Amir affirms support for Somalia

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani expressed Qatar's full support for Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as its keen interest in Somalia's security and stability and in the protection of its brotherly people's interests.This came during a phone call received by President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Dr Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.During the call, the Somali president expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Amir for his role and support in adopting an international stance rejecting the Israeli decision to recognise the so-called Somaliland.The call also discussed bilateral relations and ways to support and develop them, in addition to addressing developments in the Somali arena.A Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) statement Saturday also expressed its firm rejection of a joint declaration between the Israeli occupation and the Somaliland region recognising one another, stressing that the step was a dangerous precedent in contrast with international law. It underlined the move as undermining the sovereignty and unity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.MOFA emphasised Qatar's firm rejection of any attempts to establish or impose parallel entities that could undermine the unity of Somalia, stressing its full support for legitimate Somali state institutions and its commitment to maintaining the security and stability of Somalia as well as the interests of its people.It also stressed that the Israeli occupation would be better off recognising a Palestinian state, which the international community agreed has a right to be established. The ministry also added that the occupation should work to permanently end the war in Gaza, instead of undermining international legitimacy and maintaining its reckless policies that play a role in intensifying tensions and instability in the region.The ministry renewed Qatar's firm position of supporting the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia and its unity, and its call to commit to international law and respect international legitimacy resolutions. The ministry also renewed Qatar's call to intensify international efforts to maintain security and stability in the Horn of Africa region.

Special Envoy of Minister of Foreign Affairs participates in roundtable on Somalia state-building

With the participation of  President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, HE Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al Hanzab took part in a roundtable titled "State-building in Somalia: Coordinated Strategies to Sustain Progress,” held on the sidelines of the Doha Forum 2025.The session discussed coordinated strategies for sustaining progress in Somalia.  

His Highness the Amir presented the Doha Forum Award to Alex Thier and Saad Mohseni, recognising their contributions to supporting children's education in Palestine and Afghanistan, in partnership with the Education Above All Foundation.

Amir meets several heads of state and government attending Doha Forum

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met at the Sheraton Doha Hotel Saturday with several heads of state and government from brotherly and friendly nations participating in the Doha Forum 2025.His Highness met separately with President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmed al-Sharaa; President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud; and President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani.His Highness the Amir also met with President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama and Prime Minister of the Lebanese Republic, Dr Nawaf Salam.Discussions during the meetings, focused on ways to develop cooperation between Qatar and their respective countries in various fields. The meetings also discussed a host of regional and international issues of common interest, in addition to key topics on the Forum's agenda.The meetings were attended by His Excellency Chief of the Amiri Diwan, Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi; His Excellency Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh al-Khulaifi and a lineup of senior officials.Also present were several members of the official delegations accompanying the heads of state and government.

Egypt reiterates commitment to supporting security, stability in Somalia

Egypt on Saturday reiterated its full solidarity with the people of Somalia, along with its enduring commitment to supporting efforts to achieve security and stability in Somalia through Egypt's effective contribution to the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).This AUSSOM contributes to creating environments conducive for Somalia to assume full responsibility for maintaining security and stability, in alignment with the aspirations of the Somali people toward a secure future that opens opportunities for progress and development, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press statement.The statement added that the Egyptian position comes in the wake of key regional developments in the Horn of Africa, as well as internal developments in Somalia and its government's unwavering efforts to enforce the law and counterterrorism.
