Qatar Charity has distributed food assistance and hygiene kits to refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Mali, in coordination with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and in collaboration with the National Commission for Refugees.The initiative included the distribution of 450 food baskets and hygiene supplies, benefiting 320 refugee families and 130 IDP families in the Baganda camp on the outskirts of Bamako. The effort aims to alleviate hardship and improve living conditions for vulnerable communities.The distribution was carried out in the presence of Hamad bin Muazzi al-Shammari, acting Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Qatar in Mali; Pierre Camara, UNHCR’s Representative in Mali; and Said Zoulgami, Country Director of Qatar Charity’s Mali branch. Al-Shammari emphasised that the initiative reflects Qatar’s commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts and easing the suffering of those most in need, noting that Qatar will continue to provide assistance to promote stability in the region.Camara expressed appreciation for the fruitful co-operation between UNHCR and its partners, praising Qatar’s positive role in supporting refugees and displaced persons. Zoulgami affirmed that Qatar Charity will continue implementing impactful projects in Mali to improve living conditions for beneficiaries. It is worth noting that Qatar Charity signed a strategic co-operation protocol with UNHCR last month in Bamako, Mali, to bolster humanitarian response and provide vital support to refugees, IDPs, and host communities across the country. The milestone agreement builds on a longstanding partnership between the two organisations, spanning key sectors like protection, education, water and sanitation, livelihoods, housing, and social cohesion.    

Qatar Charity (QC) has completed a new round of food assistance for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Gaza, distributing 26,000 food baskets that benefited around 130,000 people.The initiative was funded by generous donors in Qatar through the campaign "Labbeh Gaza: Commitment and Solidarity".QC said the aid aims to ease the severe humanitarian crisis and improve food security for families affected by the blockade and two years of the war.Gaza continues to face acute shortages of essential supplies, with the UN declaring a widespread famine in August, the first ever in the Middle East. According to UN agencies, over 500,000 people are trapped in famine conditions, while 91% of Gaza's population, around 1.95mn people, suffers from extreme food insecurity, according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC).Each basket contains basic food supplies sufficient for a family for about a month.Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, calling the assistance "a timely lifeline" and "a message of solidarity from hearts that never forget." Qatar Charity continues to urge donors to support its ongoing "Labbeh Gaza" campaign.Contributions can be made via the organisation's website and mobile app, through its home collection service, by dialling 44290000, or by visiting its branches and representatives in commercial centers.As part of Qatar's land bridge of humanitarian aid, a recent shipment of relief supplies, including shelter tents and essential items, crossed the Rafah border to help ease the suffering of Gazans, especially with winter approaching and temperatures dropping.

UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Syria Dr. Adam Abdelmoula affirmed that nearly 16.5 million people in Syria are in need of humanitarian aid, alongside 2.5 million returnees-both internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees returning from abroad-many of whom have lost their homes. Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted Abdelmoula as saying at a press conference ahead of the conclusion of his mission that displacement remains one of Syria's gravest challenges, with over 6 million people still internally displaced and more than 6 million living as refugees worldwide. He added that about 24% of housing in Syria has been damaged or destroyed in recent years, while UN funding for humanitarian needs remains "extremely scarce." To date, the Humanitarian Response Plan 2025 has received only 14% of the $3.2 billion required, he said.
