Opener Abhishek Sharma hit a record T20 century off 30 balls to set up a crushing 127-run win for India in the third match against Afghanistan and sweep the series 3-0 on Thursday. Left-handed Abhishek's ton was the fastest in a T20 international between full Test-playing nations as he guided India to 221-7 at New Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium.Afghanistan, who were the official hosts for the series, checked the opposition surge after Abhishek departed for 108 off 34 balls and India lost their way from 142-1 in 10 overs. But the Afghan batters once again disappointed and were bowled out for 94 in 14.1 overs.Afghanistan had posted 156-8 and 159-8 while batting first in the first two matches. Left-arm spinner Axar Patel struck twice in his first over to send back Rahmanullah Gurbaz, for 15, and Sediqullah Atal, for one, and Afghanistan could never recover from the losses.Seam bowler Nitish Kumar Reddy also took two wickets in one over to return figures of 3-25. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi wrapped up the Afghanistan innings with his third strike of the match. Abhishek stood out with his third T20 century as he surpassed Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza's ton off 33 balls against Gambia in 2024 and Finn Allen's effort from the same number of deliveries in New Zealand's T20 World Cup semi-final win over South Africa earlier this year in India."It's just watch the ball and play according to it," said Abhishek, who was named player of the match,. "It's very simple from day one. I just want to express myself. Just see the ball and hit the ball. You can't be sure you'll be doing well all the time but the culture we've developed in our team is to dominate and it's been going well so far."The only two faster T20I hundreds came in matches betwen the lower-tiered associate members of the ICC. Sahil Chauhan of Estonia holds the overall record of 27 balls after his century against Cyprus two years ago while Muhammad Fahad needed just 29 balls for his ton for Turkey against Bulgaria in 2025.'Pleasing to the eye'Abhishek tore into the Afghanistan bowling attack after India were invited to bat first. "It wasn't an easy wicket, but the way Abhishek played today was flawless, and it was just pleasing to the eye," said India captain Shreyas Iyer.The swashbuckling opener hit a six to reach 99. He completed the hundred with a single and sat in meditation pose to celebrate. He finally fell for 108 off 34 balls to leg-spinner Rashid Khan. The 26-year-old's knock was laced with nine fours and 11 sixes.His opening stand of 142 with Sanju Samson, who hit 50, put India on course for a big total but the Afghan bowlers hit back with regular wickets. Tilak Varma was run out for two by Rashid and Samson departed after his second successive half-century as he fell to pace bowler Azmatullah Omarzai.Omarzai struck another blow helped by a stunning catch by Rashid in the deep to send back Shivam Dube for 14. India raised their 100 in six overs but managed just 79 from the last 60 balls. India now head to Japan for the Asian Games starting September 19 at Nagoya-Aichi. Afghanistan will send a largely different team to the Asian Games under Darwish Rasooli. BRIEF SCORES:India 221 for 7 (Abhishek 108, Samson 50, Omarzai 2-27) beat Afghanistan 94 (Zadran 25, Reddy 3-25, Bishnoi 3-26) by 127 runs. 

Wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson struck 57 off 22 balls to lead India to a dominant seven-wicket win over Afghanistan in the second T20 international and clinch the series on Tuesday.India chased down a victory target of 160 with 5.1 overs to spare to take an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series at New Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium.Abhishek Sharma, who hit 39 off 19 balls, and fellow opener Samson put on 88 runs to put the team on course.Abhishek started briskly and Samson soon took over to hit the ball to all parts of the ground as he struck sixes and fours including in a 27-run sixth over by Mohammad Nabi.Leg-spinner Rashid Khan cut short Abhishek's knock a ball after being hit for a six by the swashbuckling left-hander, who hit 82 in India's opening win also by seven wickets.Samson reached his fifty in 20 balls to raise the noise of the home crowd but departed two balls later off Nabi. He hit seven fours and four sixes.Skipper Shreyas Iyer fell on 11 before Ishan Kishan, who made 38, and Tilak Varma (15) guided the team home in an unbeaten stand of 40. IYER WINS 11TH TOSS IN 12 MATCHESEarlier, Iyer won his 11th toss, the most by a captain in his first 12 T20 matches, surpassing 10 each by Qatar's Mirza Baig and Henry Tyler of Philippines.Bowlers backed the decision and kept Afghanistan down to 159-8 with seam bowler Nitish Kumar Reddy returning figures of 3-24.Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah started with a maiden over and fellow quick Arshdeep Singh reaped the benefit as he sent back Rahmanullah Gurabaz, caught behind for a duck.Skipper Ibrahim Zadran attempted to hit back with his brisk 37 as he struck six fours in a 51-run partnership with Sediqullah Atal, who made 12.Reddy broke the stand on his first ball as he got the batsman caught at deep mid-wicket.Reddy got one more after leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who came in place of injured Varun Chakravarthy, sent back Atal and Afghanistan slipped to 67-4 in 10.1 overs.Indian bowlers struck regular blows to rattle the opposition batting despite some lower-order resistence by Nabi (20) and Rashid, who made 28.Reddy dismissed Rashid for his third strike as Afghanistan, who made 156-8 in the opener, once again finished on a below-par total on the batting-friendly pitch.The third match is on Thursday at the same venue. BRIEF SCORESIndia 163 for 3 (Samson 57, Abhishek 39, Kishan 38*, Rashid 3-36) beat Afghanistan 159 for 8 (Zadran 37, Reddy 3-24) by seven wickets 

Opener Abhishek Sharma smashed 82 from just 32 balls as India hammered Afghanistan by seven wickets in the first T20 international in New Delhi on Sunday.Chasing 157 for victory, India rode on Abhishek's blitz, which included seven sixes and seven fours, to achieve the target in 13.4 overs and lead the three-match series 1-0.Abhishek got his first runs with a six off Fazalhaq Farooqi in the opening over and there was no looking back for the swashbuckling left-handed batter.He lost opening partner Sanju Samson for 10 but kept up the charge with a flurry of fours and sixes to raise his fifty off 22 balls.Abhishek and Ishan Kishan, who made 42, put on 121 runs as the pair tore into the opposition attack to raise the noise of over 25,000 fans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium."The shots Abhishek played were flawless, exemplary," said India captain Shreyas Iyer."Kishan has been in great form. He's very relaxed, calm and knows his game."Abhishek fell to off-spinner Mohammad Nabi as Rashid Khan took a good catch in the deep.Nabi soon sent back Kishan before Tilak Varma (3) and Iyer (8) saw the team home.India's left-arm quick Arshdeep Singh set up victory with figures of 3-19 in his four overs as he helped restrict Afghanistan to 156-8.Put in to bat, Afghanistan slipped to 43-5 before Azmatullah Omarzai hit an unbeaten 64. RETURNING PACER BUMRAH STARTED WITH 5 WIDESReturning pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah started with a wide down the leg side for five extras but struck on the second legal delivery to dismiss Rahmanullah Gurbaz, caught at first slip.Iyer praised Bumrah, calling the pace spearhead, who returned to the team after an injury in the second ODI against England in Cardiff on July 16, a "great asset".Skipper Ibrahim Zadran attempted to hit back with two fours but was soon run out for 11 after a mix up with Sediqullah Atal to give India the upper hand."I would say that run out was the turning point," said Zadran. "Ishan Kishan grabbed the ball and threw it to the bowler. They got the momentum."Wickets kept tumbling as spinners Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy took one each as Afghanistan lost half their side in seven overs.Omarzai, who survived a dropped catch on 39, and Nabi (33) then combined to rebuild the innings with a partnership of 83.Arshdeep broke the stand as he bowled Nabi off a slower yorker.Omarzai stuck around until the end as Afghanistan got 21 runs off the last over from Shivam Dube but it was not enough against the reigning T20 world champions.Afghanistan, who have long used India and the United Arab Emirates as home venues, are the official hosts for the series. BRIEF SCORESIndia 157 for 3 (Abhishek 82, Kishan 42, Nabi 2-28) beat Afghanistan 156 for 8 (Omarzai 64, Nabi 33, Arshdeep 3-19) by seven wickets 

India secured their place in the Asia Cup final Wednesday as Abhishek Sharma starred with 75 in a comfortable 41-run win over Bangladesh in Dubai.The holders posted 168-6 batting first after stumbling following a quick start, but their spinners helped stifle Bangladesh to 127 all out.The result means Sri Lanka are out of the tournament, with Thursday’s Super Four match between Pakistan and Bangladesh to decide who faces India in Sunday’s final.Abhishek has enjoyed a remarkable start to his T20 international career with 783 runs from 22 matches at a strike-rate of 197.72.The opener set up victory with another brilliant innings, striking six sixes and five fours in his 37-ball blitz, which ended with a run-out caused by a mix-up with captain Suryakumar Yadav.Both Abhishek and fellow opener Shubman Gill, who made 29, started cautiously before the two took on left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed, smashing 21 runs off the fourth over.Abhishek reached his fifty off just 25 balls after Gill fell to leg-spinner Rishad Hossain.Rishad quickly struck again with the wicket of the promoted Shivam Dube, before the dismissals of Abhishek and Suryakumar, for five off 11 balls, left India on 114-4. Hardik Pandya ensured India reached a competitive total with a 29-ball 38 with four fours and one six.Jasprit Bumrah struck first to send back opener Tanzid Hasan for one in the second over of Bangladesh’s chase, before Saif Hassan and Parvez Hossain Emon, who made 21, put on 42 runs to steady the innings.But Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Parvez and Bangladesh soon lost their way as the Indian spinners took charge. Saif, who survived four dropped catches, played a lone hand to raise Bangladesh hopes. Kuldeep struck twice with successive balls before Nasum played out the hat-trick ball.
