Qatar Chamber recently concluded its ‘Young Investor’ training programme, which was held over three days at the chamber’s headquarters with the participation of several young people. The training was organised as part of the chamber’s ongoing efforts to promote financial literacy and enhance economic awareness among the younger generation. It aimed to introduce children and young people to the basics of saving, money management, and investment through interactive learning methods that included knowledge and practical application, helping participants develop a sound understanding of financial concepts in a simple and engaging manner. The programme featured a series of workshops and practical activities focused on developing financial planning skills, promoting sound financial decision-making, and encouraging participants to adopt a culture of saving and investment from an early age. Fatima Issa al-Kuwari, head of Training and Development at Qatar Chamber, said the initiative reflects the chamber’s commitment to investing in the development of future generations by instilling financial literacy from an early age, enabling young people to make informed financial decisions in the future. She noted that the programme was designed using an interactive approach that combined learning with enjoyment, making financial concepts more accessible while strengthening participants’ understanding of saving, money management, and investment.

Sustained investments in research infrastructure, precision health, and international collaboration anchor Qatar’s strategy to build a dynamic biotechnology hub across the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, according to Invest Qatar. “Qatar is helping lay the foundations for a dynamic biotechnology ecosystem and contributing to the next chapter of global biotechnology innovation,” stated Nasser al-Kaabi, head of Investment Facilitation at Invest Qatar. Al-Kaabi, in an article published on Invest Qatar’s X account titled ‘Unlocking Biotechnology Growth in the Middle East and Africa: from emerging potential to global impact’, said these national initiatives align with Qatar National Vision 2030, which places health and human development at the heart of long-term economic strategy. He said Qatar has made sustained investments in research, healthcare, and scientific infrastructure, allocating between “0.5%” and “0.7%” of GDP to research and development in recent years, aiming to boost this figure to “1.5%” by 2030.“At the same time, healthcare expenditure is projected to grow from approximately $7bn in 2025 to $12.5bn by 2030, supporting the continued development of an innovation-driven healthcare ecosystem,” al-Kaabi stated. He said this spending supports a growing innovation network backed by institutions like Qatar Foundation, Qatar Biomedical Research Institute, Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute, Sidra Medicine, and local universities.Precision medicine and genomics remain key focal points, he stated. “National initiatives, including the Qatar Precision Health Institute (QPHI), which is responsible for Qatar Biobank and the Qatar Genome Programme have collectively advanced population-scale research, with more than 40,000 Qatari and Arab genomes sequenced, creating one of the region’s most comprehensive genomic datasets,” al-Kaabi explained.These initiatives back targeted medical research while opening avenues for scientific collaboration, according to al-Kaabi. “Biotechnology is rapidly emerging as one of the defining industries of the 21st century. From developing life-saving therapies and strengthening food security to advancing sustainable manufacturing and addressing environmental challenges, its impact extends far beyond the laboratory,” he stated. The global biotech market is expected to expand from “$1.38tn” in 2025 to “$4.33tn” by 2034, registering a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of “13.6%,” al-Kaabi said.“Increasingly, policymakers recognise that leadership in biotechnology is not merely a scientific ambition but an economic necessity for competitiveness, resilience and long-term prosperity,” he emphasised. While North America holds the largest market share and Asia-Pacific grows at the fastest pace, the MEA region is claiming greater prominence. Regional market value is forecast to climb from “$51.5bn” in 2025 to “$125.9bn” by 2034, reflecting a “10.5%” CAGR, al-Kaabi stated.Al-Kaabi stated, “This momentum is being driven by rising healthcare demand, increased investment in research and development, a growing focus on food security and sustainability, and efforts to diversify economies beyond traditional sectors.”He also said GCC states are expanding their regional capabilities through targeted policies, including Saudi Arabia’s National Biotechnology Strategy and the UAE's life sciences hubs.“However, global competitiveness requires more than investment alone. Successful biotechnology ecosystems combine world-class research, access to capital, supportive regulation, industry collaboration and specialised talent,” he said. Al-Kaabi also said, “As biotechnology becomes increasingly central to future economic competitiveness, the countries that successfully connect research excellence, investment capital and commercialisation capabilities will define the next generation of global biotech hubs.”

The State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have discussed bilateral security cooperation during talks in Doha.His Excellency Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani met on Monday with the Minister of Interior and Narcotics Control of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mohsin Raza Naqvi.The two ministers explored ways to further boost bilateral relations between the two nations in the security sector and discussed several issues of shared concern.  

Qatar SC have signed Spanish midfielder Albert Ramis Luque from Muaither ahead of the 2026-27 season.In a statement on X account, the club said the move is part of its efforts to strengthen the first-team squad with players capable of providing a technical boost.Qatar SC did not disclose the financial terms of the deal or the length of the player's contract.Luque joined Muaither in the summer of 2025 before securing the move to Qatar SC.Managed by Spaniard Bartolome Marquez Lopez for a second consecutive season, Qatar SC will be aiming to improve on last season's sixth-place finish in the Qatar Stars League, while also seeking a strong campaign in the Gulf Club Champions League.   

Her Excellency Minister of State for International Cooperation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad met Monday with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the State of Qatar Neerav Patel.The two sides discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries and ways to deepen and expand it, in addition to a range of matters of mutual interest.  

The Global Carbon Council (GCC), an independent, internationally recognized carbon standard in the Global South, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kingdom of Bhutan’s Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC). The partnership comes as Bhutan continues to strengthen its national carbon market architecture and readiness to participate in cooperative approaches under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.The MoU aims to strengthen Bhutan’s institutional and technical readiness for participation in international carbon markets, with a focus on capacity development, carbon market governance, methodologies, project development, registration and issuance processes, and digital registry infrastructure."Bhutan has demonstrated exceptional environmental leadership through its enduring commitment to net zero. This collaboration will support the country in translating that ambition into credible and scalable carbon market action. By combining strong national ownership with high-integrity standards, methodologies, and interoperable infrastructure,we aim to help mobilize climate finance while safeguarding environmental integrity and sustainable development,” said Founding Chairman of the Global Carbon Council, Dr. Yousef Alhorr.For his part, Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Royal Government of Bhutan, Karma Tshering, said, "This collaboration represents an important step in strengthening Bhutan’s institutional and technical readiness for international carbon markets. Through capacity development, knowledge exchange, and access to credible standards and infrastructure, we aim to ensure that Bhutan’s participation in carbon markets supports national priorities, maintains environmental integrity, and contributes to sustainable development.”Under the MoU, GCC will conduct capacity-building workshops and training on GCC standards, rules and requirements, the project development cycle, registration and issuance processes, registry infrastructure, and methodology development.The parties will also explore cooperation to support the adoption of relevant GCC standards, governance arrangements, and methodologies for Bhutan’s carbon market. This is intended to strengthen national technical capabilities and facilitate the development of mitigation activities capable of generating measurable and independently verified greenhouse gas emission reductions and removals.

Diabetes Qatar (also known as the Qatar Diabetes Association) organised a dedicated support programme for children newly diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and their families at Diabetes Qatar’s headquarters, with the participation of 13 families.The programme was designed to provide psychological support for children and their parents during the early stages of diagnosis, helping them adapt to the challenges associated with this new phase.It also aimed to foster a sense of belonging among the children by giving them the opportunity to meet and interact with peers who are going through similar experiences.The programme featured a variety of educational and recreational activities tailored for children, helping them learn how to live confidently with Type 1 diabetes in an engaging and enjoyable way.**media[472991]**Through interactive activities, children learned about insulin injection sites, while participating in games and group activities that promoted self-confidence and created a supportive environment.Running alongside the children's activities, Diabetes Qatar introduced parents to its services and programmes, highlighting its role in providing health education, psychological support, and community-based services, as well as explaining how families can benefit from the association's resources.The programme included a specialised psychological support workshop for parents delivered by Sanabel Akef from Al Sanabel Specialised Mental Health Centre.The session focused on the emotional impact of a child's diagnosis and provided practical guidance on supporting children and helping families successfully navigate the initial stages of living with diabetes.This initiative forms part of the Qatar Diabetes Association's wider summer programme, which aims to raise health awareness and encourage healthy lifestyles across the community.As part of these initiatives, the association also participated in the Qatar Sports For All Federation's Summer Activity Programme and delivered several online educational workshops, including "Our Children's Health Starts at Home", which emphasised the family's role in building healthy habits and promoting the prevention of chronic diseases.
