The General Assembly of the Arab Camel Racing Federation (Mahari) held its meeting on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the headquarters of the Camel Racing Organizing Committee in the State of Qatar. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Mr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Kuwari, President of the Federation, with members participating remotely via video conference.  Representatives from thirteen full national member entities out of sixteen participated in the meeting, thus achieving the quorum required for the Assembly to be valid and to exercise its powers.  The Assembly began its proceedings by confirming the validity of the invitation, the date of the meeting, and its procedures. It also approved the agenda sent to the member entities and ratified the minutes of the previous General Assembly meeting held on April 14, 2025, and the minutes of the Executive Office meeting held on June 10, 2026, according to the organizational titles in effect at the time of each meeting.  The General Assembly listened to the administrative report presented by the Secretary-General of the Union regarding the organizational and administrative actions and procedures undertaken during the previous period. It also listened to the Treasurer's report on the Union's financial status and reviewed the contents of both reports. This review did not constitute approval of the final accounts or a discharge of liability for previous periods.The General Assembly also reviewed the legal report concerning the ongoing procedures to safeguard the Union's rights and retrieve its archives, documents, and accounts, and resolved to continue pursuing legal and administrative action in this regard.  Comprehensive Institutional Amendments The General Assembly discussed the draft amendments to the bylaws, which had been previously sent to the national member entities, and provided an opportunity for their representatives to offer their comments and engage in discussion.  Following the completion of the discussions, the meeting chair put the final draft amendments to a vote as a single package. All attendees unanimously approved the amendments, without any objections or abstentions.  The amendments included reorganizing the Union's bodies and their responsibilities, adopting the title "Board of Directors" in place of the previous organizational titles, and defining the relationship between the General Assembly, the Board of Directors, the President, and the General Secretariat. The amended system also strengthened the independence of national member entities in managing their internal affairs, establishing their own regulations, forming their own bodies, conducting their own elections, and organizing their races and activities. It limited the application of the Federation's regulations to championships and activities organized or supervised by the Federation in accordance with the provisions of the system.The amendments also addressed the Federation's independence in its relations with external entities, and included arbitration proceedings before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in disputes falling within its jurisdiction. Furthermore, they empowered the Federation to develop modern camel-related sports, establish their regulations, and organize their championships.  The amendments entered into force within the Federation as of their adoption date of July 28, 2026.  Elections by Acclamation After the adoption of the amended system and the alignment of nominations submitted under the previous titles with the new organizational titles, the General Assembly verified the validity of the nominations and declared the candidates elected to the approved positions by acclamation, as there was only one candidate for each position. The General Assembly renewed its confidence in His Excellency Mr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Kuwari as President of the Federation and Chairman of the Board of Directors, and approved the formation of the Board of Directors in accordance with the titles and responsibilities stipulated in the amended bylaws.  Following the announcement of the results, the President of the Federation issued a decision appointing Dr. Hazam Nasser Al-Muqarrah as Secretary-General and Executive Director of the Federation, and Mr. Hadef Mohammed Hamad Al-Marri as Treasurer. The General Assembly was informed of both decisions.  Admission of the Syrian Arab Republic  Under the "Other Business" agenda item, Mr. Mohammed Al-Farra, President of the Syrian Camel Racing Federation, presented the request for the Syrian Federation to join the Arab Federation for Camel Racing (Mahari) as a member.  After discussing the request, the General Assembly unanimously approved the admission of the Syrian Federation as a member of the Federation, effective July 28, 2026, and approved Mr. Mohammed Al-Farra as the representative of the Syrian Arab Republic.  The Assembly affirmed that Syria's membership strengthens the Arab presence within the Federation and expands the scope of Four-year-old filly Fakhira underlined her class with a determined victory in the 1900m Gr.1 (PA) Criterium Des Pouliches - Yas Racing at La Teste, enhancing her growing reputation among the leading Purebred Arabian fillies. Open to Purebred Arabian fillies and mares aged four years and older, the prestigious contest attracted a quality field of seven runners. Fakhira's success improved her impressive career record to three wins from four starts. Trained by Thomas Fourcy, ridden by Christophe Soumillon, and carrying the colours of Khalifa bin Sheail al-Kuwari, Fakhira built on the promise she showed during an unbeaten three-year-old campaign, when she won both of her starts over 2000m and 2100m. Her latest Group 1 triumph further confirms her considerable talent and establishes her as one of the standout performers in the Purebred Arabian ranks. Fakhira had already hinted that a major success was within reach when making a highly encouraging seasonal return at Chantilly, where she finished a creditable third against the colts in the Gr.1 (PA) Qatar Derby des Pur-Sang Arabes de 4 Ans. Dropping back to face fillies and mares, the talented four-year-old fully capitalised on that promise, producing a determined performance to secure her first Group 1 (PA) success. Breaking smartly from the gates, Fakhira was settled comfortably in fifth as Bianca De Ghazal set the pace. The early stages unfolded at a measured tempo, with the leader dictating the race while the remainder of the seven-runner field held their positions, waiting to make their moves. The pace began to lift approaching the home turn, but Fakhira was still travelling powerfully, with Christophe Soumillon yet to ask for her full effort. Up front, Bianca De Ghazal continued to dictate proceedings, while Geneva ranged alongside the leader to mount a serious challenge. Straightening for home, Fakhira cruised into contention before sweeping to the front inside the final 300 metres, still travelling with plenty in hand. Geneva refused to yield on her outside, while TS Waseema (Mister Ginoux) launched a sustained challenge along the inside rail. The trio battled all the way to the finish in a thrilling climax. Showing both determination and class, Fakhira responded gamely when challenged, finding extra in the closing strides to deny Geneva by a head. TS Waseema stayed on well to complete the podium in third. Bred by Sheail bin Khalifa al-Kuwari, Fakhira is by Al Mamun Monlau out of Falsafah, who won over 1200 metres in Qatar as a four-year-old. She is also a half-sister to Al Safinat and Najashee, adding further depth to an accomplished pedigree.

On a charged Ramadan night of fierce competition and edge-of-your-seat finales, the fourth and penultimate round of the 2025-2026 Qatar Drag Race Championship roared to a close at the Qatar Racing Club speed track. The round spanned three days: qualifying on the first two days and final eliminations on Friday, ending with the crowning of the top three winners in all eight categories.The event is held under the patronage of QRC Chairman His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani. In the INDEX 10.00 category, the final race featured a showdown between Abdulaziz al-Hail and Ahmed Hassan. Hassan had previously claimed the titles of the opening two rounds and was aiming for a third this season. Meanwhile, al-Hail was making his first appearance in a final race; however, that did not prevent him from capturing his maiden championship title, leaving Hassan in second place. The INDEX 9.00 category witnessed a completely new podium lineup this round, as Rameeh al-Rumaih secured his first title of the season with Bader al-Foudri finishing second. In the INDEX 8.50 (Cars) category, Hamdan al-Kaabi celebrated his second consecutive victory, earning his second title of the season. This time, he triumphed over Hamad al-Ajmi in the final. Over the eighth mile, the three car categories delivered fierce battles. In INDEX 4.80, Mohammed al-Furaih reached his third straight final and claimed his first title, defeating Rashid al-Juhani, while round two winner Saeed al-Balushi finished third. Al-Balushi returned to the podium once again - this time from the top step - after winning the INDEX 4.50 category title, marking his second triumph in this class. He secured victory over his brother Rashid, who faced him in the final race. Rashid, in turn, finished second for the second consecutive round, while Ibrahim Abbas Ibrahim, champion of the previous two rounds, claimed third place. Rashid al-Balushi made up for his earlier final defeat to his brother by winning the Super Street category final against Mohammed Ali Mohammed. This victory marked his third title in the category, following his wins in the first and second rounds. Al-Ansari claims two bike titles The INDEX 8.50 Bike class drew the round’s largest field, with 30 riders battling through eliminations. In the final, Abdullah al-Ansari - winner of the opening two rounds - defeated Shihab Bourbaa once again to claim his third title of the season. Bourbaa took second, while Mohammed Ali finished third. Al-Ansari then doubled his success in the Street Bike category, winning the final against Ghanem al-Dhaheri. Abdulwahab Bouqmaz secured third place, marking his second podium finish of the season. QRC General Manager Sheikh Jabor bin Khalid al-Thani crowned the top three winners in each category.
