Saudi Arabia beat Oman 2-1, Egypt-Kuwait in feisty draw

Saleh al-Shehri produced a deft deflection in the second half to power Saudi Arabia to a feisty 2-1 win over neighbouring Oman on day two of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025.Al-Shehri, who charged into the Oman box, sent the ball home on a cross from the flank (77) as Saudi Arabia - coached by Hervé Renard - sealed a fighting win at the Education City Stadium. Earlier Firas al-Buraikan gave Saudi the lead in the 55th minute but that was cancelled by a superb snap-header by Oman’s Ghanim al-Habashi in the 70th minute. Al-Shehri’s late effort sealed the deal in Saudi’s favour. Oman - coached by Carlos Queiroz of Portugal - played an attacking game for most of the match. Oman will now play Morocco on Friday at Education City Stadium while Saudi Arabia take on Comoros at Al Bayt Stadium the same day. Dramatic draw Kuwait held Egypt to a dramatic 1-1 stalemate in their FIFA Arab Cup 2025 Group A clash at Lusail Stadium Tuesday. While Egypt controlled the tempo for large stretches of the match, they were left chasing the game after a second-half header from Fahed al-Hajeri gave the West Asian side a shock lead (64). The encounter remained tense until the final minutes, when a red card shifted the balance, forcing both sides to settle for a point in their tournament opener. Egypt wasted numerous opportunities to seize control early, with Kuwait goalkeeper Suod Alhoushan producing a string of saves to deny Mohamed Elneny and Ghanam Mohamed. The Pharaohs’ frustrations mounted when Amro Elsoulia missed a penalty in the first half - after Abdulwahab Alawadhi’s foul on Eslam Eissa - and Mohamed Sherif fired wide shortly after the break. Against the run of play, Kuwait capitalised in the 64th minute when al-Hajeri connected with Mohammad Daham’s corner to power a header into the top corner, leaving the Egyptian squad stunned. The match reached a chaotic conclusion in the 83rd minute when hero-turned-villain Alhoushan was sent off for a second bookable offence after fouling Marwan Hamdy in the box. Mohamed Afsha converted the resulting penalty against substitute goalkeeper Sulaiman Abdulghafour to level the score. Kuwait missed a late chance to seal the win prior to the red card, and they will now look to regroup against Jordan on Saturday, while Egypt prepare to face the UAE.

It also notes that among the Gen Z Qatari females, 40% prioritise makeup, followed by 25% fragrance, and 20% skincare as top beauty spends.The study revealed that Millennials and Gen Z are a significant part of the shopper base, drawn to streetwear, beauty, modest fashion, and jewellery. Younger visitors integrate malls into weekly life, visiting 1-2 times per week for around 2.7 hours, while Qatari nationals are particularly likely to engage in leisure activities such as cinema and events.The report also highlighted that AI in GCC retail is projected to grow from $5bn in 2023 to $31bn by 2028, with 97% of retailers increasing investment. Developed with research collaborators, cultural institutions, Ipsos data, and industry experts, the report blends quantitative survey data, qualitative analysis, and expert commentary to illuminate shifting consumer behaviour, market trends, and lifestyle priorities.The insights are from the Doha Festival City 2025 Consumer Survey, conducted both online with 2,010 responses and on-ground with 129 responses. Participants shared their shopping priorities, revealing how malls are increasingly becoming social, cultural, and community-focused spaces.Fashion trends include modest-meets-contemporary for 22% of Gen Z females, streetwear for 34% of shoppers, premium perfumery for 32%, and modest fashion for 28%. Among male shoppers, 32% prioritise high-end fragrances. Monthly fashion and beauty spend ranges from QR500-QR2,500 for the majority, reflecting a commitment to style as a lifestyle choice. Ambience, personalisation, and events outweigh convenience for half of shoppers, emphasising the experiential dimension of Doha Festival City.The report also highlights the future of retail in Qatar, including tech-driven innovations.“Malls have become venues for connection and curation as much as commerce. Media City Qatar and Qatar University hosted the second edition of the Euronews Academy Bootcamp, focused on digital and mobile journalism, which took place over the course of three days at St. Regis Marsa Arabia. The program offered training sessions designed to provide participants with practical skills and insights relevant to modern journalism. Students from Qatar University's College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Mass Communication, participated in a series of interactive workshops over the first two days. Sessions covered digital storytelling techniques, mobile reporting and editing, and strategies for using social media platforms to engage audiences. The final day brought together instructors and representatives from Qatar University, Media City Qatar, and Euronews for a dedicated session, allowing participants to consolidate their learning in a collaborative environment. Director of Strategy and Excellence at Media City Qatar, Tevfik Ergun affirmed Media City Qatar's commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration within the media sector. Dyche replaces Postecoglou as Nottingham Forest manager

Nottingham Forest have appointed Sean Dyche as their new head coach on a deal until 2027, the Premier League club announced. The 54-year-old former Burnley and Everton boss has replaced Ange Postecoglou after the Australian was sacked on Saturday following just 40 days in charge at the City Ground.Dyche, a Forest trainee under celebrated manager Brian Clough, becomes the club's third boss this season in what is his first job since the Englishman left Everton at the start of this year. Former Manchester City and Italy manager Roberto Mancini was reported to have held talks with Forest about the role, while Fulham boss Marco Silva was also linked to the vacancy.But Forest opted for Dyche, with the club saying in a statement: "A respected and experienced Premier League manager, Dyche brings the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen and proven achievement to guide the club through its next chapter."Dyche's first game in charge will be Thursday's Europa League tie at home to Porto, with his opening Premier League fixture away to Bournemouth on Sunday. His coaching staff will include two former Forest players in Ian Woan and Steve Stone.Postecoglou was sacked just minutes after Saturday's 3-0 loss to Chelsea, making him the shortest-serving permanent manager in Premier League history. Owner Evangelos Marinakis dismissed the former Spurs boss after no wins from his opening eight games.Postecoglou was appointed following the exit of Nuno Espirito Santo, who was himself sacked in September following the collapse of his relationship with Marinakis. Forest are in the Premier League relegation zone with just five points after eight games despite a squad bolstered by over £100mn ($134mn) of investment during the transfer window.Maradona's heirs sign deal with Swedish company to market brandThe five heirs to Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona, who died in 2020, have signed a deal with Swedish-Iranian businessman Ash Pournouri and his company Electa Global to market products under the Maradona name, the Swedish company said. The company said in a statement that under the long-term agreement "Electa will manage all aspects of product design, manufacturing, marketing, and retail, in close coordination with the family.""There aren't many official Maradona products," Pournouri said.
