QatarEnergy acquires new exploration interest offshore Egypt

QatarEnergy has completed a farm-in transaction with Eni, acquiring a 40% participating interest in the North Rafah exploration block, offshore Egypt.The agreement, recently approved by the Government of Egypt, grants QatarEnergy a 40% stake in the offshore concession, with Eni (the Operator) retaining the remaining 60% interest.Commenting on this agreement, His Excellency the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Saad Sherida al-Kaabi, who is also the President and CEO of QatarEnergy, said: “We are pleased with our new position in the North Rafah offshore block, which further strengthens our presence in Egypt and marks another important step in advancing our ambitious international exploration strategy.”Minister al-Kaabi added: “We extend our thanks to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Mineral Resources in Egypt, and our partner Eni for their valued support and cooperation. We look forward to working together to achieve our exploration objectives.”The North Rafah offshore block is located in the Mediterranean Sea, off the northeastern coast of Egypt.It spans nearly 3,000 square kilometers in water depths of up to 450 meters.

Meteorology department warns of strong wing, high sea

Inshore weather until 6:00 pm on Monday will be relatively hot to hot daytime with slight dust at places, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report.Offshore, it will be hazy to misty at places at first with some clouds at times, the report added, warning of expected strong wing and high sea by evening.Wind inshore will be northwesterly to northerly at a speed of 8 - 18 KT, gusting to 25 KT at places daytime.Offshore wind will be northwesterly at a speed of 6 - 16 KT, gusting to 24 KT by evening.Visibility inshore will be 4 - 9 km, while offshore will be 5 - 10 km / 3 km or less at places at first.

Meteorology forecasts very hot, slightly dusty weather today

The Department of Meteorology has forecast hot to very hot weather inshore until 6:00 pm on Tuesday, with slight dust in some areas and occasional clouds. Offshore, the weather will be hazy at times with some clouds. Inshore winds will be northwesterly at 6 to 16 KT, gusting to 26 KT, while offshore winds will be northwesterly to northeasterly at 5 to 15 KT, gusting to 20 KT. The sea state inshore will range from 1 to 3 feet, rising to 4 feet, while offshore it will be 2 to 4 feet, rising to 6 feet. Visibility is expected to range from 4 to 90 km inshore and from 4 to 10 km offshore.

QatarEnergy awarded offshore exploration licence in Republic of Congo

QatarEnergy and its partners were awarded an exploration licence for the Nzombo offshore block in the Republic of Congo.Under the terms of the Production Sharing Contract signed with the Congolese Government, QatarEnergy will hold a 35% participating interest in the block.TotalEnergies affiliate in Congo (the operator), will hold a 50% interest, while Societe Nationale des Petroles du Congo, the Congolese national oil company, will hold the remaining 15%.Commenting on the occasion, HE the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Saad bin Sherida al-Kaabi, who is also the President and CEO of QatarEnergy, said: “We are pleased to be awarded this promising offshore block in the Republic of Congo, and to work alongside our valued partners and the Congolese Government.”He added: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Government of the Republic of Congo for their valuable co-operation, and we look forward to delivering on a successful exploration campaign in collaboration with our partners and stakeholders.”Located about 90 kilometres off the coast of Pointe-Noire, the Nzombo block covers an area of 1,053 square kilometres with water depths of more than 1,000 metres.
