The Qatar Mobility Innovations Centre (QMIC), a national research and innovation centre at Qatar University, will showcase four technology demonstrations at MWC Doha 2026, from November 8 to 10, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre. The showcase reflects QMIC’s strategic focus on two domains: Embodied Intelligent Systems (EIS) and Smart City Systems. It highlights the centre’s research and development in artificial intelligence, robotics and intelligent technologies. Developed locally in Qatar by QMIC’s research and engineering talents, the technologies demonstrate local capabilities in advancing cutting-edge R&D and building intelligent systems with applications across multiple sectors.Falcon-I is an AI-powered intelligent camera system that combines computer vision with Vision-Language Model (VLM) capabilities, enabling users to search across connected cameras and recorded footage using natural language or reference images.Going beyond predefined alerts such as motion or person detection, Falcon-I enables users to understand and describe scenes, ask questions about footage, identify people, vehicles and objects based on their appearance and activities, and summarise activity over time.Waleef is another technology to be showcased at the event. It is the first in-vehicle companion robot built on a locally developed and fine-tuned Arabic large language model, designed specifically for companionship and natural interactions in Arabic, including regional dialects. Developed in Qatar by QMIC’s research and engineering teams, Waleef combines conversational intelligence with physical interaction and practical assistance.AiN is another innovation which is a remotely operated search-and-rescue system designed to provide operators with immersive situational awareness and AI-assisted victim detection in challenging environments. The system provides live 360-degree panoramic video at 4K/8K resolution, viewed through a VR headset that lets operators look around by turning their heads without rotating the vehicle. Finally is HUMIDEX, an automated heat-stress monitoring and management system that combines continuous, site-specific environmental monitoring with automated assessment and actionable alerts to support school safety decisions. It monitors local conditions continuously and generates warnings when predefined risk thresholds are reached. The system provides accessible on-site information through fixed displays, data visualisation and reporting, helping school leaders, facilities teams and activity supervisors assess conditions before and during outdoor activities.QMIC will contribute to discussions on the future of smart mobility, artificial intelligence and digital innovation through industry panels and strategic engagements at MWC Doha 2026.QMIC will moderate on November 9 a panel at the Qatar University booth titled “How AI and IoT Are Empowering Smart Mobility in Qatar,” featuring representatives from Ashghal and Qatar Rail.QMIC will also formalise two strategic partnerships through Memoranda of Understanding with Es’hailSat and Vodafone Qatar. The agreements will cover AI-powered troubleshooting and innovation, and technology and innovation collaboration, respectively.“QMIC is advancing the development of embodied intelligence and smart city systems in Qatar. From Arabic-language conversational robotics to AI-powered visual intelligence and automated heat-stress assessment, our technologies demonstrate how locally developed research can address practical needs and contribute to the future of intelligent systems,” said Dr Mohammed al-Sada, executive director of QMIC.
