Chief executive officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority Simon Madjie affirmed that economic relations between Qatar and Ghana are witnessing significant development, driven by a mutual desire to expand investment cooperation and build strategic partnerships across vital sectors.Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the ninth edition of the World Investment Forum 2026, hosted by the State of Qatar in partnership with UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) under the theme "Investing in the Future", Madjie explained that direct flights between Qatar and Ghana play a key role in facilitating engagement between their respective business communities, supporting trade development and expanding inter-company partnerships.He highlighted growing interest among Qatari firms in Ghanaian market opportunities, noting potential for collaboration in finance, insurance, fintech, digital economy, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, creative arts, culture, and tourism.He also expressed his country’s aspiration to enhance exchanges between the business communities of Qatar and Ghana, and to encourage increased Qatari investment in the Ghanaian market, in a manner that serves mutual interests and supports the growth of economic relations between the two sides.He praised Qatar's organisation of the World Investment Forum, describing it as a premier global platform for leaders, policymakers, and investors to address international economic challenges and capital flows.He added that Ghana's participation aims to present its investment potential and competitive government incentives, noting that Ghana offers incentives to investors looking to operate in its free zones, as well as facilities for investors in other economic sectors including incentives related to factories, equipment, and machinery, alongside efforts aimed at improving the business environment and creating favorable conditions for the inflow of capital.In concluding remarks to QNA, Madjie stressed the importance of bolstering bilateral governmental and economic ties, expanding private-sector cooperation, and establishing sustainable, mutually beneficial partnerships.
