Qatar and Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that lays the framework for joint co-operation between the two brotherly countries in the various aspects of the energy industry.The agreement was signed by His Excellency the Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad Sherida al-Kaabi and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman al-Saud on the sidelines of the 17th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting and the 25th WPC Energy Congress, currently being held in the Saudi capital, which form part of the Riyadh Energy Week.The MoU covers co-operation in sectors such as oil and gas and their derivatives, refining, petrochemicals, electricity, clean hydrogen and its derivatives, renewable energy, and energy efficiency and storage.In the fields of emission reduction and sustainability, the agreement addressed co-operation in climate change mitigation technologies, such as carbon capture, transport, reuse, and storage solutions.It also covered enhancing joint international co-operation and co-ordination on matters related to energy, sustainability, and climate change in relevant international initiatives and frameworks.The MoU will enter into force upon the conclusion of legal procedures in both Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
