The Ministry of Interior has extended all categories of entry visas that have expired or are nearing expiration for a period of one month, subject to further extension in line with developments, effective Saturday, February 28, 2026.In a statement issued Tuesday, the ministry confirmed that the extension will be processed automatically through the approved electronic systems, with exemption from fees, and without the need to visit the relevant departments or submit additional applications.Regarding entry visas of all types that incurred violations prior to February 28, the Ministry clarified that the concerned individuals must first settle the prescribed reconciliation fine for the period of overstay. Thereafter, the extension and fee exemption shall apply to them effective from the aforementioned date.The ministry continues to monitor developments and take necessary measures as needed to ensure the stability of the legal status of residents and visitors.

The Ministry of Defense announced Monday that its armed forces had shot down two Iranian Sukhoi Su-24 fighter jets and intercepted a sweeping wave of missiles and drones targeting the country, as Iran struck critical national infrastructure in an unprecedented assault on the Gulf state.The Qatar Amiri Air Force downed both aircraft as they approached from Iranian airspace, while ground-based air defences intercepted seven ballistic missiles. Five additional drones were brought down by the Air Force and Amiri Naval Forces after they were launched against multiple locations across the country. The ministry said all projectiles were intercepted before reaching their intended targets, in line with operational plans activated immediately after the threats were detected, underlining the readiness of Qatar's layered defence architecture.However, two drones that formed part of the broader Iranian attack did succeed in reaching their targets. The first struck a water tank owned by the Mesaieed Power Plant, while the second hit a power generation facility in the Ras Laffan Industrial City — the heavily fortified hub of Qatar's liquefied natural gas industry and a cornerstone of the national economy that supplies energy markets across Europe and Asia. The Ministry of Defense confirmed that no human casualties were recorded in either strike, and said authoritative agencies would conduct a comprehensive damage assessment and release official statements in due course.The ministry stressed that Qatar's armed forces possess the full capabilities to safeguard the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and are prepared to respond firmly to any further external threat.Both the Defence Ministry and the Interior Ministry urged citizens, residents and visitors to remain calm and stay indoors where possible, avoiding unnecessary movement. The public was warned to report any suspicious objects immediately by calling 999, to stay away from incident sites, and to rely solely on official sources for information, with authorities stressing that spreading rumours or unverified content constitutes a legal violation that undermines national security efforts. 

Supplies are plentiful and markets are stable, Qatar's Ministry of Commerce and Industry said Saturday, moving to reassure the public that consumer needs are being met across the country.The ministry said inspection teams are conducting intensive rounds at shops and markets to monitor supply levels, ensure availability of essential goods, keep prices in check and take legal action against any violations detected.In a further step to ease public access to supplies, the ministry said it has coordinated with retailers to keep 22 major branches open around the clock across different parts of the country.The ministry encouraged consumers to report any irregularities or violations through official channels, reaffirming its commitment to consumer protection and market stability.

The Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Centre, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, held its 27th annual stamp and coin auction on Friday at its new headquarters in the ministry building.The auction featured 262 diverse items, including stamps, coins, covers, albums, and first editions.Centre director Hussein Rajab al-Ismail said that this year's auction is distinguished by the significant participation of collectors and enthusiasts of stamps and coins from the Gulf countries and the Arab world, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, Yemen, and Lebanon.He noted the Centre's commitment to offering comprehensive and rare examples that cater to the interests of stamp and coin collectors from across the Gulf and the Arab world.Al-Ismail highlighted the diverse range of exhibited items, including stamps, covers, and gold and silver banknotes and coins.He noted that the Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Centre's programme for this year features local and international participation and exhibitions, such as a major international stamp and coin exhibition in Doha, organised by the ministry with the participation of 16 countries from the Gulf, the Arab world, and beyond.The Centre will also participate in the Doha International Book Fair in May, the Macau International Stamp Exhibition 2026, the Asian International Stamp Exhibition in Bandung, Indonesia, the Sharjah Stamp Exhibition, and the Taipei International Philatelic Exhibition.The Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Centre aims to promote the hobby of stamp and coin collecting, working to elevate its standards and create opportunities for its development through national, regional, and international exhibitions and participation.

The Ministry of Municipality Ramadan Football Championship 2026 kicked off on Sunday at Al Sadd Club’s Stadiums, with the participation of teams representing various sectors of the ministry and municipalities, in a competitive atmosphere that reflects the spirit of co-operation among employees.The tournament will continue until early March. The opening matches saw the Agricultural Affairs and Food Security Sector team defeat the Doha Municipality team with a score of (6-1). Meanwhile, the Al Khor Municipality team secured a win against the Al Rayyan Municipality team with a score of (5-3), marking a strong start to the tournament, which will proceed according to the approved schedule leading up to the final match. 

The volume of real estate trading in sales contracts at the Department of Real Estate Registration at the Ministry of Justice during the period from February 8-12 reached QR367,854,098.Meanwhile total sales contracts for residential units in the Real Estate Bulletin for the same period reached QR35,644,640, bringing the total trading value for the week to approximately QR403.498mn.The weekly bulletin issued by the Department shows that the list of real estate properties traded for sale has included vacant land, residences, residential buildings, commercial shops, administrative offices, a commercial market, and residential units.Sales were concentrated in the municipalities of Doha, Al Daayen, Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah, Umm Salal, Al Shamal, Al Khor and Al Dhakhira, and in the areas of Al Wukair, The Pearl, Al Mashaf, Lusail 69, and Al Sakhama.The volume of real estate transactions in sales contracts registered with the Real Estate Registration Department reached more than QR1.2bn during the February 1-5 period. 

The State of Qatar has announced that Wednesday (February 18) will mark the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, following the sighting of the crescent moon. In a statement issued on Tuesday evening, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs said its Moon Sighting Committee had confirmed the beginning of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH. The committee met at the ministry's headquarters in Doha under the chairmanship of Sheikh Dr. Yahya bin Batty Al Nuaimi to verify testimonies of moon sightings on the 29th day of Shaaban, corresponding to February 17, 2026. The committee extended its congratulations on the occasion to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani; to His Highness the Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani; to His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani; as well as to the government, the Qatari people, and Muslims worldwide. Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed by Muslims around the world as a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection, and is considered one of the five pillars of Islam.
