Al Rayyan and Al Wajba booked their places in the final of the third edition of the Al Thumama Ramadan Football Tournament at the Al Furjan Stadium in Al Thumama. In the semi-finals, Al Rayyan defeated Al Shaab 4-0 while Al Wajba secured a 3-0 win over Al Raya Medical. Al Shaab and Al Raya Medical will now meet in the third-place play-off. Al Rayyan’s run to the final gathered momentum late in the group stage. They had been sitting fourth before a crucial 3-0 win over Al Zaeem pushed them into the semi-finals, where they carried that form forward with a dominant display. The tournament, held for players aged 10 to 14, featured 13 teams split into two groups. Group A included Doha, Turki Bin Abdullah, Al Wajba, Al Zaeem, Al Rayyan and Al Thumama. Group B featured Al Dafna, Al Shaab, Al Waab, Al Raya Medical, Palestine, Al Shaqab and Al Shahaniya. Winners will receive QR7,000 along with the trophy and medals, while the runners-up will earn QR5,000. The third-place team will take home QR3,000. Individual awards will also be presented. The best player, top scorer and best goalkeeper will each receive QR500, while the best team award carries a prize of QR3,000. 

The third edition of the Al Thumama Ramadan Football Tournament showcased exceptional organisation and spirited competition, attracting wide community attention in the Al-Thumama area. Chairman of the Central Municipal Council, Mohammed bin Ali Al-Athba, praised the event, saying, “One of the tournament’s main objectives was to discover and develop young football talents by providing them with an opportunity to showcase their skills to the public and those interested in sports. This contributes to supporting the development of Qatari football and supplying clubs with promising talents for the future.” He highlighted the tournament’s growth in team participation, audience turnout, and match quality, noting the discipline and sportsmanship that strengthened bonds among the youth. He also commended Hassan bin Ali al-Ishaq, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, for his leadership and meticulous management, which ensured a safe and successful event. The Al-Thumama Championship, being held at Al Furjan Stadium in cooperation with the Qatar Sports for All Federation, is featuring 13 teams in the 10–14 age group. Meanwhile, Yousef Abdulnoor, Director of the tournament, confirmed its resounding success. “The upcoming matches in both groups will witness fierce competition for first and second place, as all four teams in each group have a chance to qualify for the semi-finals. Therefore, the coming days will be filled with exciting matches that will be enjoyed by the fans and followers of the Al Thumama Ramadan Tournament,” he said. He added: “The Al Thumama Ramadan Tournament has gained significant and positive recognition among a large segment of the community. Despite its limited resources and modest support, it has firmly established itself among Ramadan tournaments.” 

The Organising Committee of the Al Thumama Ramadan Football Tournament has officially announced the details of the third edition of the championship, reaffirming its position as a flagship community football event for young players in Qatar.The announcement was made during a press conference held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, where officials outlined the tournament’s objectives, format, and growing popularity.In cooperation with the Qatar Sports for All Federation, the tournament will take place at Al Furjan Stadium in the Al Thumama area, coinciding with the start of the holy month of Ramadan. The championship is dedicated exclusively to age groups from 10 to 14 years old, covering players born between 2012 and 2016, making it the only tournament of its kind in Qatar for this specific age category. Registration for participating teams has officially opened and will continue until February 10 through the Qatar Sports for All Federation application.The tournament offers a competitive and rewarding platform, with the first-place team set to receive a cash prize of QR7000, along with the championship trophy and gold medals. The second-place team will earn QR5000 and silver medals, while the third-place team will receive QR3000 and bronze medals. Individual excellence will also be recognized, with the best player awarded QR500, and the top scorer and best goalkeeper each receiving the same amount. In addition, the best ideal team will be awarded a financial prize of QR2000.Head of the Organising Committee, Member of the Municipal Council Hassan Al Ishaq, emphasised the tournament’s unique status and increasing demand. He noted that despite players’ academic commitments, there is a strong and growing eagerness among teams to participate. Al Ishaq revealed that requests to take part in this year’s edition have increased, including a proposal to stage the tournament more than once annually, which is currently under consideration. He also confirmed that a team from one of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries has expressed interest in participating, with the request presently under review. Building on the tournament’s inclusive spirit, he added that a team from Gaza, which participated in the previous edition, is expected to return for the second consecutive year.Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation Abdullah al-Dosari highlighted that the Al Thumama Ramadan Football Tournament represents a distinguished launch for the 2026 neighbourhood championships. He stressed that the event reflects a sustained commitment to organizing community sports initiatives that serve various segments of society, particularly youth aged between 10 and 14. Al-Dosari described the tournament as a successful model for investing in neighbourhood sports facilities to promote an active lifestyle, encourage fair competition, strengthen social interaction, and discover emerging talents, especially during the spiritually significant month of Ramadan.
