Qatari-Slovenian Business Forum to be held next month

Acting General Manager of Qatar Chamber (QC) Ali Bu Sherbak Al Mansouri, met on Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Chamber's headquarters, with the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the State of Qatar, Natalia Al Mansour. During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation in the trade and economic fields, as well as the role of the Qatari private sector in promoting trade exchange between the two countries. The meeting also touched on the arrangements for holding the Qatar-Slovenia Business Forum in Doha in November, with the participation of a high-level Slovenian delegation, alongside a number of Qatari and Slovenian businesspersons and investors. Al Mansouri affirmed the Chamber's readiness to cooperate with the Slovenian side to further develop trade and investment relations between the two countries. He noted that trade exchange between both countries amounted to about QR 138 million in 2024, highlighting the mutual desire to enhance the role of the private sector in stimulating investments and boosting bilateral trade.

His Excellency Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi met on Wednesday with the Minister of Foreign Relations of the Republic of Paraguay Euclides Acevedo, who is visiting the country. Discussions during the meeting covered cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen and develop them across various fields, in addition to the latest developments in the Middle East and Latin America. Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing international efforts to achieve security and stability and giving priority to the peaceful resolution of disputes in Latin America.

Lebanese Health Minister to QNA: Qatar a Global Model in Integrated Healthcare

Lebanon's Minister of Public Health Dr. Rakan Nassereddine highlighted the depth of the distinguished relations between the State of Qatar and Lebanon, praising Qatar's leadership in the health sector. In an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Lebanese Health Minister affirmed that the relations between the two countries date back many years and are based on a shared commitment to supporting and developing them in various fields. He praised the significant development witnessed by the State of Qatar across various sectors, particularly in the health field, noting that Qatar represents an advanced model to be emulated in integrated healthcare systems both regionally and internationally. He stressed Qatar's steadfast support for Lebanon and its continued assistance, especially in the health sector, highlighting the ongoing cooperation with the Qatar Fund for Development in the reconstruction of Karantina Hospital. He explained that Qatar's support for the Lebanese health sector has been present throughout various stages — starting from the COVID-19 pandemic, through the Beirut Port explosion, and up to the recent Israeli aggression against Lebanon--affirming that this continuous support reflects the depth of the fraternal relations between the two countries. The Minister also referred to his recent visit to Doha to participate in the 6th Global Ministerial Summit on Mental Health, noting the meetings he held with several officials from Qatar Charity, the Qatar Cancer Society, the Qatar Fund for Development, and the Qatar Red Crescent, during which ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the health and humanitarian fields were discussed. Dr. Nassereddine expressed his gratitude to the State of Qatar for its continued support to Lebanon, affirming his country's readiness to strengthen health cooperation and exchange expertise, particularly in crisis response and in dealing with injuries resulting from disasters and wars. He emphasized the importance of Arab partnerships, including with Qatar, to support Lebanon's health sector, which suffers from limited resources but at the same time boasts highly qualified and skilled professionals. He revealed an improvement in healthcare coverage for patients under the supervision of the Lebanese Ministry of Health, through the expansion of medication protocols — especially for cancer treatment — along with the gradual inclusion of kidney transplants and heart valve procedures, in addition to enhancing mental health support, particularly for chronic cases. The Minister of Public Health, pointed out that the ministry's 2024 budget amounted to around $445 million, while the 2025 budget is approximately $480 million, noting that more than $200 million of this amount is allocated to hospital care.

Austrian embassy hosts tourism delegation

The embassy of Austria Sunday received the ‘Austria Luxury Showcase’ tourism delegation to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between Qatar and Austria. Aimed to foster co-operation in the field of tourism, the event brought together leading representatives and stakeholders from the tourism sector while providing an excellent opportunity for exchange and networking.The event was attended by ambassador of Austria Erika Bernhard along with representatives from various Qatari and Austrian entities.While addressing the event, the ambassador noted that Austria and Qatar are celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations this year in a very constructive exchange in multiple sectors. “Austria and Qatar have been connected in friendship and in a very constructive exchange for such a long time. So we count on the success of the co-operation for the next 50 years. We can do even more,” she said.In the context of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the ambassador said, the Austrian embassy launched a series of events in mid-September. An exchange was made between the IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences in Austria and the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST). A high-level delegation from IMC Krems visited UDST to indicate a potential for future co-operation between the two institutions.“Our aim is to promote exchange between young people because they are the future. If they know each other better, understand each other’s cultures better, it’s good for all of us. The Austrian embassy together with the Austrian Trade Commission hosted a series of Austrian Business Council meetings. We are trying to contribute to intensifying the business exchange between our countries,” she said.As part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Katara Cultural Village hosted a cultural event entitled ‘Culinary Arts’ in co-operation with the Austrian embassy in Doha. This year Austria Tourism puts a particular focus on Qatar to foster co-operation in the field of tourism.‘Austria Luxury Showcase’ promises an experience of unparalleled elegance and sophistication and the opportunity to delve into the epitome of Austrian luxury as you explore the imperial treasures and alpine elegance.As part of the delegation visit, a destination dialogue, evening visit to Souq Waqif and farewell breakfast will be held. The event will come to an end on September 30.
