Qatar Tamizhar Sangam (QTS), an associate organisation of the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) under the aegis of the Embassy of India, Doha, successfully organised the grand Tamizhar Kalai Vizha 2026 for the Indian community on June 12 at DPS Monarch International School, Al Wukair.The event was graced by chief guest Sandeep Kumar, deputy chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Doha. The guests of honour included First Lieutenant Abdul Aziz al-Mohannadi from the Community Policing Department, A P Manikandan, president of ICC, Shanavas Bava, president of ICBF, and Baburajan, chairman of the ICC Advisory Council. Several dignitaries representing apex bodies and associated organizations also attended the celebration.The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour, and other dignitaries, symbolising the spirit of unity, knowledge, and cultural heritage.Tamizhar Kalai Vizha showcased the rich and vibrant heritage of Tamil culture through a variety of traditional and contemporary performances. The audience enjoyed an impressive line-up of Tamil folk dances, traditional music and other cultural presentations.Participants presented classical, semi-classical, and cinematic dance performances, alongside renowned Tamil folk art forms such as Oyilaattam, Karagattam, Poikkal Kudhirai, and Parai. Solo and duet singing performances also captivated the audience. One of the highlights of the evening was a special song presentation by students from Outreach Qatar, which received enthusiastic appreciation from attendees.More than 600 community members participated in the event, making it a memorable celebration of Tamil language, culture, and traditions.
