Josh Inglis scored his second One-Day International century and Nathan Ellis his highest score in the format with an unbeaten 36 from 44 balls as Australia claimed a dramatic one-wicket victory over hosts Zimbabwe with a ball to spare in Harare on Sunday.When Ellis was joined at the crease by number 11 Spencer Johnson (7 from 13 balls), the tourists needed 27 runs to reach their victory target of 272, something the pair managed at a run-a-ball to take their side to the win.Zimbabwe will rue Wessly Madhevere dropping Ellis in the penultimate over when he could have sealed victory for them, as he then failed to defend nine runs in the final over when Ellis hit a six off the first ball.Australia, who rested several of their regulars for the tour, claimed the series 3-0 and now move on to South Africa for three ODI fixtures that begin in Durban on Thursday."Great game of cricket," Australia captain Mitchell Marsh said. "I thought Zimbabwe probably deserved to win but the boys got the job done at the end there and that was fantastic to see."We're aware we need to keep improving as a team. I thought the way we played over the three matches, albeit today we got lucky, but there's lots of positive signs with our group. We've got some young talent which is exciting for the future." HOME SIDE ELECTED TO BAT FIRSTAfter the home side elected to bat first, Zimbabwe’s innings was anchored by an unbeaten 81 from 72 balls by captain Sikandar Raza, to go with half-centuries for Craig Ervine (59 from 79 balls) and Innocent Kaia (55 from 66 balls).Kaia retired hurt with a hamstring injury, with the score on 148 for three, as he could no longer run between the wickets.Seamer Ellis was also the pick of the Australian bowlers with 3-50 in his 10 overs.Australia were always up with the run rate in their reply but when openers Travis Head (6) and Marsh (8) fell early, it set the tone for an innings where they lost wickets at regular intervals.But Inglis scored a superb 103 from 102 balls as he struck 11 fours, with the next highest scorer Ellis on his unbeaten 36.Zimbabwe all-rounder Brad Evans was the pick of the home bowlers with 4-47 in 10 overs."I thought 280-290 was par with the bat so to make a game out of 272 was a great effort," Raza said. "As a captain I'm really proud. Plenty to learn. I'd rather have a game like that than for the Aussies to just chase it down in 40 overs." BRIEF SCORESAustralia 272 for 9 (Inglis 103, Evans 4-47) beat Zimbabwe 271 for 8 (Raza 81*, Ervine 59, Kaia 55 ret hurt, Ellis 3-50) by one wicket 

Australia’s Matt Renshaw scored a maiden one-day international century while Nathan Ellis took five wickets to guide their side to a 59-run win over hosts Zimbabwe on Tuesday in the first clash of their three-match series.Australia chose to bat first, and the surprise decision from captain Mitchell Marsh was vindicated as they scored 294-8 in their 50 overs, setting Zimbabwe an imposing target at Harare Sports Club.In reply, Zimbabwe were dismissed for 235 in 45.1 overs, showing good fight but always behind the required run rate.Renshaw, who last scored an international ton in a test against Pakistan in 2017, made 109 and featured in key partnerships after Cooper Connolly survived a few let-offs before being bowled by Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza for 51.Renshaw put on 72 runs with Alex Carey for the fifth wicket and 75 with Ollie Peake for the sixth wicket, leaving Zimbabwe with a required run rate of 5.90.The 20-year-old left-arm quick Newman Nyamhuri finished with 5-62, only the second Zimbabwe bowler to take five wickets in an ODI against Australia.Zimbabwe lost four wickets quickly before Craig Ervine and Sikandar steadied the innings with a 98-run partnership that offered them hope of victory on a surface that traditionally gets better for batting as the day wears on.Nathan Ellis had taken two wickets in his first spell, and when he was reintroduced, took three balls to clean bowl Ervine for 59 and put the brakes on the home side. Sikandar was yorked by Spencer Johnson for 57 to leave Zimbabwe still significantly adrift.Ellis finished with 5-31 in 9.1 overs, also cleaning up the tail.The second ODI is on Friday, and the last on Sunday, all in Harare, after which Australia moves onto a similar series with neighbouring South Africa. BRIEF SCORESAustralia 294 for 8 (Renshaw 109, Connolly 51, Nyamhuri 5-62) beat Zimbabwe 235 (Ervine 59, Raza 57, Ellis 5-31) by 59 runs 

Fast bowler Nathan Ellis took a career best four-wicket haul as an understrength Australia shocked Pakistan by 41 runs in the second one-day international in Lahore on Tuesday, levelling the three-match series 1-1.Australia's total of 231-9 in 50 overs had fighting half centuries from Josh Inglis and Cameron Green before Ellis grabbed 4-33 to leave Pakistan 190 all out in 44 overs.Pakistan won the first match by five wickets in Rawalpindi which now sets up a series-deciding match, also in Lahore on Thursday.With a host of top ODI players including skipper Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, Australia's second string staged a remarkable comeback, countering Pakistan's spin and batting with confidence.Allrounder Shadab Khan played a lone hand for the home team with a resolute 104-ball 71 and was the last man out, stumped off a spinner Tanveer Sangha's wide ball for Australian victory.Ghazi Ghori made 37 with five boundaries.Shadab hit three sixes and a boundary and repaired Pakistan's faltering position of 6-78 with a 59-run stand with Arafat Minhas (33) and another 31 with Shaheen Shah Afridi (11).But Ellis -- whose previous best of 2-13 was against India in 2023 -- dismissed Minhas leg-before to give Australia the gateway for victory.Part-time spinner Matthew Short also took a career best 3-36. IDEAL STARTEllis gave Australia an ideal start by dismissing Maaz Sadaqat off the third ball of the innings for nought before getting the prized wicket of Babar Azam for 16.Earlier, Green knocked a polished 92-ball 53 while Inglis scored a 74-ball 51 after the visitors were put in to bat by Pakistan.The Green-Inglis duo lifted Australia from 51-3 with a sedate 51-run stand after Pakistan attacked with the spin as early as from the fifth over.But it was pacer Shaheen who bowled opener Alex Carey with the first ball of the match before spinners Abrar Ahmed and Minhas struck once each, removing Short (15) and Marnus Labuschagne for five respectively.Inglis hit five boundaries in his fifth ODI fifty before he was bowled by Minhas in the 27th over.Minhas, who took five wickets on debut in Rawalpindi on Saturday, finished with 2-27.Green added another invaluable 65 runs for the fifth wicket with Matthew Renshaw (43) before Abrar removed Green to push the visitors hard.Green's third ODI half century had a single boundary and two sixes.Oliver Peake ensured Australia post a fighting total with a brisk 32-ball 31 inclusive of two sixes and a boundary.Shaheen was the best home bowler with 3-36.
