Supreme Judiciary Council holds workshops aiming to enhance judicial competence

The Supreme Judiciary Council (SJC) has concluded a series of professional workshops aimed at strengthening judicial competence and enhancing the quality of court rulings and legal procedures.Titled “Controls and Defects in the Reasoning of Civil Judgments”, the workshops were organised by the Training and Judicial Research Section at the Judicial Inspection Department at SJC for the judges of the Family Court. Held from April 15-May 6 at the Family Court premises, the programme formed part of the judiciary’s broader strategy to promote excellence in legal interpretation, judicial reasoning, and procedural integrity within Qatar’s justice system. The workshops were presented by Judge Mohamed Ismail, who delivered in-depth lectures and practical discussions on a range of legal and judicial topics related to the reasoning of civil judgments. The key themes included the legal definition and principles of judicial reasoning, the distinction between “cause” in legal terminology and in Islamic jurisprudence, the legal basis and obligation for reasoning in judicial decisions, common defects and shortcomings in judicial reasoning, and the practical applications that support sound judicial performance and legal analysis. Further, the sessions explored broader legal and judicial subjects to reinforce professional judicial practice and elevate the standard of legal decision-making. The programme saw strong engagement from the participating judges through specialised legal discussions, interactive dialogue, and the exchange of professional experiences. The participants examined practical challenges in applying laws and judicial procedures, contributing to a deeper understanding of effective judgment drafting and legal interpretation. At the conclusion of the programme, the Training and Judicial Research Department honoured the participating judges for their commitment, active participation, and valuable contributions to the scientific and legal discussions throughout the workshop series. The initiative reflects the Supreme Judiciary Council’s continued commitment to judicial development, institutional excellence, and the advancement of legal expertise in support of an efficient and highly qualified judiciary in the country. The Family Court plays a key role in safeguarding social stability and ensuring justice in matters that directly affect family cohesion and individual rights. Accordingly, it is vital to issue precise and well-reasoned judicial decisions in family-related disputes, where rulings often carry significant social and emotional implications, as these cases involve issues such as marriage, divorce, child custody, alimony, guardianship, and other key family matters.

Ministry of Municipality, SJC sign MoU to manage, regulate online auctions

The Ministry of Municipality and the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to manage, regulate, and implement electronic auctions. The agreement comes as part of ongoing institutional cooperation aimed at enhancing transparency in the sale and management of seized items, including vehicles, machinery, and equipment, while keeping pace with the country's digital transformation. The MoU was signed by Assistant Undersecretary for Shared Services Affairs at the SJC, Jassim Ali Al Mahmoudi and Vice Chairman of the Joint Committee for the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles and Equipment, and Director of Al Wakrah Municipality, Jaber Hassan Al Jaber on behalf of the Ministry of Municipality. The signing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Deputy President of the Enforcement Court, Justice Mohammed Khalifa Al Kubaisi and Chairman of the Joint Committee for the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles and Equipment, Colonel Staff Saud Abdullah Al Khater, along with several senior officials from both sides. The agreement aims to develop the online auction mechanism in line with modern standards that ensure transparency and efficiency. It will leverage the Supreme Judicial Council's technological expertise to establish specialized digital platforms, integrated electronic payment services, and a comprehensive marketing and advertising strategy within and outside Qatar. Jaber Hassan Al Jaber affirmed that the MoU reflects the Ministry of Municipality's commitment to advancing the system for managing abandoned vehicles and equipment. He noted that the introduction of electronic auctions marks a significant step toward greater transparency and improved public services. For his part, Justice Mohammed Khalifa Al Kubaisi emphasized that the MoU represents a key step toward integrating digital solutions into the justice and public administration sectors. He highlighted that electronic auctions will help streamline and accelerate processes while providing a fair and secure environment for transactions—aligning with Qatar's broader digital transformation agenda and the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030. The signing of the MoU underscores the commitment of both parties to strengthening institutional collaboration, modernizing procedural mechanisms, and supporting sustainable development through the creation of advanced and transparent systems across the country.
