The fourth round of the 2026 Arabian Drag Racing League (ADRL) wrapped up at Qatar Racing Club (QRC), drawing a record 190 racers - 20 more than the previous round. Five drivers won their first-ever titles, intensifying the season title race with just two rounds left.The championship is held under the patronage of QRC Chairman His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani. QRC Director General Sheikh Jabor bin Khalid al-Thani crowned the podium winners.The Index categories for cars competing over the quarter-mile distance recorded the highest participation, with 63 competitors. In the (INDEX 9.0) category, opening-round champion Sulaiman Al-Sanousi claimed his second title of the season after defeating Jarrah al-Mutairi in the final race.The (INDEX 8.50) category featured an entirely new podium, as Fahad al-Ajmi secured his first title of the season. Fahd al-Sharah finished second, while Saleh al-Misbah completed the podium in third place.The most intense racing came in the eighth-mile Index categories, peaking in Index 4.0. After losing the opening-round final, Badr Khurshid bounced back to face two-time winner Tareq al-Bastaki in the final. Khurshid won, claiming his first title of the season. In the Index 4.50 category, Ibrahim Abbas Ibrahim and Abdullah al-Yaseen met in their first-ever final, with Ibrahim taking the Round Four title.Meanwhile, the winner of the previous round, Shaun Langdon, returned to claim his second title of the championship after winning the final race of the (INDEX 4.80) category against Ahmed Saad al-Harbi. Third place on the podium went to the runner-up of the previous round, Batti al-Ali.As usual, the Pro Modified category stole the spotlight, starting from the qualifying runs, which were topped by last round’s winner JR Gray. Champion of Rounds One and Two, Mike Stavrinos, set the second-fastest time, while fellow American Mike Castellana placed third in qualifying. However, that did not stop Castellana from advancing past the first round after defeating the runner-up of the previous two rounds, Rashid al-Balushi.Castellana then faced Gray in the semifinals and managed to overcome him, setting up a final showdown with Stavrinos, who was aiming for his third title of the championship. The final result, however, delivered Castellana his first-ever title in the series.In Super Street Pro, last round’s winner Jaber al-Maghrabi reached his fourth straight final, but Yousuf al-Ali -- winner of the first two rounds -- claimed his third title after missing the podium in the previous round.After two challenging rounds, Turki al-Dhafeeri reached his second Super Street Outlaw final of the season and beat three-time winner Mustafa Atat, who finished second. Badr al-Sharshani took third, his second podium of the championship.The final of the most competitive motorcycle category repeated last round’s matchup, with Mishaal al-Sabr and Christopher Garner facing off again. Al-Sabr reached his third straight final but finished second once more, while Garner claimed his second title of the season.Mishari al-Turki returned to winning form by securing his second victory of the season after claiming the Super Street Bike category title with a win over Round Two champion Mohammed Bourashed in the final race.In the final motorcycle category, Mustafa Mahmoudi continued his dominance by securing his third consecutive title, while Mohammed al-Salem and Abdulwahab Bouqmaz finished second and third respectively.The fifth and penultimate round will get underway Wednesday. 

The second round of the Arabian Drag Racing League (ADRL) 2026 concluded at Qatar Racing Club (QRC) amid high-energy competition and a strong spectator turnout.Held under the patronage of QRC Chairman His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani, the event featured an expanded field of participants, with elite racers from the Gulf, the wider region, and the United States competing across eleven championship categories.The round crowned new champions in the quarter-mile (402m) Index car categories. Abdul Latif Abdul Latif won the INDEX 9.0 title after defeating defending round champion Sulaiman al-Sannousi in the final. Al-Sannousi finished second, while Nasser al-Khader claimed third place to secure his first podium finish of the championship.In another highlight, Adel Ghanem claimed the INDEX 8.50 title in his first-ever appearance in a final, after winning the decisive race against Hussein Ashkanani. Ashkanani recorded his second podium finish, having placed third in the first round, while Mohammed Suleiman Al-Shatti finished third in this round.As for the three Index categories competing over the eighth-mile distance, they witnessed intense competition. In the most powerful of these categories, INDEX 4.0, Tareq al-Bastaki secured the title after defeating Hussein Abdul Rahim Ahmed in the final, while last round’s champion, Rashid Al-Balushi, finished third this time.In the INDEX 4.50 category, Saeed al-Balushi reached the final for the second consecutive round but had to settle for second place, as the title went to Abdulaziz Al-Saleh. Meanwhile, Sean Langdon recorded his first podium finish in the championship by taking third place.After two days of competition in INDEX 4.80 category, Zayed al-Balushi clinched the title, while Nawaf al-Khaldi finished second. Third place went to Sheikh Jabor bin Hassan.Pro Mod standout Mike Stavrinous continued his dominance by securing a second consecutive title. The previous round’s winner topped qualifying and maintained a flawless run to the final, where he defeated Saeed al-Balushi, who finished second. American racer JR Gray, the 2025 NHRA Pro Mod champion, repeated his previous-round result by claiming third place.In the Super Street Pro category, the final was an exact replica of the first round’s showdown and ended with the same outcome, as Yousuf Al Ali was crowned champion for the second time this season. Jaber al-Maghribi finished second, while Abdulwahab Saleem claimed third place.Similarly, Mustafa Atat climbed to the top step of the podium in the Super Street Outlaw category for the second consecutive round, leaving second and third places to Badr al-Sharshani and Mohammed Kafoud, respectively.Al-Awad, Bu Rashid, and Mahmoudi crowned motorcycle championsMohammed al-Awad recorded his first podium finish in the championship by winning the title in the most powerful motorcycle category, Pro Bike. He defeated Mishaal al-Sabr in the final race, while first-round champion Bradley McCoy had to settle for third place in this round.In the Super Street Bike category, Mohammed Bu Rashid reached the final for the second round in a row and this time successfully claimed his first title of the championship at the expense of his rival Mishari al-Marri. Third place went to the opening round champion, Mishari al-Turki.In the Street Bike category, the title went to Mustafa Mahmoudi, who had finished third in the opening round, after he overcame Ahmed Karam in the final race. Meanwhile, the previous round’s runner-up, Dawood al-Sharshani, finished third in this round.QRC General Manager Sheikh Jabor bin Khalid al-Thani honoured the podium winners. The third round begins on Wednesday. 

Maysara delivered a strong performance to claim the Al Noof Cup at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club’s Al Uqda Racecourse Saturday. The five-year-old mare, in the colours of Mohammed Abdulhadi al-Hajri and trained by Hamad al-Jehani, showed admirable versatility to win the 1300m Local Thoroughbred Open Race for the three-year-old+. Under a well-judged ride from Arnaud De Lepine, Maysara advanced from mid-pack before surging to the front in the closing stages, securing victory by ½ a length and giving her owner a second win on the day. Breaking cleanly from barrier five, Maysara was settled towards the rear as Doghan cut out the early fractions, tracked by Mutamarrid and the race favourite Harb. From the middle of the pack, Maysara unleashed a decisive turn of foot, slicing through her rivals and driving past Harb in the final strides to land the spoils. Axis broke alertly from barrier one and settled in a handy position behind the early pace, which was initially shared by Breakout Star and, shortly after, Megalithic. Torgot then assumed control and set the tempo until the home bend where Axis began to make his decisive move. Once in the straight, he swept to the front, but immediately faced fierce challenges from North Audley and Boss Dog, both finishing strongly on either side of him. The three contenders flashed past the post almost inseparable, but the photo finish confirmed Axis as the winner. Boss Dog, representing Aldeebl Racing for trainer Mohammed al-Ghazali under Alberto Sanna, took second by a neck from North Audley, giving trainer Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim al-Malki a 1–3 finish through the ride of Lukas Delozier.

In front of a large crowd that filled the stands of Qatar Racing Club’s (QRC) dedicated drift arena, the opening round of the 2025–2026 Qatar Drift Championship (QDC) concluded with the participation of an elite group of drivers from across the Gulf region and beyond. The event is being held under the patronage of QRC Chairman HE Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani.The competition, which spanned two full days, began with the qualifying sessions on the first day. At the end of the qualifying sessions, driver Ahmed al-Amri topped the standings with a total of 90.33 points, ahead of Salem al-Sarraf, who secured second place with 86.67 points. Defending champion Ali Makhseed settled for third, just four points behind al-Sarraf.According to the results of the qualifying sessions, the drivers were placed into the tandem battle bracket, which took place on Friday and featured fierce matchups full of surprises.On the left side of the bracket, Ahmed al-Amri, the top qualifier, advanced to the second round after defeating his rival Saud al-Attiyah, who had finished last season as runner-up in the National category. Meanwhile, Ahmed Abu Rshaid prevailed over Mesiar Abu Sheibah in an exciting battle. Amid high expectations for an exceptional season filled with events and activities, the Qatar Racing Club’s (QRC) 2025-2026 sports season officially kicks off Thursday, with the first round of the Qatar Drift Championship (QDC).The highly-anticipated QRC activities take place under the patronage of its chairman HE Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani.The club's newly approved event calendar for the upcoming season features five major championships, covering various motorsport disciplines such as drift, drag race, sand drag race, and freestyle stunt shows, in addition to over 25 testing days spread across the next seven months. The calendar also includes roll race events and dedicated motocross racing days.QRC General Manager HE Sheikh Jabor bin Khalid al-Thani affirmed that the club has completed most of the preparations for the new season.“We were keen to approve the sports calendar for the 2025/2026 season early on to give racers enough time to prepare for the competitions. The 5th Qatar Arabian Horse Show for Local Bred, organised by Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club (QREC), began at Al Shaqab on Sunday. The three-day will see action for various categories for junior mares and fillies, yearling colts and fillies, and senior stallions and mares with the championship classes being held on Tuesday.

In continuation of Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club’s (QREC) efforts to reinforce its global presence through sponsoring some of the most prestigious horse races on the international stage, the Group 2 Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club Beresford Stakes was staged at the Curragh in Ireland Saturday. The QREC-sponsored 1600m race for two-year-old thoroughbreds was landed by Hawk Mountain, which is trained by Aidan O’Brien, ridden by Ronan Whelan and owned by Derrick Smith, Mrs John Magnier and Michael Tabor. Ahmed AmanAlla al-Sheebani, Director of QREC Support Services Department, presented the trophies to the winners. With this victory under his belt Hawk Mountain confirmed his class and promising start. After breaking his maiden on his second start over this course and distance, he took the step up in class with authority and is now a Group 2 winner following just his third start. Facing four rivals in the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club Beresford Stakes, he dictated the pace from the start, showed a sharp turn of foot when it mattered and stamped his authority with a decisive victory, underlining his growing reputation on the juvenile scene. Breaking smartly from the gate, Hawk Mountain immediately assumed control at the head of affairs, with Shaihaan in second, Port of Spain in third, Geryon in fourth and Al Haarith last of the five. The pace was even to slow in the back straight, with positions unchanged. Rounding the final bend, Hawk Mountain began to increase the tempo, still going easily, while Shaihaan came under pressure and Port of Spain found himself trapped in a pocket. On the outside, Al Haarith began to quicken, but Hawk Mountain had already slipped away from his rivals. Inside the final 300m, he extended his advantage impressively, winning decisively by three and a quarter lengths. Geryon, owned by Newtown Anner Stud Farm Ltd, trained by G M Lyons and ridden by Colin Keane, stayed on strongly to snatch second place, just a head ahead of Al Haarith, who was ridden by Dylan Browne McMonagle for trainer Joseph Patrick O’Brien and owned by Al Wasmiyah Racing, Ballylinch and Umm Al Shukhout Farm. It is worth noting that the QREC’s sponsorship of the race comes as part of its long-term strategy to maintain a strong presence and promote the participation of Qatari owners’ horses in the biggest races at the top European and international racecourses.
