Qatar participates in Global Forum on VAT in Paris

His Excellency Khalifa bin Jassim al-Jaham al-Kuwari, President of the General Tax Authority, headed Qatar’s delegation participating in the Sixth Meeting of the Global Forum on Value Added Tax (VAT) in Paris. The forum was organised by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and held in Paris from January 26-28. The forum is considered a high-level international platform that brings together senior officials from tax administrations around the world to discuss the design and implementation of VAT/GST systems, exchange experiences in addressing challenges related to the digital economy, e-commerce, crypto-assets, and artificial intelligence, as well as to review best practices aimed at enhancing tax compliance and developing risk management mechanisms. Qatar’s participation in this meeting reaffirms its commitment to strengthening international co-operation in the field of tax policy and exchanging expertise in a manner that contributes to enhancing the efficiency of domestic tax systems, in addition to supporting international efforts to modernise and develop tax frameworks in line with evolving economic and technological changes.

ICAI Doha chapter hosts knowledge session on VAT, e-Invoicing and ICV readiness in Qatar

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Doha Chapter has organised a knowledge session on value added tax or VAT, e-invoicing and in-country value (ICV) readiness, engaging participants to deepen their understanding of evolving taxation and regulatory frameworks in the country.The event featured two speakers from MBG Corporate Services. Peeyush Joardar, chief executive officer, Indirect Taxation, delivered an insightful presentation on VAT and e-invoicing compliance, emphasising global best practices and their implications for businesses in Qatar, while Prashan Begwani, partner (Audit and Assurance Services), elaborated on ICV readiness and advisory, explaining how organisations can align their operations with Qatar’s strategic economic objectives.The interactive session saw active engagement from participants, who raised pertinent queries on VAT implementation challenges, digital invoicing systems, and practical approaches to ICV certifications which were addressed by both speakers.The event commenced with a solemn remembrance of TN Manoharan, a distinguished chartered accountant who passed away on July 30 in India.
