Egypt coach Hossam Hassan will not be watching any more of the World Cup, he said on Tuesday, blaming refereeing errors for his country's heartbreaking ‌elimination from the tournament at the hands of Argentina.Egypt ​were 2-0 up with ‌11 minutes left of their last 16 clash ‌against the holders ⁠Argentina, agonisingly ‌close to one of the great ‌World Cup upsets, only to concede three goals in the closing ⁠stages and go out.They were picked apart at the end of the game by a Lionel Messi-inspired comeback, but Hassan insisted his team were better."I'm going home and won't be watching any more games from the tournament," he told a press conference."What happened to us wasn't fair. We should have had a ​penalty, a goal was disallowed, and I don't know why it was disallowed."Egypt netted in the 62nd minute through Mostafa Zico, but a VAR ‌check found there was ⁠a foul from ​the Egyptians in the buildup.They also claimed a late ​penalty after a tug on Hamdy Fathy, and their anger was exacerbated by Argentina going down the other end and scoring a 92nd-minute winner."Even if the goals came from mistakes, the biggest mistake is not getting what you're entitled to from those responsible for making the decisions," said Hassan, whose press conference was a long litany of complaints. 'I CAN ONLY TELL THE FANS NOT TO BE UPSET'"I'm the type of person who hates losing. And when it's a defeat that ‌feels unjust like today's, I ‌can only tell the ⁠fans not to be upset. We wanted so much to give ⁠them more joy," he ⁠added."But what made me happy was that my players followed the game plan on many occasions and worked very well."Egypt had been surprisingly attacking early on in the game, a departure from Hassan's usual tactic of playing with a tight defence and looking for counter-attack opportunities.It ​helped them take an early lead, but it was the heroics of goalkeeper Mostafa Shoubir that ensured they remained in front by halftime."I'm very, very satisfied with the effort they put in. Most of our players come from the Egyptian domestic league, while many players in other national teams are based in Europe and live in that professional environment," Hassan added."Yet with predominantly local players -- ‌besides Mohamed Salah ​and Omar Marmoush -- we were able to compete with anyone."  

Cristiano Ronaldo said that he won't rush into a decision about his future following Portugal's exit to Spain in his last World Cup match on Monday.The 41-year-old Portugal great said on the eve of the last-16 encounter, which his team lost 1-0, that this was his final World Cup.Asked afterwards about what comes next, he said: "It was my last World Cup, yes, but I'll have time to think about the rest, to be with my family, not make rash decisions, and just get on with life." The Portugal captain and one of the best footballers in history, said: "That's football, that's the life of a footballer."Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and you have to move on." Ronaldo, the leading scorer in the history of men's international football, said he would leave the World Cup stage "with a clear conscience"."The truth is, the biggest title I won with the national team was in 2016 (Euros), which for me is just as significant as a World Cup, honestly," he said."That's why, I repeat, I'm leaving with a clear conscience, at my best, and that's it. Tomorrow is a new day, and life goes on."Ronaldo was a European champion with Portugal a decade ago but never tasted World Cup glory, the high point a semi-final 20 years ago.

England captain Harry Kane said he was proud that his team had found a way to win a nerve-jangling World Cup last-16 match against Mexico in the Estadio Azteca. The Three Lions were on the back foot for a third of the match after defender Jarell Quansah was sent off for a high challenge.Kane, hoarse after celebrating with his teammates and England's supporters, said: "It was a crazy game. We had to fight and we had to find something."I've just been singing, I can't really talk. The occasion, the team, everything against us, we found a way." Jude Bellingham scored twice for England in the space of 98 seconds in the first half but then conceded a penalty that the referee awarded after checking VAR images. Kane then scored a penalty on the hour-mark. "I thought I got to the ball first, it was one of those days," Kane said. "The ref gave a lot against us. In the end it didn't matter so I'm happy."

England midfielder Jordan Henderson suffered a wrist injury during the team's post-game celebration following a 3-2 win ‌over Mexico in the World ​Cup round of 16 ‌on Sunday night that manager ‌Thomas ⁠Tuchel ‌called "serious."Henderson was seen ‌on video hopping over an advertising board ⁠at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City as England headed towards their fans at one end of the stadium to sing "Wonderwall" by Oasis, which has become tradition for the Three Lions. However, ​Henderson's hand slipped and he was in clear pain after trying to break his ‌fall. Multiple teammates ⁠immediately called ​for medical assistance and Henderson was ​later stretchered off the field."He is at the moment in the hospital, it is quite a serious injury," Tuchel told reporters Sunday night. "It doesn't fit with the rest of the evening. I don't know the procedure."Henderson, 36, became the first ‌England man ‌to appear in ⁠four different World Cups when he came ⁠on ⁠against Panama during the group stage. He did not get into Sunday's game, but was shown a yellow card during the second half for actions on the ​sideline. The Football Association confirmed that Henderson was going to stay in Mexico City on Sunday night with an England staff member while the remainder of the team and staff returned to their training base in Kansas City.England will ‌face Norway ​in the quarterfinals on Saturday in Miami Gardens, Fla.
