The General Assembly of Al Rayyan Club today elected HE Sheikh Al-Qaqa'a bin Hamad Al-Thani as club president until 2030, with Ali Salem Afifa elected vice president.The election took place during the ordinary General Assembly meeting, which was held with the required quorum and attended by representatives of the Ministry of Sports and Youth and active club members.The General Assembly discussed the Board of Directors' report on sporting activities for the 2025-2026 season. Members praised the club's success in football, including winning the Gulf Champions League title for the first time in its history, as well as its achievements in other sports. The General Assembly also approved the minutes of the previous meeting and endorsed the sporting activities plan for the upcoming season.Al Rayyan finished last season in third place in the Qatar Stars League (Doha Bank Stars League), qualifying for the AFC Champions League Two.The club will begin its new season against Lusail Club on Thursday in the opening round of the league. Al Rayyan will also compete in Group C of the AFC Champions League Two alongside Saudi Arabia's Al Taawoun, Jordan's Al Faisaly, and Oman's Al Nahda.

The value of real estate transactions registered with Qatar's Ministry of Justice reached QR1.692bn in June, with 541 property deals recorded during the month.According to the ministry's monthly real estate market bulletin, the municipalities of Doha, Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah recorded the highest transaction values, followed by Al Daayen, Umm Salal, Al Khor and Al Thakhira, Al Shamal and Al Sheehaniya.The market index showed that transaction values totaled QR649.1mn in Doha, QR418.4mn in Al Rayyan and QR236.2mn in Al Wakrah. Al Daayen recorded QR159.6mn, Umm Salal QR121.5mn, Al Khor and Al Thakhira QR79.9mn, Al Shamal QR24.7mn and Al Sheehaniya QR2.65mn.In terms of land area traded, Al Rayyan accounted for 34% of the total, followed by Doha with 21% and Al Wakrah with 20%. Umm Salal and Al Daayen each represented 8%, Al Khor and Al Thakhira 6%, and Al Shamal 3%.Al Rayyan and Doha each accounted for 25% of all properties sold during the month, while Al Wakrah represented 23%. Al Daayen accounted for 9% of transactions, Umm Salal and Al Khor and Al Thakhira 7% each, and Al Shamal 4%.Average prices per square foot ranged from QR499 to QR925 in Doha, QR367 to QR442 in Al Rayyan, QR242 to QR424 in Al Wakrah, QR348 to QR453 in Umm Salal, QR351 to QR550 in Al Daayen, QR260 to QR322 in Al Khor and Al Thakhira, QR161 to QR256 in Al Shamal and QR262 in Al Sheehaniya.The ministry said five of the 10 highest-value property sales in June were in Doha, three were in Al Rayyan, and one each was in Al Daayen and Umm Salal.Mortgage activity totaled 109 transactions worth QR3.078bn during the month. Doha recorded the largest number of mortgage transactions with 42, or 38.5% of the total, followed by Al Rayyan with 25, Al Daayen with 20, Al Wakrah with nine, Umm Salal with eight, Al Khor and Al Thakhira with four, and Al Sheehaniya with one.Doha also recorded the highest mortgage value at QR2.582bn, while Al Sheehaniya had the lowest at QR2.86mn. Eight of the 10 largest mortgaged properties were located in Doha, with one each in Al Wakrah and Umm Salal. Together, the 10 largest mortgage transactions accounted for 81% of the total value of mortgages registered during June.In the residential units segment, 150 transactions worth QR232.7mn were recorded in June, representing an increase in trading volume compared with May.The Ministry of Justice said the figures reflected continued growth in Qatar's real estate sector, supported by active investment and commercial activity, as well as recent legislation covering real estate brokerage, registration, documentation, ownership and usufruct rights, alongside measures aimed at attracting domestic and foreign investment. 

The Ministry of Municipality’s General Cleanliness Department has continued to advance Qatar’s transition towards a more sustainable waste management system by expanding the National Waste Separation at Source Programme across Al Rayyan Municipality.  Accordingly, the ministry distributed 1,117 blue bins designated for recyclable waste and an equal number of grey bins for organic waste in several residential areas of Al Rayyan Municipality during June. Distribution is continuing throughout July to ensure comprehensive coverage of all targeted neighbourhoods. With the latest deployment, the cumulative number of blue recycling bins distributed in Al Rayyan has reached 16,127, making it one of the country’s largest municipal waste-separation initiatives.  The initiative forms a key component of Qatar’s broader environmental strategy to reduce landfill dependency, increase recycling rates and promote the efficient use of resources.  By encouraging residents to separate waste at the household level, the programme improves the quality of the recyclable materials collected while reducing contamination, which often limits the effectiveness of recycling processes.  Under the scheme, blue bins are designated for recyclable materials, including paper, cardboard, plastic packaging and metal containers, while grey bins are intended for biodegradable and organic household waste. Separating waste before collection allows municipal authorities to recover more valuable materials for recycling and to facilitate the appropriate treatment of organic waste.  The programme has expanded steadily throughout 2026. Earlier phases saw the distribution of 885 blue recycling bins in May, bringing the cumulative total to 15,027 before the June rollout increased the figure to 16,127. The phased approach enables the Ministry to gradually extend the programme across residential areas.  The initiative also aligns with the Ministry of Municipality’s 2024–2030 National Integrated Solid Waste Programme, which includes expanding waste segregation at source, strengthening recycling infrastructure, developing engineered landfill facilities, rehabilitating older disposal sites and introducing smarter waste management systems across the country.  According to the Qatar Development Bank’s Recycling Sector Report, the strategy targets a 15% material recycling rate for municipal waste, reflecting the country’s commitment to advancing a circular economy.  Alongside bin distribution, the Ministry continues to implement public awareness and educational campaigns encouraging residents to actively participate in the programme.  Since the launch of the National Waste Separation at Source Programme in 2019, more than 30,000 recycling and organic waste bins of various sizes have been distributed across different municipalities, supporting household-level segregation systems. However, annual municipal solid waste generation has been estimated at around 1.8–2.0mn tonnes, with recycling rates remaining limited but steadily improving through source-separation and recovery programmes.

Al Rayyan produced a dominant second-half performance to defeat Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab 3-0 and lift the Gulf Club Champions League trophy at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium. The final remained finely balanced for an hour before the match turned decisively in Al Rayyan’s favour after Al Shabab were reduced to ten men when Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco was sent off for a second booking in the 59th minute. David Garcia broke the deadlock two minutes later, while Aleksandar Mitrovic and Roger Guedes added further goals late on to seal an emphatic victory for The Lions and cap a memorable night in front of their supporters. Both teams created promising openings in a competitive first half marked by physical challenges, with Al Shabab coming closest to scoring just before the break when Hammam al-Hammami found himself one-on-one with Al Rayyan goalkeeper Mahmud Abunada, but failed to convert. Al Rayyan seized control shortly after the hour mark as Garcia rose high to meet a precise delivery from Thiago Silva on the right and powered home a well-placed header to give his side the lead. The advantage was doubled in the 79th minute when Mitrovic climbed above the defence to head in a quality corner from Rodrigo Moreno, leaving Al Shabab struggling to respond. Al Rayyan’s dominance was underlined just two minutes later as they struck again. Ahmed al-Minhali delivered a ball from the left inside the penalty area, and Mitrovic cleverly set it up for Guedes, who calmly finished to complete the scoring. The triumph marked Al Rayyan’s second trophy of the season following their QSL Cup success, and their second title since coach Vicente Moreno took charge last month. 

Al Rayyan will look to crown their impressive campaign with silverware when they take on Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab in the final of the Gulf Club Champions League Thursday at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium at 6:45pm. The Qatari side booked their place in the final with a convincing 2-0 victory over Kuwait’s Al Qadsia in the semi-final, while Al Shabab advanced after edging Iraq’s Zakho FC on penalties in the other last-four clash. Al Rayyan coach Vicente Moreno acknowledged the challenge awaiting his side but expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the decisive encounter. “The team’s preparations for the final were good, and the focus is currently on delivering the expected level in order to win and be crowned with the Gulf title,” Moreno said. “The final match will be different and requires the highest level of concentration. We must be cautious against a strong and distinguished team that includes high-level players.” Moreno added that playing at home could provide an added boost for his side. Al Rayyan enters the final with high morale, especially since the match is being held at the club’s stadium,” he said. Midfielder Julien De Sart echoed his coach’s optimism, stressing the team’s determination to deliver in front of their supporters. “The team is ready to face Al Shabab and deliver a performance that will help us win the championship title,” De Sart said. “The final match will be difficult for both teams as each side seeks victory. We invite Al Rayyan fans, as their support will motivate the players to perform at their best level.” On the other side, Al Shabab coach Noureddine Zekri expressed confidence in his team’s ability to rise to the occasion and end their long wait for silverware. “I am confident in the team’s ability to deliver a great performance in the final and win the Gulf title,” Zekri said. “Al Shabab has a great history and a historic opportunity to return to the podium after 12 years. Al Rayyan has shown outstanding levels in the tournament and will be playing at home in front of their fans.” Striker Abderrazak Hamdallah said he is fully prepared for the challenge and eager to help his team succeed. “I am fully ready for the final match and determined to win the title and return the team to the podium,” Hamdallah said. “We will enter the match with great enthusiasm and aim to please the fans by winning the title.”

Al Rayyan and Al Arabi booked their places in the Amir Cup Basketball semi-finals with convincing wins Sunday at Al Gharafa Arena. Al Rayyan produced an impressive offensive performance to defeat Al Gharafa 104-82 in a high-tempo clash that saw momentum shift across all four quarters. Malik Carey led the charge with a remarkable 44 points, while Devin Morris Ebanks responded with 41 for Al Gharafa in a game defined by standout individual efforts. Al Arabi maintained their strong form with a commanding 104-73 victory over Qatar SC to complete the semi-final lineup. Despite Joshua Nicholas leading all scorers with 31 points for Qatar SC, Abdulrahman Yahya paced Al Arabi with 20 points in a balanced team display. Al Ahli will meet Al Arabi and Al Sadd will face Al Rayyan. Both games are scheduled for May 4. 

Al Rayyan booked their place in the final of the Gulf Champions League for Clubs after defeating Kuwait’s Al Qadsia 2-0 at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in the semi-final Sunday. Goals from Roger Guedes in the 17th minute and Aleksandar Mitrovic in the 50th sealed a deserved victory as Al Rayyan produced a controlled and confident performance to advance to the title decider. Al Rayyan asserted their dominance early through high pressing and sustained attacking pressure, opening the scoring when Abdulaziz Hatem delivered a precise pass to Guedes, who drove into the penalty area before unleashing a powerful shot into the net. The home side continued to threaten and created several chances, but the first half ended with Al Rayyan holding a narrow one-goal advantage. After the break, Al Rayyan maintained their momentum and doubled their lead from a corner taken by Khalid Ali. The ball rebounded off the goalkeeper and Mitrovic reacted quickest to finish from close range in the 50th minute. Al Rayyan then managed the game effectively, preserving their lead for the remainder of the match to secure progression to the final. They will now face Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab, who advanced to the final after defeating Iraq’s Zakho SC 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regular and extra time in the other semi-final at Khalifa International Stadium.
