The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), in collaboration with Earthna Centre for a Sustainable Future, a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), has announced the 11th edition of Qatar Sustainability Week (QSW), taking place from October 31 to November 7. The week aims to raise awareness of sustainability and encourage individuals and organisations to adopt sustainable practices and participate in community initiatives through events and activities across Qatar. Launched in 2016, Qatar Sustainability Week engaged more than 1mn participants in 3,400 events from 2016 to 2025, with the involvement of approximately 2,000 partners. The week aligns with Qatar’s national sustainability priorities and the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, while supporting efforts to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). MECC and Earthna invite organisations and institutions across Qatar to take part by hosting their own events, including workshops, panel discussions, exhibitions, community activities, and educational programmes on sustainability. These activities will encourage individuals and organisations to take practical steps to protect the environment and use resources responsibly. Ahmed Mohammed al-Sada, assistant undersecretary for Climate Change Affairs at MECC, emphasised that Qatar Sustainability Week strengthens participation by individuals and organisations in environmental protection and encourages sustainable practices in daily life. He noted that the collaboration between the Ministry and Earthna supports cross-sector action to raise environmental awareness and strengthen community engagement. He said that achieving the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 requires collective efforts to balance development needs with environmental protection. Conserving resources, reducing waste, and promoting recycling are practical steps individuals and organisations can take to support sustainability and efforts to address climate change. He noted that the range of activities planned for the 2026 edition, from workshops and panel discussions to exhibitions, community activities, and educational programmes, will support the exchange of knowledge and experience and help participants adopt sustainable practices at home and in the workplace. He called on institutions, organisations, and individuals to participate in the week and undertake initiatives that help protect the environment and natural resources. Dr Gonzalo Castro de la Mata, executive director, Earthna, said: “As Earthna, we are delighted to organise this national campaign once again and to see the strong response and participation from communities across Qatar. The enthusiasm and commitment we see each year demonstrate how sustainability is increasingly becoming a shared priority and a collective effort across our society.” He noted that the 11th edition brings together diverse perspectives to exchange ideas, share solutions, and spotlight approaches that can drive a more sustainable future, while linking local initiatives to the wider global conversation. Dr Castro de la Mata added that the event showcases solutions people can apply in daily life and encourages broader dialogue on Qatar’s sustainability priorities. The 2026 edition will bring together partners from a wide range of sectors. QSW 2026’s strategic partners are the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Municipality, Qatar Free Zones Authority, Doha Bank, United Development Company, Qatar Museums, Teen Hub by Qatar Museums, Nestlé, Qatar Science & Technology Park, Msheireb Properties, Msheireb Museums, Seashore, the Tarsheed programme of Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation, Visit Qatar, Enbat Holding, Green Island, DHL, and LuLu Group. 

More than one million members of the public have participated in activities organised under Qatar Sustainability Week (QSW) over the past 10 editions, highlighting the growing community engagement in sustainability initiatives across the country, Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future, a member of Qatar Foundation, has disclosed.The 11th edition of Qatar’s largest sustainability campaign, Qatar Sustainability Week will be held from October 31 to November 7.“The resounding success of Qatar Sustainability Week in the last 10 years attracted more than one million members of the public engaging in initiatives, activities and events across Qatar. The week serves as a unique platform to promote the nation’s sustainability vision as well as community engagement to achieve the nation's sustainable development goals,” Earthna Center said in a statement.QSW, a national campaign in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, aims to engage the community in a wide range of sustainability-oriented activities, raising awareness and showcasing the progress Qatar has made in the areas of sustainability.**media[494421]**Earthna Center noted that since its inception in 2016 and until 2025, the event has conducted 3400 events with the support of 2,000 partners, in addition to the participation of over 1mn community members.The activities of the event include several awareness programmes, fairs and exhibitions, family activities and several initiatives.The campaign invites organisations, institutions, and individuals to take the lead in their own spaces by hosting activities, launching initiatives, and engaging their communities in meaningful environmental action.The sustainability week aims to create a ripple effect of awareness and impact by encouraging as many people as possible to take part, take ownership, and contribute to a more sustainable future for Qatar.Earthna Center has highlighted that QSW offers many opportunities for partner organisations to contribute to the sustainability practices in the country.“They can position as progressive industry players at the forefront of sustainability and promote the organisation's thought leadership, innovations and technological solutions. They can also provide additional media and social media coverage for the organisation and its initiatives and showcase the organisation’s brand on the QSW website amongst the leaders in Sustainability in Qatar,” Earthna Center highlighted.The centre highlighted sustainability practices such as optimising water usage and reducing its environmental footprint by installing water-efficient fixtures. Another initiative is the ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ campaign, which minimises waste by cutting down on disposable items, repurposing materials whenever possible, and recycling paper, plastic, metal, and food scraps.Earthna Center also focuses on water conservation and sustainability by using timed and sensor-activated fixtures which automatically control water flow and ensure it is used only when needed, significantly reducing waste. Furthermore, the campaign also aims to minimise waste and promote sustainability by reducing food waste in daily life.Another initiative is transforming organic and food waste into nutrient-rich compost to support sustainability. By composting, people divert waste from landfills, enrich soil health, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.Through these initiatives, Earthna Centrer aims to inspire behavioural change, raise awareness, and drive measurable sustainability actions across Qatar, with the core aim of raising awareness of sustainability and climate issues and turning that awareness into concrete action. It provides a unifying umbrella for hundreds of independently organised activities that support Qatar National Vision 2030, especially its environmental development pillar.

From the depths of the sea to the vibrant neighbourhoods of The Pearl and Gewan Islands, United Development Company’s Qatar Sustainability Week (QSW) 2025 embodied a journey of collective action and environmental awareness, uniting residents, partners, and volunteers through impactful initiatives.This year’s edition witnessed record participation from divers, volunteers, and the wider community, surpassing last year’s engagement both in attendance and impact. The week further reinforced UDC’s position as one of Qatar’s leading advocates for sustainability, in alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030, a statement said Sunday.As part of the week’s activities, UDC organised the largest seabed cleanup campaign in the region, bringing together over 250 volunteer divers from the local community, with the support of professional diving centres and environmental organisations.The initiative resulted in the recovery of 843kg of recyclable marine waste. The impact of this campaign has been evident since its launch in 2019, as the significant decline in collected waste volumes compared to previous years reflects its lasting effectiveness and positive contribution to marine conservation.**media[379719]**In parallel, UDC’s Plastic Recycling Initiative achieved notable progress by collecting 1,500kg of recyclable plastic materials, reinforcing the principles of a circular economy within UDC’s communities and supporting Qatar’s national efforts to reduce plastic pollution.The blood donation campaign organised in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation was one of the week’s standout initiatives, attracting a large turnout of residents and visitors and doubling the number of donors compared to last year.In collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, awareness campaigns held at Gewan Island encouraged positive environmental behaviours and promoted sustainable practices in daily life.Concluding this year’s QSW, UDC reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to leading sustainable urban development in Qatar and continuing to expand its environmental and community initiatives, the statement added.
