The implementation of a smart irrigation system by Public Works Authority (Ashghal), in partnership with Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality, has been widely welcomed by members of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) and environmental experts as a major step towards strengthening water security, reducing irrigation water consumption, and advancing environmental sustainability. The pilot project, introduced at Al Tawasul Park and Al Khor Municipality Park, uses treated wastewater, smart control systems and soil moisture sensors to optimise irrigation. According to Ashghal, the system has reduced irrigation water consumption by 25%, improved irrigation efficiency, lowered operating costs, and supported the sustainable management of natural resources. Experts described the initiative as a successful national model showing how smart technology and circular economy principles can simultaneously advance environmental protection and economic development. They said it aligns with the Third National Development Strategy (2024-2030), particularly its goals of enhancing water security, improving resource efficiency, accelerating digital transformation, promoting the circular economy, strengthening public infrastructure management, and supporting Qatar’s long-term carbon neutrality ambitions. Dr Mohamed Saif al-Kuwari, sustainability consultant, international researcher and expert in sustainability applications, said the project represents “a qualitative step in Qatar’s journey towards sustainable management of natural resources and a practical embodiment of the transition towards smart technologies in managing public facilities and services.” “It presents an integrated model for employing innovation and technology to address one of the most important environmental challenges facing arid countries, namely rationalising water consumption and enhancing water security,” he said. Al-Kuwari explained that the system combines treated wastewater with smart controllers and soil moisture sensors to supply plants with only the amount of water they require. He added that the initiative also supports several UN Sustainable Development Goals, including sustainable water management, resilient infrastructure, sustainable cities, responsible consumption, and climate action. Mohamed bin Ali al-Athba, chairman of the CMC, described the adoption of smart irrigation technologies as “an important step towards rationalising water consumption, reducing waste, and enhancing water resource management efficiency in line with Qatar’s environmental sustainability goals.” He said the system adjusts irrigation according to plant requirements and weather conditions, reducing unnecessary water use while maintaining high-quality green spaces. Al-Athba also called for wider use of treated wastewater in parks and landscaped areas and the expansion of smart irrigation technologies across green projects nationwide to maximise water efficiency. CMC vice-chairman Mubarak Fareesh al-Salem described the project as “a qualitative leap in Qatar’s sustainable development journey” that reflects the country’s commitment to adopting advanced technologies to conserve natural resources and improve municipal services. Al-Salem added that the system would also reduce operating costs by limiting reliance on water tankers, ease traffic through fewer tanker movements, enhance the urban landscape, and enable precise electronic control of irrigation schedules based on plant requirements and climatic conditions. Dr Mohsen al-Ansi al-Yafei, a professor of environmental sciences at Qatar University (QU), said smart irrigation could save nearly 50% of water currently wasted, based on his practical experience. He noted that studies conducted by QU in collaboration with Ashghal on treated wastewater have produced encouraging results and advocated expanding the system across public parks. Reserving potable water for human consumption while using treated wastewater for irrigation, he said, would deliver significant environmental and resource management benefits. Environmental researcher Ali al-Hanzab welcomed the pilot project, saying it would help conserve groundwater, increase the use of treated wastewater, and reduce water wastage. However, he stressed the need to closely monitor trees and plants during implementation to ensure they adapt successfully to the new irrigation method. “Even if the saving is less than 25%, achieving just 5% would still be valuable because water is an essential environmental resource,” he said, urging authorities to expand the programme if the pilot proves successful.CMC member Saeed al-Marri described smart irrigation as “a practical demonstration that sustainability is an operational approach.” He said wider deployment would strengthen water security, reduce operating costs, and support the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030. Environmental researcher Hamad al-Khelaifi also welcomed the initiative, saying Qatar’s expanding green spaces require more efficient water management. He called for broader adoption of smart irrigation in public parks and, eventually, on agricultural farms, stressing that maximising the use of treated wastewater while minimising waste would play a key role in achieving the country’s long-term environmental sustainability goals. 

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has introduced an intelligent irrigation system at two major parks in Al Khor, marking another step in Qatar's drive towards smarter water management. Ashghal, in its post on X, said the project has reduced irrigation water consumption by 25% compared with conventional methods by optimising the use of treated wastewater through soil moisture sensors and smart control technologies.Implemented in collaboration with Al Khor and Al Dhakhira Municipality, the project covers Al Tawasul Traditional Park and Al Khor Municipality Park. The automated system supplies water only when needed, improving irrigation efficiency, lowering operational costs, and supporting the country's digital transformation and sustainability goals, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.**media[473987]**Ashghal said the initiative also promotes more sustainable water resource management by reducing losses and wastage, lowering demand for treated wastewater used for irrigation, decreasing the carbon footprint associated with park maintenance, and cutting the operating hours of pumping equipment to improve energy efficiency. The authority added that the project enhances operational performance by reducing maintenance time and costs, extending the lifespan of irrigation assets, and improving the quality of services provided to park visitors.The smart irrigation system has been introduced at two of Al Khor's best-known public parks, each serving a distinct recreational and environmental role. Al Tawasul Traditional Park, inaugurated in 2015 under the Ras Laffan Industrial City Community Outreach Programme, covers about 25,800sqm and combines recreation with Qatari heritage and environmental education. The family-oriented park features children's play areas, sports facilities, walking and jogging tracks, landscaped green spaces, and traditional architectural elements inspired by Qatar's cultural identity. It also includes a small environmental section housing birds and animals and has hosted the Ministry of Culture's “Al Baraha” heritage events.**media[473989]**Al Khor Municipality Park, also known as Al Khor Family Park, is one of Qatar's oldest and largest public parks. Opened in 1983 and extensively redeveloped before reopening in 2020, the 240,000sqm park attracts around half a million visitors annually. Its attractions include expansive green areas, an artificial lake, a zoo, a museum, a miniature train, an amphitheatre, children's playgrounds, and picnic facilities, making it one of the country's leading family destinations. 

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has achieved significant sustainability milestones across its building projects since 2022 by implementing an integrated system to manage, reuse, and recycle millions of tonnes of construction and demolition waste.These efforts have enhanced resource efficiency, reduced waste generation, and promoted circular economy principles, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy.As part of these efforts, Ashghal has reused or transferred approximately 2.5mn cubic metres of excavation materials to the recycling yards of Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC), in addition to recycling more than 300,000 tonnes of construction and demolition waste.**media[473010]**The authority has also reused around 80,000 tonnes of timber waste within project sites, while sending 7,000 tonnes of plastic waste, 3,000 tonnes of paper waste, and 1,000 tonnes of scrap metal to approved recycling facilities.In addition, nearly 8,000 tonnes of food waste have been recovered by converting them into organic compost or processing them at dedicated treatment facilities. 

Providing a huge boost for Qatar’s efforts at sustainable environment and setting a new benchmark in sustainable practices, a built-up area of over 3.1bn square feet has been awarded Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) recognition in Qatar, a top official revealed to Gulf Times.“The adoption of the Global Sustainability Assessment System inside Qatar has been phenomenal, driven heavily by public sector leadership such as the Public Works Authority of Qatar (Ashghal) and Qatar Museums,” Dr Yousef Alhorr, founding chairman, Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (Gord), headquartered at Qatar Science and Technology Park, disclosed.“Cumulatively, nearly 2,700 projects in Qatar have achieved GSAS green building recognition, representing a massive aggregated built-up area of over 3.1bn square feet. This includes foundational infrastructure such as the FIFA World Cup 2022 stadiums, ISF City, and Qatar Rail network,” he said in an exclusive interview.GSAS is the first green building and infrastructure rating system in the Middle East and North Africa. Developed by Gord, it measures environmental impacts to promote sustainable design, construction, and operations.Dr Alhorr said that in 2025 alone, nearly 200 projects achieved GSAS recognition in Qatar. “Of these, more than 150 were acknowledged for incorporating sustainable design and construction practices while the remaining projects were recognised for sustainable site development and environmentally responsible operations after occupancy,” underlined, Dr Alhorr.According to the official, the diversity of these buildings is very striking and important. He said: “When we look at the specific projects driving this momentum, the diversity is truly remarkable representing a broad mix of sectors, including healthcare facilities, educational buildings, parks and public spaces, residential communities, and commercial and mixed-use developments. Government-related entities played a decisive role with organisations such as Ashghal accounting for the largest share of certified green projects.”Dr Alhorr noted that Qatar Foundation demonstrated an extensive portfolio undergoing environmental verification, including the largest number of projects achieving GSAS Operations Platinum certification while in the healthcare sector, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) advanced GSAS adoption across its facilities, reinforcing operational sustainability standards.“At the same time, private and semi-government developments also made notable progress, with Lusail City mixed-use development and Gewan Island residential buildings at The Pearl-Qatar setting benchmarks in sustainable luxury design. Commercial and institutional landmarks such as Vodafone’s headquarters in Msheireb and The View Hospital further highlighted cross-sector engagement, alongside large-scale recognitions for the QIN Master Plan and Qatar Free Zones, particularly Umm Al Houl and Marsa Districts, collectively representing the wide-ranging integration of GSAS across Qatar’s built environment ecosystem,” he highlighted.GSAS evaluates projects using eight main criteria. They are: Urban Connectivity; Site Selection; Energy Consumption; Water Use; Material Selection; Indoor Environment; Cultural & Economic Values and Management & Operations. Projects achieve certification by scoring points across all categories. Developers and contractors use the GSASgate Platform to track project progress, manage assessments, and secure final accreditation.Dr Alhorr said that Gord applies a truly 360-degree approach to sustainability. He stated: “Gord treats innovation as a continuous lifecycle that begins with ideation and extends all the way to regional and international scaling. Through the Gord Institute, we actively research and incubate proprietary, low-carbon intellectual property tailored for the harsh climate realities of the Mena region and the Global South.”The official pointed out that GSAS is increasing being adapted in several other countries in the region. He remarked: “Looking beyond Qatar, we are witnessing an exciting new chapter for regional sustainability. With the GCC Standardisation Organisation officially adopting GSAS as a regional standard (GSO 3000:2025), we are expecting a significant spike in GSAS projects across the region. To support this momentum, our capacity-building activities have actively started to roll out, effectively driving the implementation phase forward.”“In terms of regional footprint, GSAS frameworks have already been successfully implemented in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, on an introductory and foundational level, our systems have expanded through targeted capacity building and strategic alliance levels into Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Algeria,” added, Dr Alhorr. 

The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ has announced the commencement of construction works for Package 1 of the Roads and Infrastructure Project in Izghawa and Al Thumaid, with a cost of approximately QR688mn, as part of its ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure and provide integrated services across the country. Engineer Abdullah al-Nuaimi, Head of the Northern Areas Section at the Roads Projects Department, highlighted the importance of the Izghawa and Al Thumaid Project, noting that it represents a significant investment in modern, sustainable infrastructure that supports the population and urban growth of both areas while enhancing the quality of services provided to residents. He explained that the project will develop the internal road network, improve road safety, and implement comprehensive infrastructure facilities designed to meet both current and future needs. Engineer Talal al-Mughaiseeb, Roads Engineering Specialist at the Roads Projects Department, stated that the project will provide integrated infrastructure services for 669 citizen plots and several service facilities in Izghawa and Al Thumaid. He added that the project is also designed to support future population growth and the commercial developments currently under construction. Engineer Talal al-Mughaiseeb explained that the project includes the construction of a modern internal road network aimed at improving traffic flow and enhancing connectivity with main roads and public facilities. It will also deliver advanced infrastructure services, including sewage networks, surface and rainwater drainage networks, and other utility networks. Package 1 of the Izghawa and Al Thumaid Roads and Infrastructure Project includes the construction and development of 27km of roads, in addition to 50km of pedestrian and cycling paths, complete with road safety features, traffic signs, and road markings. The project will also include the installation of 856 street lighting poles and the provision of 3,890 parking spaces. The works will also include the construction of 39km of rainwater drainage networks, 18km of treated sewage effluent (TSE) networks for irrigating landscaped areas, and 23km of sewage networks. Package 1 of the Izghawa and Al Thumaid Project is located on the Northwestern outskirts of Doha and covers a total area of approximately 2.71mn square metres. To minimise disruption and accelerate project delivery, the project has been divided into four geographical zones, with construction works being implemented sequentially in each zone. 

Qatar is building the next generation of its pilots, air-traffic controllers and aircraft engineers from the ground up. The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has launched the Qatar Aeronautical Academy Development Project in Ras Bu Abboud, a sweeping overhaul that will give the country a purpose-built training complex aligned with European aviation standards by the fourth quarter of 2027.The project is designed to turn out highly qualified Qatari talent capable of leading the sector's future, while cementing the country's standing as a regional hub for aviation, education and specialised training.At its core are three new flagship facilities: a Flight Operations and Pilot Training Building, an Air Traffic Control and Airport Operations Simulation Building, and an Aircraft Support Services Hangar at Doha International Airport. Together they are meant to deliver a single, integrated training environment built to the highest international benchmarks.Dana Sulaiman al-Hammadi said the academy had been designed around the latest global standards, with a particular focus on the pilot-qualification requirements of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The aim, she said, was an environment that meets the most demanding international criteria for training aircrew.The centrepiece ATC simulation building will span roughly 1,902 square metres across two storeys, kitted out with state-of-the-art simulation and training systems. A new 1,000-square-metre Student Activities Building will blend educational and recreational facilities under one roof, while some 2,200 square metres of student accommodation will be refurbished to raise both capacity and living standards.At Doha International Airport, the new Aircraft Support Services Hangar will combine a 2,047-square-metre hangar with 647 square metres of office space. Built on a steel frame over a reinforced-concrete foundation and rising at least eight metres, it will house aircraft storage bays, avionics and maintenance workshops, operations rooms, technical-records facilities, specialised stores, and dedicated training and meeting rooms, supported by advanced ventilation systems geared to aircraft maintenance.The wider campus will be reshaped under a comprehensive master plan aimed at optimal use of space and seamless movement between buildings. Infrastructure and building systems will be upgraded to meet the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS), with sharper energy and water efficiency, better indoor environmental quality, environmentally friendly materials and smart solutions designed to cut the academy's footprint and improve long-term operational efficiency.Ashghal said the project reflected its commitment to delivering strategic infrastructure to the highest standards of quality, safety and sustainability, and on schedule, in support of the country's development goals. 

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the completion of all works under the seventh phase of its Western Areas Road Improvement Project, marking another step in the country's efforts to enhance transport infrastructure and connectivity.  According to the authority, the works included the development of permanent roads, construction of temporary roads, installation of traffic safety features, provision of parking facilities, and the implementation of infrastructure and landscaping improvements.  Hassan al-Naama, project engineer in the Western Areas Section of Ashghal's Roads Projects Department, said the project covered the areas of Al Sailiya, Al Gharrafa, Al Karaana, Al Nasraniya and Meseimeer.  He said that a total of 39km of roads had been upgraded, alongside the installation of around 285 street lighting poles.  The project included new pedestrian pathways, road signage and markings, as well as the construction of 587 parking spaces.  Al-Naama added that extensive infrastructure works were carried out, including the installation of surface and groundwater drainage systems, stormwater networks and sewage infrastructure, in addition to land grading and site preparation works in several locations.  In Al Sailiya, major improvements were made to Al Sailiya Road and its associated main roads, including new street lighting, traffic signals, sewage lines, stormwater drainage systems, pedestrian walkways and parking facilities.  In Al Gharrafa, Al Karaana and Al Nasraniya, the project focused on road construction and upgrades, enhancing traffic safety measures and delivering sewage and household connection networks.  Additional stormwater drainage works were also undertaken, particularly in Al Gharrafa.  A key element of the project was the construction of a new road stretching more than 15km to improve access to Al Kharaij Beach. Road network enhancements and landscaping works were also completed in Meseimeer to support a number of government institutions and public service facilities in the area.

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced a series of temporary traffic closures on several roads, bridges, and tunnels, in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.The closures will allow for maintenance works and infrastructure improvements, with alternative routes provided to keep traffic flowing smoothly.The tunnel leading to Dukhan Road will be closed for eight hours to traffic coming from New Al Rayyan Street via Bani Hajer Interchange on Friday, May 29, from 2am to 10am. Motorists travelling from New Al Rayyan Street towards Dukhan are advised to use Gharafat Al Rayyan Interchange as an alternative.The U-turn on Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor at Umm Lekhba Interchange will be closed nightly for southbound traffic coming from Hamad International Airport, from Tuesday, June 2, until Friday, June 12, daily from 12.30am to 5am. Road users should take nearby alternative routes.The bridge connecting New Al Hateem Street and Al Gaabiyah Street in Al Gharrafa will be closed nightly for northbound traffic, from Monday, June 1, until Saturday, June 20, daily from 12.30am to 5am. During the closure, motorists coming from Al Gaabiyah Street should turn right onto Al Gharrafa Street, make a U-turn at Al Duhail Intersection, continue straight along Al Gharrafa Street, then turn right onto New Al Hateem Street to reach their destinations.A full traffic closure will also be in place at Bani Hajer Interchange for traffic coming from Khalifa Boulevard towards Al Shahama Street. The closures will take place at varying times during the night and morning hours from Sunday, May 31, until Tuesday, June 9. Motorists travelling from Doha via Khalifa Street towards Bani Hajer should use the bridge leading to New Al Rayyan Street, make a U-turn at Al Shafi Interchange, then use Bani Hajer Tunnel to reach their destinations.Ashghal urged all road users to observe speed limits and traffic signs to ensure road safety. 

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) continues to implement Package 1 of the Remaining Roads and Infrastructure Works in Al Shamal, as part of its efforts to develop the road network and improve infrastructure services across the country.In a press statement, Engineer Ali Mostafawi, a project engineer in the Drainage Networks Projects Department at Ashghal, explained that the project aims to meet the needs of the growing population in Al Shamal by providing services to around 3,807 residential plots. He added that the area will witness improved traffic flow, enhanced connectivity to public facilities, and improved road safety for residents and visitors.Regarding the scope of works, Mostafawi said they include constructing and developing 87km of roads, with the aim of facilitating the movement of residents and linking the internal streets of the area with the main roads adjacent to it, such as Abu Dhalouf Street and Al Areesh Street, as well as Al Shamal and Al Ghariyah Roads.This is in addition to improving several vital streets leading to public and commercial facilities, most notably Al Ruwais Health Centre, Al Shamal Secondary School for Boys, and the commercial buildings adjacent to Abu Dhalouf Street.The project will activate 2,812 streetlights to enhance road safety throughout the area, along with 66km of sewage network upgrades to meet current and future needs. Maintenance work will also be carried out on the sewage pumping station to improve its efficiency and ensure continuous operation.Regarding the current works on site, excavation work is underway to lay lighting pole cables and activate the electricity substations that feed the main distribution panel. Ground levelling is also being carried out in preparation for asphalt paving to construct a new road connecting the area's internal streets to Abu Dhalouf Street. 

The Public Works Authority “Ashghal” honoured 161 employees who completed accredited training programmes in project management, graduate development and administrative support at a special ceremony yesterday (May 10) as part of its continued investment in human capital development. The event, held at Rosewood Doha Hotel, was attended by HE Eng Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al-Meer, president of Ashghal, along with several senior officials. The ceremony marked the graduation of engineers and employees who successfully completed specialised programmes supervised by the authority’s Human Resources Department, reflecting Ashghal’s ongoing efforts to strengthen national competencies and enhance professional readiness. According to Ashghal, the programmes included the Project Management Development Programme, which is designed to qualify newly graduated Qatari engineers and develop their professional capabilities; the Graduate Development Programme, aimed at equipping newly graduated non-engineers with the skills required to perform their professional roles efficiently; and the Administrative Development Programme, which focuses on developing employees holding secondary school and diploma qualifications in administrative support fields. At the ceremony, Ashghal highlighted its commitment to providing an integrated system of training programmes that support sustainable professional development. The programmes, which range from 12 to 36 months, are designed to keep pace with workplace requirements while enhancing employees’ technical, administrative and behavioural skills. Rashid Saeed al-Hajri, Human Resources manager at Ashghal, stressed that the authority’s commitment to creating a continuous and sustainable learning environment that supports lifelong professional developmentthrough specialised training programmes and projects tailoured to employees’ needs. He said the programmes contribute to building clear career paths, supporting the development of human capital, and aligning workforce capabilities with operational requirements, while also advancing the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. Ghanem Abdulla al-Kaabi, head of the Training and Organisational Development Section at Ashghal, said the authority’s programmes were developed using modern methodologies that account for evolving workplace requirements and focus on strengthening applied skills and practical experience among employees. He added that Ashghal continuously updates the content of its training programmes in line with best practices to maximise employee benefit and improve efficiency across various specialisations.During the ceremony, Eng al-Meer also honoured partner entities and internal trainers for their contributions to developing and supporting the programmes, and recognised employees who received the Employee of the Year Award for 2025. 

Project Qatar 2026, the country's flagship construction exhibition, returns to the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC) from June 9 to 11, drawing strategic backing from Ashghal, Qatar Chamber and Qatar Development Bank as organisers position the event as proof of the country's ability to sustain business momentum and international partnerships despite mounting regional pressures.Now in its 22nd edition and themed Manufacture, Build, Innovate, the three-day exhibition will bring public and private sector stakeholders together to showcase the latest construction technologies, machinery and smart systems, with a dedicated B2B matchmaking platform, an Excellence in Industry and Innovation Awards programme, and a Startup Stage for SMEs and entrepreneurs.Hayat Bayan, Commercial and Operations director at organiser IFP Qatar, told a news conference Sunday that the exhibition "delivers a positive message to local, regional, and international markets, reaffirming Qatar's ability to turn challenges into opportunities while maintaining business momentum and strategic partnerships despite the geopolitical developments across the region."Bayan said the theme reflects a focus on supporting the industrial sector, advancing construction, and encouraging the adoption of innovative technologies. The exhibition, she added, "serves as a professional platform bringing together public and private sector stakeholders under one roof, while creating direct channels of communication between companies, suppliers, contractors, and investors to support the creation of new business opportunities and partnerships through the showcasing of the latest products, machinery, construction solutions, smart systems, and advanced technologies."Hussain Youssef al-Abdulghani, director of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Department at Qatar Chamber, described Project Qatar 2026 as one of the region's leading specialised platforms in the construction sector."Project Qatar is playing a vital role in strengthening business partnerships, fostering collaboration between local and international companies, and providing a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and showcasing the latest technologies and innovations," he said.He added: "Qatar Chamber is participating in the event as the Business Community Partner, in line with its continued support for impactful initiatives that reinforce Qatar's position as a regional hub for business and specialised exhibitions, while contributing to sustainable economic development."The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is participating as a Strategic Partner. Abdulla Saad al-Saad, manager of the Public Relations and Communications Department at Ashghal, said the authority's involvement reflects its role in supporting Qatar's urban development and advancing infrastructure across the country.He said Ashghal's pavilion will showcase flagship projects alongside the latest technologies and innovative solutions used in project delivery, with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and delivery efficiency. Al-Saad noted that the participation also provides an opportunity to strengthen collaboration with contractors, suppliers, and consultants, and to facilitate the exchange of expertise in support of Qatar National Vision 2030.Qatar Development Bank (QDB) senior director of Marketing and Communications Ahmed Hassan al-Mahasna said the bank's participation embodies its national role in supporting the private sector, empowering Qatar-based companies, and connecting them with commercial and contractual opportunities.He emphasised that this strengthens the role of Qatari companies in the construction sector's supply chains, noting that the QDB pavilion will host 18 Qatari companies this year to showcase their products and services that meet the needs of construction and infrastructure development projects in the country.As part of QDB's efforts to localise business, al-Mahasna explained that the bank facilitated more than 440 contractual opportunities last year between private sector companies and various national entities, with a total value exceeding QR2bn.Bayan noted that the exhibition will feature a dedicated B2B matchmaking platform to facilitate targeted meetings between buyers, suppliers, contractors, government entities, and international investors. The event will also host the Excellence in Industry and Innovation Awards, recognising achievements and sustainability leadership across the construction sector, as well as a Startup Stage for entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to present their solutions to investors and major companies. 

 The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the completion of 47 pedestrian bridges and tunnels across Qatar to enhance road safety and ease pedestrian movement. In a post on X, Ashghal said the projects were carried out in co-ordination with the Ministry of Transport and span key corridors and densely populated areas.
