His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani attended Sunday the closing ceremony of Al Noor Center for The Blind of the Qatari Foundation for Social Work for the year 2026, at the Center's headquarters in Lusail City.  During the ceremony, a total of 29 graduates from the Center's affiliates and beneficiaries from inclusive schools and universities were honoured, in recognition of the successes of an integrated educational and rehabilitation journey.  A number of Their Excellencies the ministers, officials and representatives of bodies concerned with social work also attended the ceremony, alongside families of affiliates, beneficiaries, and those interested in the field of visual impairment.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has announced relocation to its new main headquarters in Lusail City, effective April 26, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the work environment and improve the efficiency and integration of its services. From the date of the move, services will continue to be provided to the public from the new headquarters, including “Single Window” services, ensuring seamless operations without disruption while facilitating procedures and enhancing customer experience. In parallel, more than 500 electronic services will remain accessible through the MoCI's application and website, enabling users to complete their transactions quickly and efficiently. 

His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 21st Asian Games – Doha 2030, conducted a field visit today to review the latest developments of the Athletes’ Village Project in Lusail City.**media[433441]**HE Sheikh Joaan was accompanied by His Excellency Eng. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Meer, President of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and a member of the Doha 2030 Organizing Committee; His Excellency Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee and member of the Organizing Committee; and Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Buainain, Chief Executive Officer of the Organizing Committee.**media[433444]**During the visit, HE Sheikh Joaan was briefed on the ongoing development of the project, which is being delivered in line with the highest international standards to accommodate approximately 18,000 athletes during the Games. The Athletes’ Village will feature integrated infrastructure, modern facilities, and a comprehensive range of services tailored to meet athletes’ needs.**media[433442]**The project also reflects a strong commitment to sustainability across both design and operations, while embracing the smart city concept through the adoption of advanced technologies aimed at enhancing quality of life and ensuring efficient management of facilities and services.

Lusail City welcomed 2026 with Qatar's largest fireworks display, drawing over 250,000 people to Lusail Boulevard for an unprecedented celebration.The festivities began at 6pm with laser shows reflecting the city's modern architecture, followed by live performances building to midnight.The highlight was a cutting-edge drone show featuring 1,000 "Pyrodrone" units launching 4,000 pyrotechnic shots from 46 locations, synchronised with 15,300 individual fireworks that painted the sky in a breathtaking display of innovation.Qatari Diar CEO Sheikh Hamad bin Talal al-Thani praised the event as proof of Lusail's emergence as "an integrated urban hub" for Qatar's major occasions. Visit Qatar CEO Eng. Abdulaziz Ali al-Mawlawi highlighted Lusail's new status as a tourism icon, stating the celebration aligns with strategies to position Qatar among leading global destinations.The massive turnout underscores Lusail's transformation into Qatar's premier venue for national celebrations, demonstrating the city's world-class infrastructure and capability to host international-standard events.
