World number one Jannik Sinner survived an early scare in his Wimbledon title defence but the Italian shook off the rust and fought past ⁠Serb Miomir Kecmanovic 4-6 6-3 6-7(6) 6-2 6-3 on Monday ⁠to reach the second round.Victory in Sinner’s first competitive grass court match of the season following his premature French Open exit last month was his 94th win at the Grand Slams, drawing him level with Nicola Pietrangeli for the most by an Italian.It ⁠was far from comfortable as Sinner lost the opening set to spark concerns among fans recalling his second-round shock at Roland Garros, but normal service soon resumed in the second set which the 24-year-old secured with a fiery ace.But more tense moments followed as Sinner grimaced after a ⁠fall in the next set and ⁠later ⁠appeared to have bloodstains on his shoe for a separate issue, and though he soldiered on, he crumbled in a tiebreak that looked his for the taking.The four-times Grand Slam champion roared back to life and cruised through the fourth set to force a decider, where he took full control and prevailed to book a second-round meeting with Portugal's Nuno Borges. Draper forced out of Wimbledon with arm injuryJack Draper became the second leading British player to withdraw from Wimbledon as the former US Open semi-finalist followed Emma Raducanu out of the tournament. Draper has suffered a recurrence of an arm injury and will not be able to face American sixth seed Taylor Fritz on Centre Court on Tuesday.It is the latest fitness setback for the former world number four, who has played only a handful of tournaments this year.Coached by former Grand Slam champion Andy Murray, the 24-year-old reached the semi-finals of the Wimbledon warm-up event at Eastbourne last week in his first tournament since April."There have been a lot of painful moments in the last 12 months but this one is definitely the absolute worst as there is no greater honour for a British player than playing at Wimbledon," Draper said.Former US Open champion Raducanu pulled out late on Sunday after scans showed she had suffered a stress fracture in her right leg.The 23-year-old, seeded 30th, was due to start her campaign on Monday against Croatia's Antonia Ruzic.   

Top-seeded Alexander Zverev crashed out of the ATP Acapulco Open on Wednesday, losing in three sets to unseeded Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic who claimed his first career win over a top-five player. Kecmanovic, ranked 84th in the world, triumphed 6-3, 6-7 (3/7), 7-6 (7/4) over world number four Zverev, who was playing his first tournament since an epic semi-final defeat to eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz at the Australian Open. Kecmanovic, 25, had come up empty in 11 prior career matches against top-five players. He cruised through the opening set, before Zverev clawed his way back into the match, finally sealing the victory after two hours and 35 minutes. “It feels amazing,” said Kecmanovic, who was aided by 17 unforced backhand errors from the German. “Obviously he’s the big favorite, so I didn’t have any pressure there, but you still have to play well when it matters, close out the match and thankfully it went my way,” he added. With Zverev’s defeat, the 500 level hardcourt tournament has now lost its top four seeds. Second-seeded Australian Alex de Minaur was eliminated on Monday, third-seeded Casper Ruud of Norway lost on Tuesday.
