then at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia.Their last series victory over Sri Lanka was in 2003 at home when they prevailed 1-0 in a similar two-match contest.Starting the final morning at 92 for two in their second innings, an overall lead of 142, the Sri Lankan overnight pair of Dinesh Chandimal and Kamindu Mendis made intentions clear from the outset.They looked for every opportunity to score to give captain Dhananjaya de Silva a realistic option of at least trying to declare to force a series-saving victory.Mendis fell to Jayden Seales for 44 while Chandimal continued to play his shots, the former captain getting to 71 off 107 balls with two sixes and four fours before he was next out,Kavem Hodge coming up with an excellent diving catch at backward-point off the bowling of Alzarri Joseph.Wickets fell at regular intervals thereafter with the Sri Lankans continuing to take chances in seeking to accelerate the scoring.As a result, all six bowlers used by West Indies captain Roston Chase, including himself and part-time spinner Hodge, were able to benefit from the risk-taking. Joseph had the best figures of two for 44. Brief Scores: Sri Lanka 549 for 9 dec (Udara 188, Dinusha 92, Seales 2-98, Shamar 2-98) and 251 for 9 dec (Chandimal 71, Alzarri 2-44) drew with West Indies 499 (Greaves 180, Hope 112, Asitha 5-130) and 109 for 0 (Campbell 51*, King 51*)
