His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani awarded the Al Wajbah Decoration to Turkish ambassador Dr Mustafa Goksu in recognition of his contribution to strengthening relations between Qatar and Turkiye.  The honour came as HH the Amir received the ambassador at the Amiri Diwan Tuesday to mark the end of his tenure in Qatar.  HH the Amir wished Goksu success in his future assignments and relations between the two countries further progress and prosperity.  The ambassador thanked HH the Amir and state officials for their co-operation, which he said had contributed to the success of his mission in Qatar.

HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has received a phone call from  Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, to discuss bilateral ties and the latest regional and international developments.The conversation on Friday focused on cooperation between their countries and explored ways to strengthen relations, alongside efforts to support security and peace in the region.HE Sharif expressed his country's full support and solidarity with the State of Qatar amid the current regional developments, stressing the importance of restraint, dialogue and diplomacy to preserve recent gains in regional stability. The Pakistani prime minister also praised the State of Qatar's role in supporting peace efforts and said Islamabad looked forward to continuing coordination with Doha to promote peace, stability and prosperity across the region. The two leaders also discussed ongoing diplomatic efforts, including talks between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and underscored the need to continue efforts to reduce tensions and resolve disputes through peaceful means. HH the Amir and  the Pakistani Prime Minister reaffirmed their commitment to continued coordination on regional security, including safeguarding maritime security and shipping lanes, and supporting conditions for a lasting and sustainable peace in the region.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met at the Amiri Diwan Tuesday with Kazakhstan ambassador Arman Issagaliyev and Russian ambassador Dmitry Nikolayevich Dogadkin, who called on HH the Amir to greet him at the end of their tenure in the country.HH the Amir awarded the Al Wajbah Decoration to the ambassadors in appreciation of their role in strengthening the co-operation between Qatar and their friendly countries. HH the Amir wished them success in their future duties and the relations between Qatar and each of Kazakhstan and Russia continued progress and prosperity.For their part, the ambassadors expressed their gratitude and appreciation to HH the Amir and the state officials for the co-operation accorded to them, which contributed to the success of their duties in the country. 

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani discussed with Rwandan President Paul Kagame bilateral relations and ways to enhance them during a meeting held Sunday at the Amiri Diwan. At the outset of the meeting, HH the Amir welcomed the Rwandan president, commending the strong relations between Qatar and Rwanda in various fields that serve the common interests of the two countries.  Kagame extended his thanks and expressed his appreciation to HH the Amir for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, stressing his country's keenness to develop and strengthen friendly relations with Qatar in many fields.  HH the Amir and the Rwandan president discussed the latest regional and international developments, in addition to ways to enhance international peace and security. **media[449486]**A number of Their Excellencies ministers and senior officials attended the meeting. On the Rwandan side, a number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation attended the meeting.  Earlier Kagame and the accompanying delegation were welcomed upon their arrival at Doha International Airport by His Excellency Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh al-Khulaifi and Rwandan ambassador to Qatar Igor Marara Kayinamura.

The Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) has unveiled the new design of the HH the Amir Cup basketball shield for the 2025-2026 season, alongside enhanced financial rewards to boost competition.At a press conference in Doha, QBF Secretary-General Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari said the redesign reflects efforts to raise the tournament's profile and increase competitiveness among clubs. He also announced improved prize money, with QAR 1.5 million for the winners and QAR 900,000 for the runners-up.The tournament begins with Qatar SC facing Al Khor in the preliminary round, followed by quarterfinal matches featuring top clubs including Al Sadd, Al Rayyan, Al Arabi, and others. The semifinals will take place on May 4, and the final is scheduled for May 6. 

Under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Qatar University (QU) will hold its Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2026 (male students) on May 4, 2026.In a statement on Monday, QU said the graduation ceremony for distinguished female students will be held on May 5, in the presence of HH Consort of HH the Amir Sheikha Jowaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al-Thani.The total number of graduates this year is expected to be around 3,980 graduates, including 3,110 female graduates and 870 male graduates.As it celebrates the graduation of its 49th cohort, QU continues to build on a decades-long legacy of contributing to Qatar's development by supplying the labor market with highly qualified graduates.The university noted that its current strategy focuses on enhancing the quality of graduates while strengthening its position as a leading higher education institution in Qatar and the region.QU reaffirmed its commitment to delivering high-quality education in fields aligned with national priorities, supporting the country's transition toward a knowledge-based economy.
