His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani received on Monday a phone call from Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Abbas Araghchi.During the call, they discussed cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to support and develop them. They also discussed developments in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories, and Lebanon, in addition to topics of mutual interest. His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the need for concerted regional and international efforts to ensure the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, paving the way for achieving sustainable peace and the aspired stability in the region.

Qatar Charity (QC) has reached 21mn people in 2025 through humanitarian aid, development projects, and social care across nearly 70 countries. Qatar Charity delivered more than 14,000 development projects worth about QR925mn, benefiting over 11mn people worldwide. These included 1,489 food security projects reaching 17,490 individuals, 1,551 education and culture projects supporting 280,054 persons, and 1,825 economic empowerment projects assisting 43,023 people.The achievements also covered 432 social care projects benefiting 32,124 individuals, 286 housing projects serving 33,688 people, and 160 health projects reaching more than 7.8mn beneficiaries. Additionally, 8,233 water and sanitation projects improved access for over 2.3mn people, while 29 multi-service centres benefited 400,835 individuals.QC carried out 391 humanitarian interventions worth over QR645mn, benefiting nearly 10mn people. These efforts covered emergency relief, food aid, shelter, health, education, water, and livelihood support. QC’s humanitarian operations in 2025 focused heavily on crisis-hit regions, particularly Gaza. In Palestine overall, particularly in Gaza, the organisation carried out 61 interventions, benefiting about 5mn people at a cost of QR346mn. Among these was a major land-bridge aid initiative, which sent hundreds of trucks loaded with tents and relief supplies from Qatar through Jordan and Egypt into Gaza, reaching more than 200,000 individuals. In Sudan, QC carried out 17 humanitarian interventions in 2025, benefiting more than 370,000 people at a cost exceeding QR21mn. In Syria, the organisation implemented 61 interventions, reaching around 2mn people with an investment of QR55mn.The number of individuals sponsored by QC through its ‘Rafaqa’ initiative reached 224,200, including 198,411 orphans, 11,160 families, 8,086 students, 4,421 persons with disabilities, and 2,204 teachers, with total spending exceeding QR537mn. QC’s orphan care programmes included Ramadan Iftar, Zakat al-Fitr, Eid clothing, Udhiyah, Umrah trips, medical treatment, and Holy Qur’an education through the ‘Furqan’ programme.In a major step, the ‘Rafaqa’ initiative raised the sponsorship age to 23 years, allowing orphans to complete higher education or vocational training for a better future. In September 2025, QC opened a new office in Lebanon, bringing the number of field offices in its global network to 34, covering more than 70 countries through direct presence and strategic partnerships. In 2025, QC continued its journey of innovation and excellence, earning several awards. In October, the organisation was awarded first place jointly with Qatar Airways in the category of Best Digital Experience – Organisations & Corporates – recognising its tech solutions, such as the QC app, the ‘Al Aqraboon’ app, and Tap to Donate devices. 

The Winter Edition of ‘My Career-My Future Programme’ organised by Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour (MoL) and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), kicked off Sunday. The programme will run until Jan 1, 2026. Taking place at Multaqa (Education City Student Center), the winter edition offers participating students structured field experience in real-world work environments through practical training and mentorship with industry professionals. Participants who complete the programme will receive a certificate detailing the number of training and professional development hours completed. This edition focuses specifically on the financial services sector, along with selected entities from the healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, information technology and digital services, and construction sectors. This specialised approach aims to deepen participants’ experience in key sectors. Executive Director of QCDC Saad Abdulla al-Kharji said the value of professional immersion lies in its ability to transform theoretical perceptions of career aspirations into tangible experience. He explained that students’ engagement in real work environments, their interaction with specialists, and their firsthand exposure to required skills contribute to enhancing their awareness and confidence when making academic decisions. He added that the winter edition represents a focused, practical model made possible through close collaboration with the Center’s partners at the MoL and the MoEHE, as well as the host institutions that opened their doors to the students. Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at MoEHE Maha Zayed Qaqaa al-Ruwaili emphasised that this experience is a vital bridge connecting education and work, knowledge and skills, and theory and practice. Acting Director of Rehabilitation and Skills Development at MoL Mohamed Salem al-Khulaifi stated that launching the winter edition of the My Career-My Future programme helps introduce students to the work environment and the principles of professional conduct. It also provides them with opportunities to directly observe the nature of professional roles and interact with specialists, thus enhancing their readiness for their professional futures.

Qatar's economy maintained growth in the third quarter of 2025, with real GDP rising by 2.9% compared to the third quarter of 2024. This growth was driven primarily by non-hydrocarbon activities, which expanded by 4.4%, according to a statement issued by the National Planning Council (NPC) on Sunday.Real GDP estimates for the third quarter of 2025 reached QAR 186.1 billion at constant prices, compared with QAR 180.9 billion in the third quarter of 2024.Non-hydrocarbon activities accounted for 65.5% of real GDP, with value added reaching QAR 121.9 billion in the third quarter of 2025, compared to QAR 116.8 billion in the same period of 2024.This represents a year-on-year increase of 4.4%, in line with the objectives of the Third National Development Strategy (NDS3) and Qatar National Vision 2030.Within the non-hydrocarbon economy, the fastest-growing activities on a year-on-year basis were construction (9.1%), wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (8.9%), and accommodation and food service activities (6.4%).The expansion reflects rising domestic demand, increased visitor activity, and the continued rollout of infrastructure and public-sector projects, with positive spillover effects across services and trade.HE Secretary General of NPC, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, affirmed that these results reflect 'the resilience of the Qatari economy and the continuity of the path of economic diversification, as it achieves real growth […] driven by the strong performance of non-hydrocarbon activities […]. This performance underscores the success of economic and development policies in enhancing the contribution of productive and service sectors, in line with the targets of the Third National Development Strategy and strengthens the national economy's ability to achieve sustainable and balanced growth over the medium and long term.'Overall, 15 of 17 economic activities recorded positive real growth in the third quarter of 2025, demonstrating the resilience of Qatar's economic base.The NPC's National Statistics Center continues to refine its methods for measuring GDP, with recent revisions applied to the estimates of the third quarter of 2024.As part of ongoing efforts to align national accounts with international best practices (System of National Accounts 2008-2025), a comprehensive revision of Qatar's national accounts is underway and scheduled for completion by the first quarter of 2026.

The activities of the 17th edition of Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2026) will start on Thursday, Jan 1, and will continue until Jan 24 at Sabkhat Marmi in the Sealine area.The festival is held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, and it is supported by the Social and Sports Activities Support Fund 'Daam'.Muteb al-Qahtani, director of Championships at the Al-Qannas Qatari Society and chairman of the Marmi Festival, revealed that the Hadd Al-Tahaddi Championship will signal the launch of the festival on the evening of Jan 1, 2026, with the first group.He explained that the championship is dedicated to Shaheen falcon chicks, where a homing pigeon and a falcon are released. If the falcon manages to catch or corner the pigeon at a specific location, it is declared the winner and falconer is awarded QR100,000, in addition to qualifying for the final to compete for a Lexus car. He noted that the number of groups in the Hadd Al-Tahaddi Championship for this edition is 18.He added that the Hadd Al-Tahaddi Championship will continue with the second group on the following day, Jan 2. On the same day, the qualifying rounds of the Tal’a Championship for groups 1 to 5 will begin in the morning.He explained that the championship features 30 groups and is based on the falcon’s visual strength in spotting prey, as a houbara bustard is placed 2km from the falcon’s location. The falcon that launches first, lands, and captures the prey qualifies. On Jan 3, the qualifiers for groups six to 10 will take place, while in the evening, the Promising Falconer Championship will be held in parallel with the qualifying rounds of the Saluki Race Championship.The chairman of the Marmi Festival noted that the organising committee opened online registration for promising falconers on Dec 25 which will continue until 11pm on Jan 1, pointing out that the championship is open to the 6–15 age group. The competition will be in the Da’w event over a distance of 200m for the following categories: Tab’a and Shawayhina (wild or bred), and Qarmousha, Koubaj, and Wokri (wild or bred).Al-Qahtani further stated that the Tal’a Championship qualifiers for groups 11 to 15 will take place on Jan 4, groups 16 to 20 on Jan 5, groups 21 to 25 on Jan 6, and groups 26 to 30 on Jan 7.Immediately after the completion of the Tal’a Championship qualifiers, a draw will be conducted to determine the dates of the upcoming final rounds.In addition, al-Qahtani explained that the Hadd Al-Tahaddi Championship will resume with Group 3 on Jan 4, Group 4 (Jan 5), Group 5 (Jan 6), Group 6 (Jan 7), Group 7 (Jan 8), Group 8 (Jan 9), Group 9 (Jan 10), Group 10 (Jan 11), Group 11 (Jan 12), Group 12 (Jan 13), Group 13 (Jan 14), Group 14 (Jan 15), Group 15 (Jan 16), Group 16 (Jan 18), Group 17 (Jan 19), and Group 18 (Jan 20).He further noted that the Local Da’w Championship will be held on Jan 13. He explained that this competition measures the speed of falcons flying from the starting point to the finish line over a distance of 400m, which is a local distance.He added that the Local Da’w Championship will begin on Jan 13 morning for the categories of Gyr-Shaheen chick and locally bred free falcon chick, followed by local production in all categories. On Jan 14, qualifiers will be held for the Gyr Qarnass and free falcon chick categories, while on Jan 15, qualifiers will be held for the Gyr-Shaheen Qarnass and Shaheen Qarnass categories. The Local Da’w finals will conclude with the Gyr chick and free falcon Qarnass categories on the morning of Jan 16.He pointed out that the Saluki Race Championship final will take place on the evening of Saturday, Jan 17.He also noted that the Local Da’w final for all categories will be held on the morning of Jan 19, while the International Da’w final will take place on Jan 20. He said registration details and categories for the international event will be announced soon.Al-Qahtani added that the Hadd Al-Tahaddi Championship final will be held on the evening of Jan 23, while the Mazayin Championship (Falcon Beauty contest) will take place on Jan 24.The festival aims to preserve the cultural and emotional values of this sport inherited from forefathers, in addition to its importance in Arab folk heritage literature, particularly in the Gulf and Qatari context.

Bottom-placed Al Shahania produced a stunning upset as they swept aside league leaders Al Gharafa 3-0 at Al Khor Stadium Saturday, on the resumption of the Qatar Stars League following the international break.Shahania wasted no time in making their intentions clear, taking the lead as early as the fourth minute when Mohammed Bader Sayyar found the net. The early goal rattled Gharafa, and while the leaders pushed forward in search of an equaliser, they were caught out again as Sayyar struck for a second time in the 22nd minute to give his side a commanding advantage.The underdogs maintained their control after the break and sealed a memorable victory in the 64th minute, when Lotfi Rabah Madjer added the third goal to cap a dominant performance. The win lifted Shahania’s points tally to seven, moving them up to 11th place, while Gharafa remained top of the standings on 25 points despite the defeat. Gharafa have played a game more than second-placed Al Shamal, but they also have a four point cushion at the top.Speaking after the match, Shahania goalscorer Madjer praised his team’s confidence and commitment. “We entered the match believing in ourselves, and every player delivered,” he said. “We showed that Al Shahania are a respectable team capable of competing with any side in the league.”Madjer also credited the coach’s half-time instructions for maintaining their intensity. “The coach asked us to continue with the same approach we showed in the first half, and we stuck to the plan. We hope to carry this performance forward in the coming matches.” 

Gold prices in the Qatari market rose by 3.22 percent during the current week, reaching $4,479.89 per ounce on Thursday, according to data released by Qatar National Bank.The bank's data showed that the price of gold per ounce increased from $4,339.73, its level last Sunday.At the same time, prices of other precious metals also rose on a weekly basis. Silver prices increased by 7.13 percent to $71.9934 per ounce, compared to $67.1983 at the beginning of the week, while platinum prices rose by 12.42 percent to reach $2,228.4382 per ounce, up from $1,982.15 last Sunday.
