Qatar Media Corporation, Media City Qatar sign pact

Media City Qatar and the Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) yesterday to enhance collaboration in content creation, digital innovation, and talent development within Qatar’s media sector. The agreement reflects a shared commitment to strengthen the country’s media ecosystem and supporting national ambitions to position Qatar as a hub for media and creativity. Accordingly, Media City Qatar and the QMC will work together to identify a collection of original projects, including television shows, reality series, feature films, documentaries, and screenplays for co-production or acquisition that will enrich programming while creating new avenues of visibility and growth opportunities for licensed companies within Media City Qatar’s ecosystem. Through Media City Qatar’s Media Innovation Lab, the two entities will also launch pilot projects exploring new storytelling formats, production workflows, and digital transformation strategies. The QMC will benefit from innovation roadmaps, proof-of-concept support, and adoption pathways designed to enhance both broadcast and digital platforms.The partnership further advances talent development and shared infrastructure. Building on the QMC’s ongoing media training efforts, including summer programmes and academic partnerships, the parties will co-design training modules, expand internship pathways, and leverage institutional expertise to support students and early-career professionals. They will explore structured models for mutual access to production studios, post-production facilities, and innovation labs, enabling joint use for co-productions and pilot innovations. The QMC will also be connected to Media City Qatar’s wider ecosystem of content creators, service providers, technology companies, and distribution platforms, enabling integration that fosters collaboration, innovation, and monetisation opportunities in line with national priorities. “This agreement brings together two national organisations in media, Media City Qatar and Qatar Media Corporation, to strengthen the pipeline from idea to screen,” said Media City Qatar chief executive Hamad Omar al-Mannai. “By combining the creative capacity of Media City Qatar’s ecosystem with the legacy of Qatar Media Corporation, we are building original content, accelerating digital transformation, and investing in the next generation of talent.” “These efforts are directly aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030, ensuring that our media sector continues to grow as a driver of innovation, creativity, and economic diversification,” he said. “Our collaboration with Media City Qatar opens new pathways for ambitious content and forward-looking innovation,” said QMC’s director of the International Co-operation and Agreements Abdulla Ghanim al-Muhannadi. “By combining our broadcasting expertise with the creative capacity and international networks of Media City Qatar, we can elevate the quality and diversity of programming available to audiences.”“This partnership also ensures that emerging talent and creators have greater opportunities to bring their ideas to life, while we adopt new technologies that strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of Qatar’s media sector,” he said.The collaboration highlights the investment opportunities available in Qatar for studios, technology providers, and content companies seeking to develop and scale projects for regional and international audiences.

New channel ‘to lift economic media landscape’

All set for dedicated Qur'an TV channel

The Qatar Media Corporation has announced the launch of Qatar Qur'an Channel on the first day of the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, expanding its portfolio of specialised broadcasting.The new television channel will focus on airing recitations of the Holy Qur'an around the clock as part of efforts to promote purposeful religious media and broaden specialised content in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.His Excellency CEO of Qatar Media Corporation, Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulaziz bin Jassim al-Thani described the initiative as a strategic step within the organisation's plan to expand targeted thematic channels. He said the channel reflects the corporation's commitment to delivering high-quality Qur'anic content and contributing to the dissemination of the Qur'an through available media platforms, while reinforcing national identity and values.According to the CEO, preparation teams worked to ensure operational readiness under a detailed plan, including the careful selection of recitations, which were subject to technical and religious review to guarantee quality and accuracy. Appropriate visual production has also been developed to suit the channel's format.The channel will give particular attention to showcasing Qatari reciters, highlighting the country's efforts in serving the Qur'an and presenting distinguished national voices.Director of Qatar TV, Ali Saleh al-Sada said the new outlet would be a qualitative addition to the corporation's network of television and radio channels. He noted that programming will include continuous Qur'an recitations, complete readings (khatmat), and the daily broadcast of Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan with a focus on high audio and visual standards for audiences inside and outside Qatar.The channel will broadcast via two satellites covering the Middle East and North Africa: Arabsat (Badr 8) and Eutelsat (E7WA). It will also be available for live streaming through the Tabie QMC mobile application. Officials said the launch is the result of co-operation across the corporation's departments as well as coordination with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.Filming for the channel has featured mosques across Qatar to showcase the country's architectural identity. Abdullah Mohammed al- Buainain, Supervisor of Qatar Qur'an Radio, said the station had dedicated its resources to support the project, including providing recorded recitations by Qatari readers for broadcast on both radio and the new television channel.The launch forms part of Qatar Media Corporation's broader strategy of measured media expansion, highlighting Qatar's contribution to serving the Holy Qur'an, particularly during Ramadan.

QMC chief meets Egyptian official

His Excellency Chairman of Qatar Media Corporation Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer al-Thani met Monday with Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation of the Arab Republic of Egypt Khaled Abdel Aziz, who is visiting the country. During the meeting, they explored aspects of cooperation and coordination between the two countries in the media field and ways to support and develop them, in addition to exchanging views on a number of topics of common interest. The meeting was attended by HE CEO of Qatar Media Corporation Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulaziz bin Jassim al-Thani and Ambassador of Egypt Walid Fahmy al-Faqi.

Qatar Media Corp wins ASBU awards

Qatar Media Corporation, represented by Qatar Television, won two prestigious Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) awards for the exchange of TV content and programmes. This came during the 23rd meeting of ASBU’s Standing TV programmes committee, which began in Tunisia Tuesday and will end Thursday.Qatar TV secured 3rd place in the comprehensive TV content exchange award category and won 2nd place in the TV programme exchange award category, in recognition of programme quality and active participation in the media content exchange framework.These awards represents a milestone for Qatar Media Corp and Qatar TV in terms of supporting Arab TV production, enhancing co-operation among media outlets in the Arab world, and delivering media content that cultivates cultural taste and keeps pace with professional development in Qatari media, thus, affirming Qatar’s leading role in advancing the Arab media scene.

QPC, QMC wrap up course on political analysis

The Qatar Press Center (QPC), in co-operation with the Media Development Department of the Qatar Media Corporation (QMC), concluded the “Political Analysis for Media Professionals” course, which was held from August 31-September 3 at the Center’s headquarters.The course was attended by a select group of media professionals and journalists from various local media outlets. The course was presented by Professor Abdullah al-Shaiji, Professor of Political Science at Kuwait University, who shared his extensive academic and practical experience in interpreting the regional and international political landscape and analysing current issues in an in-depth and objective perspective. At the conclusion of the course, Abdullah bin Haji al-Sulaiti, vice-chairman of the Board of Directors of the QPC, distributed certificates to the participants. He also presented a certificate of thanks and appreciation to the lecturer, Professor Abdullah al-Shaiji, in recognition of his efforts and contributions to the success of the training programme. Sadiq Mohammed al-Ammari, director general of the QPC, expressed his happiness with the fruitful co-operation with the QMC in organising the fourth part of the political analysis course. He emphasised that this partnership comes within the framework of the Center’s commitment to providing the media arena with quality programmes that enhance skills and keep pace with current developments. The director general emphasised that the course attracted an elite group of media professionals and journalists from various media institutions, praising their interaction, which gave a practical dimension to the training experience. The director general emphasised that co-operation with the QMC will expand in the coming period to include the launch of more specialised courses and workshops aimed at providing media professionals with the knowledge and skills that keep pace with the rapid changes in the media and political landscape. Professor Abdullah al-Shaiji said: “This course is an opportunity to qualify young Qataris and provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills in the fields of media and political analysis.”He added: “The course aims to enhance the capacity of young Qataris to gather and analyse accurate information and understand Qatari achievements at all levels. This is particularly true given Qatar’s influential soft power, its significant achievements in development and charitable work, and its pivotal role in bringing viewpoints closer at the Gulf, Arab, and global levels.” He praised the efforts of the QMC and QPC in building qualified media cadres capable of conveying Qatar’s accurate image, correcting negative stereotypes, and defending national achievements with evidence, figures, and statistics, thus contributing to strengthening Qatar’s position regionally and internationally.

QMC receives media delegation from Uzbekistan

The Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) received a media delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by Mamdamni Safarov, vice-chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan and director of Uzbekistan 24 Television and Radio, to enhance media co-operation and exchange of expertise between the two countries.The delegation was received by Ali Saleh al-Sada, director of Qatar TV, and Mohammed Nasser al-Mohannadi, director of Qatar Radio, and was briefed on the Corporation's various facilities.The tour included the radio building and Qatar TV studios, as well as the technical departments that form the backbone of media work in the country.During the tour, QMC officials briefed the delegation on the nature of daily media work, the mechanisms for producing programmes and news bulletins, and the latest technologies used in broadcasting, radio and television, including modern control systems and production studios equipped with the latest global equipment.The QMC reviewed its efforts to develop media content to meet the aspirations of viewers and listeners, and its role in conveying a true image of Qatari society and its openness to different cultures.This visit comes within the framework of the QMC's efforts to build bridges of international co-operation, highlight the media renaissance taking place in Qatar, and exchange ideas on the best contemporary media practices.The visit is expected to contribute to opening new horizons for bilateral co-operation, enhancing joint media presence.
