Bryson DeChambeau carded two eagles Saturday to maintain a two-shot lead at the inaugural LIV Golf event in South Africa.Southern Guards, the home favorites, lead the team event entering the final round at Steyn City in Johannesburg.DeChambeau ‌posted a 7-under-par 64 in the third round to move to ​21 under, two shots ahead of ‌South Africa's Branden Grace. He eagled the par-4 fifth hole and ‌the par-5 10th ⁠and added birdies ‌at Nos. 1, 4 and 18 in ‌a bogey-free round at the Jack Nicklaus-designed course.DeChambeau, 32, remains red hot after winning ⁠the LIV Golf Singapore event last week for his fourth career individual title on the circuit."Tomorrow is going to be a great day," DeChambeau said. "Gracey is playing some incredible golf, and it's fun to be alongside him playing some good golf, as well. He's got a huge hometown support, and it's cool to feed off of that energy, so hopefully there's a little bit more energy, and ​I can kind of feed off of that. I like it."Grace also turned in a 64 thanks to an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole plus six birdies and one bogey. The ‌Southern Guards member birdied the ⁠last two holes to ​open a one-stroke lead over Mexico's Abraham Ancer (64 on Saturday) and Spain's ​Jon Rahm (64), who sit at 18-under.Belgium's Thomas Detry (63), South Africa's Dean Burmester (65) and Spain's David Puig (66) are tied for fifth place at 17 under. Tied for eighth at 16 under are Mexico's Carlos Ortiz (65) and Charles Howell III (66).Grace's and Burmester's Southern Guards teammates Louis Oosthuizen (64) and Charl Schwartzel (65) are part of a six-way tie for 18th at 12 under."What a day. All four boys had a good day," Burmester said. "It looks like all four of us scored well. I don't know what the total is, but Gracey just birdied 17. For me, ‌honestly, I'm so proud of ‌all the guys, and for us ⁠to be in the hunt for the team thing is incredible."Oosthuizen said the "rowdy boys" ⁠in the gallery have added ⁠to the excitement of chasing the team title on home soil."We're feeding off the energy at the moment," he said. "I mean, we're playing -- me and Charl were playing so-so, and today we really felt the energy, and obviously Dean and Branden are playing well, so I think we can just go tomorrow and pull this thing through."Fireballs GC and ​Torque GC are tied for second in the team competition at 58 under, two behind Southern Guards.The first LIV Golf event held on the African continent has sold out and is expected to draw more than 100,000 fans over the course of the four-day tournament.Phil Mickelson, playing in his first LIV event of the season due to a family health matter, finished the third round at 7-under 64. He played the first two rounds at even par, recording a 75 and a 67."I really ‌missed it. I'm glad ​I'm here," Mickelson said. "I wish I played better the first day, but I'm really having fun. It's just fun to be back playing." 

Bryson DeChambeau said he feels his game is rounding into form at a crucial time - that is, right before the Masters.Fresh off a T3 finish in Adelaide and a playoff win in Singapore, ‌DeChambeau will look to continue his strong play when he competes ​in LIV Golf South Africa ‌in Midrand, near the city of Johannesburg. This marks LIV ‌Golf's fifth of 14 ⁠events this ‌season."I feel like I'm progressing well ‌and comfortable with my game, hitting it a lot better than I have ⁠in years past leading into major season, early in the season for LIV Golf," DeChambeau said on Tuesday at The Club at Steyn City. "I practiced a little earlier this year, and it's starting to pay off."DeChambeau forced a playoff against Richard T. Lee on Sunday with a birdie on No. 18, then saved par on the first playoff hole to ​win LIV Golf Singapore on Sunday.Lee, a LIV wild card who qualified for the league by winning LIV Golf Promotions in January, missed a 2-foot putt for par ‌as the duo played the ⁠18th hole again, giving ​DeChambeau the win.DeChambeau climbed eight spots to No. 33 in ​the Official World Golf Ranking with his victory in Singapore. He hasn't had much time to savor his fourth LIV Golf League victory, however.He ventured from Singapore to South Africa, marking the first time LIV Golf will hold a competition on the continent. It marks an opportunity for DeChambeau -- and others - to give kids from a different part of the world a chance to see golf played up close."Yeah, I think that's a part of our mission, becoming more global and influencing and ‌giving people an opportunity to ‌see what golf can do ⁠for communities and for people around the world," he said Tuesday."It's been done ⁠quite well in the ⁠States so far and now we're doing it internationally. It only improves, I would say, facilities and communities everywhere across the globe. I think that's a part of our mission statement, that it's important to us. It's part of our identity now. Being here in South Africa, it's only -- there's only one place we ​haven't gone yet, which is South America, and that would be another cool place to go."But being here in South Africa, I've always wanted to come here. Talking to Gary Player quite a bit and Ernie (Els) and Louis (Oosthuizen) and the whole Southern Guards team, obviously, they just rave how great it is obviously, and coming here and seeing how special the hospitality is, the people, the culture and the way that everybody conducts themselves, it's quite ‌amazing."DeChambeau, 32, joined LIV ​Golf in 2022 after recording nine wins on the PGA Tour, including the U.S. Open in 2020 and 2024. 

Jon Rahm recorded a walk-off eagle on the 18th hole Saturday to pull into a tie with Bryson DeChambeau for first place after the third round of LIV Golf Adelaide in Australia.The two stand ‌at 19-under for the tournament, five strokes ahead of their nearest ​competitor.Rahm’s electric finish to ‌his round of 6-under 66 at Grange Golf Club ‌wasn’t without questions, however.The Spaniard’s initial ‌drive on the par-4 final hole ‌sailed off course, however his ball was ruled to be impeded by infrastructure brought in for the event. He was given a free relief on a line near the fairway. Rahm then holed out from approximately 200 feet to join DeChambeau atop the leaderboard.That spoiled an otherwise brilliant day for DeChambeau, who made nine birdies in an 11-hole stretch to highlight his round of 8-under 64 yesterrday.“Well, it was shocking, obviously. ​I didn’t know that’s what could happen, so that was most of what the shock was,” DeChambeau said of Rahm’s 18th hole. “It was like, what the heck, you ‌can do that? I didn’t know that. But ultimately, I ​didn’t really know from my perspective that it was ​OK over there, so I was kind of shocked.”Rahm was asked if the final round at Adelaide will represent the closest thing to a Ryder Cup Sunday singles tournament, given the big, loud crowds that have lined the course.“Quite frankly, it’s hard to replicate Sunday in Ryder Cup,” the two-time LIV individual season champ said. “It’s hard to say it will be the same feel, especially we’re not home or away for anybody. It should in theory turn into a two-man race. In that ‌essence, it should have ‌that feel. But I wouldn’t put it past someone shooting 10-under (on Sunday).”Anthony Kim (68 Saturday) resides in third place at 14-under, one stroke ahead of a three-golfer contingent that includes home favorite Cameron Smith. The Australian joined that group with a sizzling bogey-free round of 8-under 64 Saturday.“Giving six shots to both Bryson and Jon is probably not where you want to be on the last day, to be honest,” Smith said. “It’s going to ​take a lot.“If I went out there and played similar to what I did (on Saturday), I think I’m in with a chance. I don’t think it’s easy out there. I think you can definitely get on the back foot here quickly, particularly early in the round.”Lucas Herbert (67) also is included in that group at 13-under after reeling off a string of six straight birdies.As for the team competition, Rahm’s heroics have allowed Legion XIII to ‌sit in first place ​at 45-under. 

Major winners Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith all committed to stay with LIV Golf in 2026 on Tuesday, turning down the chance to follow Brooks Koepka back to the US PGA Tour.Five-time major winner Koepka announced his return to the US circuit on Monday under a new program that created a pathway back for stars who joined the Saudi-backed LIV Golf circuit. It was open to those players who had won either a major or the Players Championship between 2022 and 2025, meaning American DeChambeau, Spain's Rahm and Australian Smith would have been eligible to make the move back from LIV. But none of them were interested."Look, I'm contracted through 2026, so I'm excited about this year," said two-time US Open champion DeChambeau at a LIV Golf media day in Florida.Asked if he shared the sentiment, Rahm, who won the US Open in 2021 and the Masters two years later, replied: "I'm not planning on going anywhere. Very similar answer to what Bryson gave. I wish Brooks the best."Smith, the 2022 Open winner, was similarly keen to stay with the breakaway tour. "I'm going to stay," he told reporters. "I have made my bed and I'm gonna sleep in it. I feel like I am in a really good place in my career and my life, my family life, and I don't need to change it."PGA Tour chief executive Brian Rolapp said this week Koepka's decision to leave LIV last month had prompted officials to consider how they handled the issue of embracing players who wanted to rejoin.The result was the PGA Tour's new "Returning Member Program", which came with "severe and justified consequences".That included a five-year forfeiture of rights to participation in the PGA Tour's player equity program, while Koepka had agreed to make a $5 million charitable contribution to a recipient which will be determined jointly by Koepka and the PGA Tour.Launched in 2022, LIV Golf's emergence led to bitter divisions throughout the sport as several of golf's biggest names left the PGA Tour after signing big-money deals.LIV Golf signs Belgian Detry, re-signs twice major winner JohnsonLIV Golf has signed Thomas Detry, who last year became the first Belgian to win on the PGA Tour, to its roster ‌while former world number one Dustin Johnson ‌has re-signed with ‍the league, the Saudi-funded circuit said.World number 58 Detry, ⁠who picked up his ⁠lone PGA Tour victory at last February's Phoenix Open, ‍is joining the 4Aces team captained by two-time major champion Johnson, who signed a multi-year extension with LIV.Detry is arguably the biggest LIV signing since Rahm and Englishman Tyrrell Hatton joined the league ahead of the 2024 season. "There’s an ‌amazing vibe around the 4Aces that you feel right away,” said Detry. "You can see they play with confidence and there’s ‍a definite swagger coming ⁠from all ‌the guys... feeling like you belong on the biggest stages. That’s exactly the type of environment I want to be a part of.”The 33-year-old Detry is coming off a career year during which he made the cut in 19 of the 24 events he played, including at the Phoenix Open where he romped to a seven-shot victory.For the first time, Detry also played ​every major in the ‌same calendar year in 2025, missing the cut at the Masters and ⁠PGA Championship before ‍earning a share of 23rd at the U.S. Open and finishing joint 45th at the British Open. Johnson, who did not meet the criteria for PGA Tour reinstatement under a new and limited program announced this ​week by the U.S.-based circuit, has been with LIV Golf since its launch in June 2022.He was LIV's first season-long individual champion in 2022 and his 4Aces also won that year's team championship. The 41-year-old American, whose peak years are behind him, missed the cut in the first three majors of 2025 before earning ⁠a share of 23rd at the British Open. 

In the wake of Brooks Koepka's early departure from LIV Golf, it's only natural that all eyes would turn to see if LIV's most popular star, Bryson DeChambeau, would similarly jump ship with ‌one year left on his contract or sign an extension early.If ‌you're waiting for a ‍clear answer, you'll have to keep waiting."It's confidential. I'm not going to share too ⁠much, but the conversations are in ⁠process," DeChambeau told social media outlet Flushing It Golf in a long- ranging ‍interview.DeChambeau left the door open on his future at LIV Golf, while the American also offered praise and positivity for his experience with the Saudi-backed league."We have to get to a place where both parties have a good understanding of one another," DeChambeau said of his readiness to sign an extension on a contract that expires after the ‌2026 season. "It is getting to a place that makes sense for both sides. And, I think that can happen, but you never know. Life throws curve balls."Koepka's deceptive ‍pitch came in the form ⁠of an announcement ‌by LIV Golf on Dec. 23 that the two sides had "amicably and mutually agreed" to part ways. With a reported year remaining on his LIV contract, Koepka said he wanted to prioritize spending more time with family."That was quite a shock to a lot of people," DeChambeau said. "There was always rumblings, but ultimately, it was a shock when I saw it today. ... People make decisions for whatever their needs and wants are, and ultimately, you have to respect it and move on, and it feels like it was a mutual understanding ​and that's great."DeChambeau did ‌express excitement for his successful Crushers GC team and his passion for the potential growth of team ⁠golf.DeChambeau -- who is among the ‍LIV team captains that own 25% of their franchises -- said his Crushers team has cleared $20 million in revenue.After expressing optimism at June's U.S. Open about renegotiating his LIV Golf deal before the end of the year, DeChambeau hesitated to say whether an extension could be done before LIV Golf's first ​event of the new season in February at Riyadh."I don't know about before Riyadh, there's a lot of things to go through," he said. "You know, it's a scenario that is very unique. With Brooks leaving, it definitely throws in some unique things. I've said it all along, I want to do this, I want to grow team golf across the globe. But it has to be right. And there's a lot of things that ⁠have to be done in order for it to be right, you know?"... It's going to be interesting to see what happens."
