Commercial Bank recently celebrated the completion of its 12th Young Bankers Programme. The event brought together participants aged 14-17, their parents, and members of the bank's senior management to recognise the achievements of the young participants and mark the conclusion of another impactful edition of the programme.First introduced in 2014, the Young Bankers Programme forms part of the bank's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy to build financial awareness among Qatar's youth.Supporting the Human Development Pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030, the programme equips young people with practical knowledge and skills that help them better understand the banking and financial services sector from an early age.Since its inception, the programme has attracted more than 2,000 applicants, reflecting the growing interest among young people in gaining real-world exposure to the banking industry and developing a stronger understanding of financial management.Held annually during the summer, the programme begins with a comprehensive two-day orientation designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of banking and financial management.Participants then undertake hands-on training across selected Commercial Bank branches and lounges, where they gain practical insights into the bank's products, services, customer experience standards, and day-to-day operations. The programme also provides exposure to retail banking services, digital banking channels, and responsible financial practices, helping participants develop greater confidence in managing financial decisions. At the closing ceremony, all participants received certificates of completion in recognition of their commitment, enthusiasm, and accomplishments throughout the programme.“Developing the next generation of banking talent is important for the long-term strength of our industry,” said Commercial Bank Group chief executive Stephen Moss.“Through the Young Bankers Programme, we give participants meaningful exposure to some of the capabilities and judgements they will need to develop if they choose to work in finance,” he said. “The ambition and passion shown by participants throughout the entire programme reinforced our desire to continue investing in this programme and similar initiatives.”The Young Bankers Programme remains one of Commercial Bank’s flagship initiatives under its social responsibility strategy, introducing successive generations of young people in Qatar to the fundamentals of banking and responsible financial management.Through initiatives such as this, Commercial Bank continues to invest in the development of future talent while supporting broader efforts to enhance financial literacy and human capital development across the country.
