Qatar News Agency (QNA) launched a five-day training course yesterday titled “The Journalist Correspondent: Field Reporting”, as part of the 2026 training plan of the QNA Training Center. The course, presented by Mohammed al-Hadi Karmous, a media expert and senior editor at QNA, targets media personnel interested in news coverage, including event and conference reporting, interviewing, and crisis management, with a focus on field reporting skills in news agencies. The programme aims to enhance journalists’ on-the-ground reporting skills and develop their ability to secure news scoops while adhering to standards of accuracy and publication speed. It also highlights the use of modern technologies and AI, including smartphone applications, to support journalistic performance and handle crises, emergencies, and the pressures of live coverage. The course addresses several key topics, most notably the fundamentals and objectives of news coverage, different forms of media coverage across various platforms, the characteristics of a field reporter, mechanisms for teamwork within news outlets, management of major event coverage, media crisis handling, and the use of modern digital tools to support field journalism performance. The course comes as part of QNA’s effort to develop national media competencies and keep pace with rapid developments across various media fields, thereby enhancing the quality of media production.The agency launched the QNA Training Halls in 2023, equipped with the latest technologies, to serve as an integrated platform for building media capabilities and keeping up with global developments in modern media. (QNA) 

The Amiri Guard celebrated at Barzan Camp the graduation of Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC) No 5 and Basic Sniper Course No 18. Attending the ceremony were His Excellency the Commander of Amiri Guard, Major General Staff Mohammed bin Sultan al-Suwaidi; the Deputy Commander of the Amiri Guard; the Inspector General; assistants to the Commander of the Amiri Guard; and several high-ranking officers.  Having reviewed the general reports of the two courses, Acting Commander of the Amiri Guard School, Capt Mohammad Khalfan al-Mansour, addressed the ceremony, highlighting that the BOLC course covered the various phases of war, the utilisation and employment of military skills on the battlefield, and the training of officers in combat planning operations.  Regarding the Basic Sniper Course, Capt al-Mansour outlined that the course aims to train participants in a variety of marksmanship skills, including remaining undercover, conducting surveillance, and precisely monitoring targets, with the objective of strengthening their capabilities and elevating their skills to the highest levels. As the event concluded, HE the Commander of Amiri Guard honoured the highest-performing graduates of the two courses. 

Qatar News Agency (QNA) launched today a specialized training course on news verification and documentation, as part of the training programs organized by the QNA Training Center, with the aim of developing the professional capabilities of media personnel and enhancing their efficiency in various fields of journalistic work.The three-day training course was presented by media expert Dr. Nabil Abdo Ahmed Al-Mariri, with the participation of a number of QNA staff, in addition to employees from various media institutions and government agencies.The course aims to equip participants with the skills to fact-check and document news and enhance critical thinking, as well as familiarize them with the basics of news fact-checking and its importance in the media space. The course focuses on enhancing ethical and professional responsibility in writing, proofreading, and publishing news, and improving participants' skills in reviewing and critiquing news content.The course addresses how to deal with misleading news during crises and exceptional events, highlighting modern tools and techniques used in fact-checking and documenting news.The course covers several key topics, most notably: the concept of news verification, its importance, the historical roots of this function, the impact of fake and inaccurate news on society in general and on media institutions in particular (examples of old and new news), global models, levels of news verification and documentation, and the development of analytical and critical skills.At the end of the course, practical fieldwork will be conducted, giving participants the opportunity to apply the skills they acquired during the training, followed by a comprehensive evaluation of their performance through a graduation project. Participants will also be honored in recognition of their efforts and contributions to enhancing news documentation skills.The course is part of the QNA Training Center plan, which was created to provide a sophisticated platform for training media professionals in an interactive learning environment supported by the latest technical equipment.
