Stage set for Al Shaqab Showjumping League finale

The curtain will come down on the Al Shaqab Showjumping League season when the final event gets under way at the Longines Indoor Arena today, with riders across multiple categories battling for titles over three days of competition.Action begins with the Al Shaqab Champions class (140cm), offering a prize fund of QR70,000, followed by the Young Champions class (130cm) with QR45,000 at stake. Preliminary competitions at 40cm and 80cm will also be held.Tomorrow's programme features the 60cm preliminary class, the Amateur class (100cm) for QR15,000, the Future Champions class (110cm) carrying QR20,000 in prize money, and the Junior Champions class (120cm) with a purse of QR35,000.The final day on Saturday will see riders contest the Youth Champions class (135cm) for QR45,000, alongside the Amateur (105cm), Future Champions (115cm) and Junior Champions (125cm) classes, before the season concludes with the Al Shaqab Champions class (145cm), again offering QR70,000 in prize money. **media[453510]**With league standings determined through a cumulative points system, the final round is expected to play a decisive role in crowning this season's champions following closely contested earlier stages.Fahad Abdullah al-Sulaiti tops the 40cm preliminary standings with 49 points, while Mashael Mohammed al-Thani leads the 60cm category on 35.5 points. Abdulaziz Ibrahim al-Baker heads the 80cm division with 50 points and Haifa Hamad al-Thani leads the Talents category (100-105cm) on 52 points.Abdullah Ahmed al-Khalifi sits atop the Future Champions standings (110-115cm), while Haya Khalid al-Hitmi leads the Junior Champions division (120-125cm) with 51 points. Mohammed al-Asaker holds first place in the Al Shaqab Champions category (140-145cm) with 50 points.The closest contest remains in the Young Champions division (130-135cm), where Khalid al-Hadi and Abdulaziz Fahad al-Eid are level on 57 points. In the team standings, Team Ghazal lead the way, ahead of Team Afrin on 57 points and Team Hariri on 49.5 points.

Haidan crowned overall Diamond Tour champion

An exciting and highly competitive final round held at the indoor arena of the Qatar Equestrian Federation marked the finale of the ninth edition of the Qatar Equestrian Tour - Longines Hathab Saturday evening.Organised by the Qatar Equestrian and Modern Pentathlon Federation in partnership with Al Shaqab, the championship spanned 14 rounds throughout the 2024-2025 season.The closing competitions, staged over three consecutive days, drew a distinguished audience and showcased strong performances across all categories, reaffirming the championship’s growing stature as one of the region’s premier equestrian events.At the conclusion of the event, Sheikh Ahmad bin Nooh al-Thani, Secretary-General of the Qatar Equestrian Federation and Chairman of the Championship Organizing Committee, crowned the winners across all categories.The sponsors for the 2025-2026 season were also honoured: Doha Bank (represented by Sheikh Fahad bin Jassim al-Thani, Head of Business Development); Al Shaqab (represented by Khalid alHitmi, Deputy CEO); Al Salam International (represented by Abdul Salam Issa Abu Issa, CEO); Al Kass Sports Channels (represented by Salem al-Nabet, Director of Legal Affairs); and Sahil Media Production (represented by Faisal Fallah al-Marri, CEO).Mohammed Saeed Haidan claimed the overall Diamond Tour title for 2025-26 season with a tally of 261 points. The Gold Tour individual title went to Salman Mohammed al-Emadi, who finished atop the standings with 254 points, while the Wathnan team claimed first place in the team standings with 270 points.In the Silver Tour, Hussein Saeed Haidan emerged as champion with a total of 260 points.Khalid al-Hadi claimed the Bronze Tour individual title after accumulating 270 points.In the amateur category, Mariam Abdulkarim Abed finished first overall with 236 points.Among the Future Riders, Hissa Ali al-Jaber topped Level 1 with 245 points, while Fahad Talal al-Naimi led Level 2 with 259 points.In dressage, Aisha Abdullah al-Naemi won the Level 1 standings with 177 points, while Moza Hamza al-Kuwari topped Level 2 with 183 points.The final day of Hathab saw Sheikha Hamad al-Yafei win the Future Riders 90cm class with a time of 16.89 seconds riding Violet Van Het Koetshius.She was followed in second place by Alqaqaa bin Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani with a time of 17.07 seconds astride Bon Suela, while Alanoud Rashid al-Hajri was third on 18.15 seconds on Beyonce. Ahmed al-Badawi, Head of the Championship’s Judging Committee awarded the winners.In the Bronze Tour, Ahmed Jassim al-Suwaidi topped the 120cm class clocking 45.76 seconds on Power Girl Jmg, followed by Khalid al-Hadi in second place with a time of 48.25 seconds on Doremi du Flot Z, while Khalid Jassim al-Suwaidi came in third in 48.65 seconds on E.T’s Queeny Z.In the Bronze Tour team competition, Team Al Shaqab stood first place with a total time of 104.42 seconds, followed by Team Ajwad in second place (111.41 seconds), and Team Marwan Al Shaqab in third place (119.74 seconds). Saeed al-Rashdi, Deputy Director of the championship, honoured the winners.The championship concluded with a celebratory closing ceremony featuring a special performance by members of the Future Riders’ Academy. The showcase highlighted the academy’s progress in developing young riders, as participants demonstrated impressive horsemanship skills, precision, and harmony with their horses, drawing enthusiastic applause from spectators. ‘An exceptional edition’Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Sheikh Ahmad bin Nooh al-Thani described the 9th edition of Longines Hathab as “exceptional by all standards,” praising the advanced technical levels displayed throughout the championship.He noted that the riders’ performances during the season were reflected positively in international competitions where they represented Qatar, emphasizing that participation in the Doha International Equestrian Tour 2026 had contributed significantly to improving riders’ readiness and experience.He added competing alongside internationally ranked riders helped elevate performance standards and intensified competition among participants.Sheikh Ahmad further stressed that the Longines Hathab championship has grown into one of the region’s leading showjumping and dressage events, thanks to its high organizational standards and competitive quality.“The championship continues to witness remarkable growth in participation year after year, whether from Qatari riders or competitors from across the region, reflecting the prestigious status it has achieved at both the regional and technical levels,” he said.He also highlighted the increasing presence of riders from GCC and neighbouring countries, noting that each edition demonstrates clear progress in both technical and organizational aspects.“The championship has become an exceptional platform for developing riders’ skills and supporting the continued advancement of Qatar equestrian sport toward greater excellence,” Sheikh Ahmad Al-Eid claims Gold Tour at Hathab finale

Saudi Arabia’s Khaled al-Eid claimed top honours in the Gold Tour as the 14th and final round of the Qatar Equestrian Tour – Longines Hathab continued at the indoor arena of the Qatar Equestrian Federation.Competing in the Gold Tour Table A special two-phase event over 140cm, al-Eid partnered Rakker Dmc to produce a flawless round in 32.37 seconds to finish first among 17 participants. Qatar’s Faris Saad al-Qahtani riding Gaya des Cours secured second place in 34.34secs, while Sultan Salem al-Naemi aboard Gannan de La Luce finished third in 35.40secs.In the Gold Tour team event, Al Shaqab delivered a strong performance to take first place in 66.36secs. Al Shaqab Academy finished second in 69.62secs, while Alsalam came third in 71.06secs. **media[448932]**The Open Tour accumulator with joker competition over 110cm saw another impressive outing from Khaled al-Hadi of Saudi Arabia, who clinched first and second places. Riding DSP Cessy, he topped the standings with 65 points in 39.74secs, before taking second on Carlton de Sauvageonn with the same score in 40.00secs. Qatar’s Abdulla Faisal al-Mana riding Kontiki Dice completed the podium in third place with 65 points in 40.37secs. In the Junior category, al-Mana secured first place, while Sharida Nasser al-Kaabi finished second riding Gravity and Extra Pam respectively.The Future Riders optimum time competition over 70cm attracted 38 participants, with Mohammed Sami al-Boenain claiming first place aboard Volnay M'Aurea after recording a difference of just 0.04 seconds from the ideal time. Hissa Ali al-Jaber riding Violet Van Het Koetshuis finished second with 0.11, while Abdulaziz Ibrahim al-Baker took third on the same horse with -0.27.The final day of the season concludes today with the Diamond Tour competitions over 150cm, the Bronze Tour individual and team events at 120cm, and the Future Riders contest over 90cm.

Hussain shines in Silver Tour as Alqaqaa triumphs in Amateur class at Hathab finale

Bahrain’s Hussain Mohamed Dadalla delivered an impressive performance to top Silver Tour, while Alqaqaa bin Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani won Amateur class during the 14th and final round of the Longines Hathab – Qatar Equestrian Tour at the indoor arena of the Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF).The series is organised by the QEF in partnership with Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation.In the Silver Tour competition, held under Table A rules with one round against the clock over 130cm fences, Hussain guided Elite to victory with a flawless round in 54.56 seconds. Saudi rider Khaled al-Hadi finished second aboard Doremi du Flot Z in 55.50secs, while Qatar’s Faris Saad al-Qahtani secured third place on Gaya des Cours in 57.06secs.In the Amateur class, contested over two phases at 100cm, Alqaqaa rode Bon Suela to victory after producing two clear rounds in 27.24secs. Sultan Abdulaziz al-Sada claimed second place aboard Argelith Squid in 28.34secs, while Iraq’s Mariam Abdulkarim Abed and Qatar’s Moza Hamza al-Kuwari shared third position after both clocked 28.39secs aboard Jumbo and Haneen respectively.

Qatar team soar to showjumping gold

Third season of Al Shaqab League kicks off

The third season of the Al Shaqab League, Qatar’s premier showjumping competition – began Thursday. The championship is dedicated to nurturing young talent and elevating the standards of the national equestrian scene.The first day of Round 1, held at the Longines Indoor Arena, featured four exciting classes — Intro 2 (60 cm), Future Champions (110/115 cm), Junior Champions (120/125 cm), and Youth Champions (130/135 cm) — as riders competed under Optimum Time and Table A formats.Khalid Sanad al-Naimi, Event Director, at Al Shaqab, said: “The Al Shaqab League represents our enduring commitment to empowering Qatar’s emerging riders and providing them with a pathway to achieve excellence in equestrian sport. Each season reflects our vision of shaping a new generation of athletes who combine skill, discipline, and passion — embodying Al Shaqab’s mission to inspire, educate, and elevate.”Building on the success of its previous editions, the Al Shaqab League serves as a unique platform that bridges local development with global ambition, offering riders of all levels — from juniors and amateurs to professionals — the opportunity to compete, learn, and excel in a world-class environment that reflects the highest standards of the sport.This season will span four main rounds, with the first round also being held today and Saturday.
