The first half of the 2026 Arabian Drag Racing League (ADRL) concluded at the Qatar Racing Club's (QRC) drag strip amid thrilling, breath-holding battles between speed champions.The third round of the series, held under the patronage of QRC Chairman His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani, saw a new participation record with more than 170 competitors distributed across the championship’s 11 categories.The titles were contested by elite racers from the Gulf region, the wider Middle East, and the United States of America with eight competitors claiming their first titles of the season.The quarter-mile Index categories once again produced new champions for the second consecutive round, reshuffling the championship standings. Majed al-Sharshani claimed his first INDEX 9.0 category title after defeating Mohammed al-Thuwaini, who recorded his second podium finish of the season following a third-place result in the opening round. Mohammed al-Ansari also made his first podium appearance of the season in this category by finishing third.The INDEX 8.50 final brought together Yousef al-Faraj and Khaled Humaidan, both reaching the final for the first time this season. Al-Faraj prevailed to take the win, leaving second place to Humaidan.The eighth-mile Index categories also saw new winners, with the exception of INDEX 4.0, where Tareq al-Bastaki claimed his second consecutive title after defeating opening-round winner Rashid al-Balushi in the final.In INDEX 4.50, Saeed al-Balushi reached the final for the third consecutive round. After losing the previous two finals, he managed this time to secure his first title in the category by defeating Hassan Ashkanani. The INDEX 4.80 category produced a completely new podium, with Shaun Langdon taking first place, Batti al-Ali second, and Mohammed al-Furaih third.First titles for Gray and al-MaghribiAfter failing to reach the final in the previous two rounds and settling for third place, 2025 NHRA Pro Mod champion JR Gray secured the title beating Rashid al-Balushi in the final.In Super Street Pro, Jaber al-Maghribi reached the final for the third consecutive round and this time claimed his first championship title after defeating Nabil al-Issa, who made his first appearance of the season.Meanwhile, Mustafa Atat was the only competitor to achieve a perfect score in the first half of the championship, claiming his third consecutive title in the Super Street Outlaw categoryThe final race of the most powerful bike category brought together Mishaal al-Sabr and Christopher Garner. Al-Sabr was seeking his first title of the season after finishing third in the opening round and second in the previous round, but he once again had to settle for second place as Garner won the final and secured his first title of the season.The Super Street Bike category saw a new winner for the third consecutive round, with Badr bin Eidan taking the title after defeating opening-round winner Mishari al-Turki in the final.In the Street Bike category, last round’s winner Mustafa al-Mahmoudi claimed his second title of the season after winning the final against opening-round champion Mohammed Al-Salem.QRC Director General Sheikh Jabor bin Khalid al-Thani awarded trophies to the top three finishers in each category. The fourth round begins on Wednesday. 

Speed, adrenaline and intense competition take center stage today as the 2026 Arabian Drag Racing League officially begins, launching its opening round at Qatar Racing Club’s (QRC) purpose-built drag racing venue.The championship is held under the patronage of QRC Chairman His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani. The league features global legends across six consecutive rounds, opening with testing Tuesday, qualifying Wednesday and Thursday, tandem races Friday, and concluding February 13 with champions crowned.With extensive experience, the organisers are fully prepared to deliver a championship worthy of its reputation. Widely regarded as one of the world’s strongest drag racing series, the club’s renowned track has witnessed numerous time and speed records across categories.QRC Director General Sheikh Jabor bin Khalid al-Thani said the club has taken a number of steps to elevate the level of competition in this year’s edition.“To date, we have held three rounds of both the Qatar Drift Championship and the Qatar Drag Racing Championship, while last week we concluded the third round of Qatar Freestyle Championship this season. We have now reached the most important milestone on the annual events calendar: the 2026 Arabian Drag Racing League,” Sheikh Jabor, who is well known for his deep passion for motorsports and his strong interest in organizational and operational matters, said in a statement.**media[401593]**“Each year, this championship presents us with major challenges in terms of the diversity of categories, the intensity of competition, and attracting the largest possible number of motorsport fans. Our new highlight this year is the return of the Pro Mod category, which will feature elite drivers, led by the 2025 NHRA Championship title holder J.R. Gray, as well as the veteran champion Mike Castellana, who has won the championship title over multiple seasons. Both drivers compete for Qatar’s Al Anabi Team and have been racing in the US championship for years.”“In response to competitors’ requests, the Street Bike category has been added, bringing the number of motorcycle categories to two, with the possibility of increasing to three. We have expressed our readiness to add the Pro Bike category, the most powerful class in motorcycle drag racing, should the number of competitors reach six or more.”He added: “In line with the directives of the club chairman, HE Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani, we are keen to provide a suitable environment for all participating teams in our championships.”Sheikh Jabor affirmed that the Arabian Drag Racing League sits at the top of the club management’s priorities, as it is the largest in terms of participation and the strongest in terms of competition.“Our current focus is on mobilizing all efforts to ensure the success of the championship and to present it in the best possible image. The main focus will be on the fans by enhancing accompanying activities and events. We have provided entertainment areas for children as well as dedicated spaces for families,” he said.“As in previous years, the club will also host - on the sidelines of the championship and specifically in conjunction with its second round - the Qatar Custom Show in its 13th edition.”Prize money approaches QR3.5mWith the approval of 10 categories for this year’s championship, approximately QR485,000 has been allocated as prize money per round. The strongest category in the championship, Pro Mod, receives the largest share of these prizes: the winner of each round will earn QR50,000, the runner-up QR25,000, and QR12,500 will be awarded to third place.If the Pro Bike category is approved, the total number of categories will rise to 11, and the total prize value per round will increase to approximately QR530,000. At the conclusion of the six championship rounds, the leaders of the overall standings in each category will receive a commemorative shield for the season championship in addition to a valuable cash prize, bringing the total prize pool of the championship to approximately QR3.5mMeanwhile, more than 150 participating companies specializing in automobiles and related industries will participate in the Qatar Custom Show. 

Abdullah al-Qahtani won the second round of Qatar Freestyle Championship that concluded last week at the Qatar Racing Club (QRC).The round was held under the generous patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani, Chairman of the Club, and witnessed a large crowd that filled the grandstands.Registration and technical inspection procedures were conducted last Wednesday, as Thursday coincided with the celebrations of the National Day of the State of Qatar. Registration was exceptionally reopened on Friday for approximately three hours to allow the largest possible number of participants to compete in this round.The inspection procedures adopted by the championship’s organizing committee emphasize the readiness of the cars to compete according to a few standards and conditions that all competitors must meet.These include vehicle-related requirements such as equipping the car with a roll cage, securely fixing the battery, and having a functional seat belt, among other points.There are also requirements related to the competitors themselves, focusing on safety elements such as wearing racing gear, a helmet, and having a functional seat belt, and similar measures.According to the competition format, each competitor is given one opportunity to enter the track and perform a freestyle run, aiming to execute specific maneuvers: drifting, reverse driving, the knot maneuver, and the “Riyous” maneuver, within a total time not exceeding four minutes.There is also a dedicated score for the overall style of the performance. These details were explained to the competitors during the briefing held on Friday prior to the start of the competitions, which lasted for approximately three hours.Abdullah al-Qahtani managed to secure his second consecutive title after winning the opening round. Saud al-Marri repeated his result from the previous round by finishing in second place, while Ahmed al-Musnad claimed third place, outperforming Mohammed al-Farhan and Ahmed al-Banna, who finished fourth and fifth respectively.As customary, the event concluded with the top three finishers being honored on the podium amid a large crowd, marking the end of the second round of the championship and the beginning of preparations for the third and penultimate round, scheduled to take place in two weeks. 

Amid fierce competition witnessed at Qatar Racing Club (QRC) drag strip, the second round of the Qatar Drag Race Championship (QDRC) concluded with great success.The event is being held under the patronage of QRC Chairman His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani. As usual, the round saw wide participation from motorsport champions from Qatar, the Gulf, and the region. By the end of the competition, four racers managed to secure their second consecutive titles after winning the opening round, while the podium welcomed new champions in the other four categories.In the Index 10.00 category, racer Ahmed Hassan achieved his second title in the championship by defeating Ahmed al-Emadi, who had finished third in the previous round and took second place this time, leaving third place to Ali al-Johani.Meanwhile, in the Index 8.50 category, Mustafa Atat retained his title after overcoming Adel Ghanem in the final race—Ghanem recorded his first podium finish in the championship, just like Mohammed Zaman, who finished third.In the Super Street category, Rashid al-Baloushi secured his second consecutive victory in the final races after surpassing Bader al-Sharshani, who settled for second place, while Milos Pavlovic earned his first podium finish by placing third.The fourth category to have its defending champion retain the title was the bike competitions, where Abdullah al-Ansari claimed the top podium spot after defeating Abdulwahab Bu Qamaz in the final of the Index 8.50 category, while Hassan al-Mezdi repeated his previous round’s result by finishing third.Four of the championship categories crowned new champions, different from those who won in the opening round a week earlier. The winner of this round was al-Ansari, being the only competitor to secure two titles. After winning the INDEX 8.50 (motorcycles) category, he went on to claim the Street Bike title—having finished second in that category in the previous round. In the final race, Al-Ansari faced Mohammed al-Salem, who finished second, while Abdulwahab Bu Qamaz took third.Majed al-Sharshani also recorded his first title in the championship by winning the Index 9.00 (cars) category, defeating Mohammed Khawari in the final — Khawari’s second consecutive appearance in a final, finishing second again. Third place went to Mohammed Zaman. The cars’ index categories contested over the 1/8 mile also saw new champions. After losing the final of the INDEX 4.80 category in the previous round, Saeed al-Baloushi returned strongly, reaching the final once again and this time winning against Mohammed al-Furaih, who finished second, while their colleague Ahmed Afseesi completed the podium in third place.The final category to crown a new champion this round was Index 4.50, where Ibrahim Abbas Ibrahim and Jaber al-Maghribi reached the final. Ibrahim claimed the win, while al-Maghribi settled for second place, and third place went to Basil Abbas, who had also finished third in the previous round. The third round will begin Wednesday with qualifying sessions.
