In a rapid and carefully coordinated operation, the Doha Equestrian Tour successfully transported 147 competition horses from Doha to Europe via two emergency flights, ensuring the safe return of all animals and teams amid regional tensions. The flights departed for Liege, Belgium, carrying 74 horses on the first flight and 73 on the second, along with accompanying personnel. The entire relocation from approvals to departure was completed in just 36 hours, following intensive coordination between the Tour’s organizing committee, national authorities and operational partners. With commercial flights temporarily suspended from Hamad International Airport, the Tour also implemented additional logistics solutions to support trainers and crew members unable to board the emergency flights. Ground transportation was arranged from Doha to Riyadh and Oman, allowing teams to travel onward and reunite with their horses in Europe. The complex transfer required extensive veterinary clearances, international transport documentation and operational coordination with key partners including Qatar Airways Cargo and multiple government authorities. Organisers emphasised that horse welfare and participant safety remained the top priority throughout the process. According to Tour Director Mohammed Jaber al-Khayarin, transporting horses is inherently complex, but the situation demanded exceptional teamwork and swift coordination across multiple entities. Thanks to pre-established risk management protocols and emergency procedures, the operation was executed smoothly despite the extraordinary circumstances. “We extend our sincere gratitude to all official partners and relevant authorities who contributed to the successful and safe transport of the horses,” said al-Khayarin. “We particularly acknowledge the significant efforts of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) of the Ministry of Interior, the Amiri Guard, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Civil Aviation Authority, Qatar Airways, our official airline partner, Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana, our official mobility partner, and the Qatar Olympic Committee.” While most international horses have now returned to Europe, some riders, trainers and horses remain at the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab, where local and GCC participants continue preparations to complete the season’s competitions. 

World number two Scott Brash, riding the 11-year-old mare Hello Mango, claimed top honours in the CSI5* 160cm Grand Prix during the third round of HH The Father Amir’s Prix, part of the 2026 Doha Equestrian Tour, at Al Shaqab Saturday.Nine of the 37 horse-and-rider combinations cleared the first-round course. In the decisive jump-off, Brash and Hello Mango posted a winning time of 44.47 seconds to top the podium. Austria’s Gerfried Puck, aboard Equitron Naxcel V, finished second in 44.92, while Saudi rider Abdulrahman Alrajhi, riding Ventago, claimed third in 45.04 seconds.Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann rounded out the top four with a clear and fluid ride on Cellagon Cascais (Colestus), clocking 45.05 seconds, and fifth place went to Eve Jobs, who delivered a confident performance with Canto Bruno (Cantoblanco) in 46.31 seconds.Earlier, Brash had also triumphed in the CSI3* Grand Prix Jump-Off 150cm, riding Hello Folie to victory in 40.81 seconds, ahead of Belgium’s Abdel Said on Wathnan Zasou Vom Claashof and Kristen Vanderveen of the United States aboard Bull Run’s Jireh. The winner took home €31,800.The CSI5* Special Two-Phase 150cm saw Abdullah Alsharbatly of Saudi Arabia claim first place on Boeckmanns Lord Pezi Junior with a flawless ride in 30.53 seconds. Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano finished second on Julius.D, while Austria’s Gerfried Puck secured third on Idiaal Special H.J.In the CSI3* Accumulator 140cm, Qatar’s Faris Saad al-Qahtani topped the podium on Com du Rouet Z in 48.18 seconds, followed closely by Saudi’s Khalid al-Hadi on Capoen and fellow Qatari Mohammed Khalifa al-Baker riding Emiro Delle Sementarecce.The CSI1* Grand Prix Jump-Off 130cm highlighted the talents of Suzette Tittle of the United States, who guided Jasmijn to victory in 31.84 seconds. Egypt’s Fatima Mohanad Alkishawi on Quintalou and Qatar’s Saad Ahmed S A Al Saad on Fashion des Douits completed the podium.Qatar’s Sultan Salem al-Naemi won the CSI3* Table C 130cm on Cavallina 13 in 54.75 seconds, while Saudi rider Mohammed Alasaker finished second and third on Stago Cc Z and Tinto de Nuit Z, respectively.In the CSI1* Accumulator 120cm, Saudi’s Khalid al-Hadi took top honours on Carlton de Sauvageonn in 43.62 seconds, with Qatar’s Abdulla Ahmed al-Khulaifi on Quenta van de Corsendonksehoeve and Saudi rider Fonoon Alhumaidan on Underline des Marais sharing second place.The CSIJ-B Jump-Off 1.20m – Group VII Series Qualifier 220.2.1.2 – was dominated by Qatari riders, with Khalid Jassim al-Suwaidi winning on E.T’s Queeny Z in 30.56 seconds. Tamim Joaan al-Thani followed on Othello, while Suhaim Hamad al-Yafei finished third on Gamin Raye.In the National Competition Special Two-Phase 100cm, Maryam Mohammed al-Sada took first place on Mediena in 27.04 seconds, ahead of Alqaqaa Tamim al-Thani on Bon Suela and Dana Omar al-Emadi riding Famous.The fourth and final round of the HH The Father Amir’s Prix will take place from January 29 to 31. 

The Doha Equestrian Tour Organising Committee has unveiled the tour’s official identity and logo, symbolising the 10 rounds that make up this year’s edition and reflecting the event’s deep connection to equestrian heritage and Doha’s growing sporting excellence on the international stage.Speaking on the occasion, Khalifa al-Attiyah, Executive Director of the Doha Equestrian Tour, said the new identity is rooted in a strategic vision aimed at strengthening Qatar’s presence on the global equestrian map.“The Doha Equestrian Tour has consistently enriched the international equestrian calendar with high-quality competitions, reinforcing Qatar’s position as a global sporting capital and a preferred destination for hosting major international championships,” al-Attiyah said.He added that Qatar’s advanced infrastructure, including world-class venues such as Al Shaqab, plays a central role in the continued success of the tour.The Doha Equestrian Tour 2026 will feature 10 international championships ranging from one to five star events, running from January 2 to April 4, with a total prize purse exceeding €10mn.The series will open with the HH The Father Amir’s Cup, scheduled from January 2 to 31, comprising four rounds across 1 to 5-star categories. This will be followed by the HH The Amir’s Sword International Equestrian Festival, which runs from February 11 for four days and includes 1, 3 and 5-star competitions, along with dressage events.The sixth stop on the calendar is the Al Shaqab International Show Jumping Championship (CHI), sponsored by Longines, to be held from February 18 to 21. The event will feature show jumping, dressage and para-dressage competitions across 1, 4 and 5-star levels. Next is the Longines Global Champions Tour, scheduled from March 4 to 7, with 1, 3 and 5-star categories.The organising committee also announced the introduction of three new championships for the 2026 edition: the Qatar Olympic Committee Cup, the Al Shaqab Cup and the Qatar Equestrian Federation Cup.The Qatar Olympic Committee Cup will serve as the eighth championship, running from March 11 for four days and featuring 1, 2 and 3-star competitions. The Al Shaqab Cup, the ninth event on the tour, will take place from March 26 over three days and will include 1 to 5-star competitions, as well as team events across various categories.The Doha Equestrian Tour 2026 will conclude with the Qatar Equestrian Federation Cup, scheduled from April 2 to 4, featuring one- to five-star competitions.All competitions of the Doha Equestrian Tour 2026 will be staged at Al Shaqab Equestrian Centre, one of the region’s leading equestrian venues, renowned for its state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities built to the highest international standards.
