City Center Doha celebrates 25 years since its opening

City Center Doha, one of the largest and most dynamic shopping destinations in Qatar and a wholly owned subsidiary of Aamal Company QPSC, recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of its opening.Remembering a journey that has been fundamentally connected to the wider growth of the Qatari retail and tourism sectors, the Company looked back at its exciting growth story and reaffirmed its commitment to continuous development and innovation going forward. Looking ahead to the next 25 years and beyond City Center will strive to remain a vibrant destination that meets the evolving expectations of visitors and maintains its special place in the community.The celebration was held under the patronage of Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani, Chairman of Aamal Company QPSC and founder of City Center through its various development phases. The event was attended by distinguished guests, partners, tenants, and members of the public. It included a cake cutting ceremony along with entertainment segments through which visitors shared in celebrating a destination linked to the memories of generations of families and residents in Qatar.Over the past quarter century, City Center Doha has established itself as one of the country’s leading shopping and entertainment destinations, serving as a gathering place for families and friends and becoming a hub for different segments in society. The mall has greatly contributed to enriching Qatar’s shopping, dining, and entertainment offering while attracting local, regional, and international brands, making Doha more appealing to both residents and tourists alike.On this occasion, Sheikh Faisal said: “When we invested in City Center Doha, we were driven by our belief in Qatar’s vision and growth potential, and by our desire to create a project that would add value to the country and serve its community. To me, this project was a dream, and also a major challenge, and many doubted that it could become a reality. Today, twenty-five years later, I am proud to see that City Center Doha has become one of the key pillars in the development of the West Bay area and a catalyst for its incredible transformation. It has helped attract numerous retail brands and businesses to Qatar, created employment opportunities, and supported the growth of the retail sector.”The anniversary celebration comes as City Center Doha continues to implement renovation and modernisation projects aimed at upgrading its facilities and common areas, enhancing its mix of retail, dining, and entertainment offerings, and improving the overall customer experience.Sheikh Mohammed bin Faisal al-Thani, vice chairman and managing director of Aamal Company QPSC, said: “City Center Doha is a jewel within Aamal’s investment portfolio and a landmark that has helped transform the urban and commercial landscape of West Bay. We are committed to preserving this landmark and its standing through continued investment in its development and renewal, safeguarding its identity while ensuring it remains a distinguished destination for future generations.”Murad Kayman, general manager of City Center Doha, commented: “This celebration honours everyone who has been part of the City Center story over the past twenty-five years, including Aamal Company as the owner that has continued investing in its development, our tenants, partners, employees, and returning visitors who share their memories and special occasions with us. We wanted to bring them together on this occasion to thank them and celebrate what we have achieved together.”
