The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) gained 60.35 points or 0.6% to 9,824.49 vs. the previous week. Market capitalization increased by 0.8% to QR591.5bn from QR586.8bn at the end of the previous trading week.Of the 54 companies traded, 29 ended higher, two were unchanged, while 23 ended lower. Qatari Investors Group (QIGD) was the best performing stock for the week, climbing 14.8%. Meanwhile, Damaan Islamic Insurance (BEMA) was the worst performing stock for the week, declining 5.3%.Industries Qatar (IQCD), Qatar Islamic Bank (QIBK) and Ooredoo (ORDS) were the main contributors to the weekly index rise, adding 25.65, 16.27 and 14.58 points to the index, respectively.Traded value during the week declined 28.4% to QR1,797.8mn vs. QR2,512.3mn in the prior trading week. Baladna (BLDN) was the top value stock traded during the week with total traded value of QR277.5mn.Traded volume gained 14.8% to 821.5mn shares compared with 715.4mn shares in the prior trading week. The number of transactions decreased 6.6% to 102,781 vs. 110,092 in the prior week. BLDN was the top volume stock traded during the week with total traded volume of 225.5mn shares.Foreign institutions turned bullish, ending the week with net buying of QR63.5mn vs. net selling of QR127.8mn in the prior week. Qatari institutions turned bearish, ending the week with net selling of QR137.1mn vs. net buying of QR96.7mn in the week before. Foreign retail investors ended the week with net selling of QR9mn vs. net buying of QR18.5mn in the prior week. Qatari retail investors ended the week with net buying of QR82.5mn vs. net buying of QR12.6mn.Global foreign institutions have a net Qatari equities bearish position of $41.0mn YTD, while GCC institutions are also net sellers by $21.2mn.The QSE index gained around 0.6% for the week and printed 9,824.49 last. The index continues to trade below the 10,000 psychological level for the fourth consecutive week now, which will be a tough level to surpass and sustain going forward. Until the index trades below the 10,000- 10,050 zone, profit-booking is likely to continue, which may retest 9,700. Any sustained weakness below it, can drag the index further lower towards 9,550. Above 10,050, some respite is possible.
