Brian Lara Stadium hosts maiden Test as West Indies face Pakistan

West Indies and Pakistan meet at Test cricket's newest venue in Trinidad on Saturday at the start of a two-match series in which the home side will be enjoying rare favoured status against the unsettled visitors.Brian Lara Stadium, located in the south of the island, has previously hosted one-day and T20 internationals along with regional first-class fixtures.It becomes the nation's second Test match venue and 13th in the West Indies, drawing it alongside Queen's Park Oval in the capital, Port of Spain, the venue of the second Test a week later.Roston Chase enjoyed his first match and series wins as West Indies Test captain just three weeks ago when the Caribbean team demolished Sri Lanka by an innings and 217 runs and then played out a draw in the second and final Test, both matches played in Antigua.Chase missed the recent ODI series loss to New Zealand with an injury to his right index finger."Roston is a fighter. I know he's not going to want to miss any Test cricket," West Indies head coach Daren Sammy said."I'm pretty sure Dr. Byam (team physio Denis Byam) has a way of keeping guys on the park, so I'm pretty sure Roston will be ready for the first Test."It was their first home Test series triumph since a 2-0 sweep of Bangladesh in 2022, a result which also gave them their last consecutive series wins anywhere as the whitewash of the Bangladeshis was preceded by a notable 1-0 home triumph over England in a three-Test contest.West Indies are not expected to make significant alterations to the winning combination from the Sri Lankan series, although left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican is likely to come into consideration at the expense of fast-medium bowler Anderson Phillip given the expectation of a pitch favouring spin later in the match.In stark contrast, Pakistan have once again revamped their squad in the aftermath of a 2-0 series loss in Bangladesh two months ago with senior batsman Babar Azam returning as captain in place of Shan Masood in hope of reviving their Test fortunes.Babar and opening batsman Azan Awais both compiled hundreds in the lone warm-up match against a West Indies Select XI at the weekend while most of the other main batsmen also got confidence-boosting runs.However the most encouraging aspect of the match in batting-friendly conditions for the tourists was the bowling of pacer Mohammad Ali, who took five wickets in the first innings and will be relied upon, together with the other members of the restructured pace armoury, to give Pakistan a chance to end a miserable run of seven consecutive Test match losses away from home.Their last visit to the Caribbean in 2021 finished in a 1-1 draw after two Tests in Kingston while the teams' most recent Test encounters were in the spin-dominant Multan in January of 2025 when the West Indies trumped Pakistan at their own game in the second match to also leave that series at 1-1.This meeting of two unpredictable sides carries the additional dimension of intervention by the elements as the July/August period is usually one of significant rainfall in the southern Caribbean.While Trinidad has enjoyed hot, sunny conditions in the days leading up to the first Test, there is certainly no guarantee that such pleasant cricketing weather will be sustained over the fortnight of this short series.

Australia chief floats idea of England Test in India

Cricket Australia chief executive Todd Greenberg is open to the possibility of staging a Test against England in India.The three nations represent cricket's 'Big Three' -- the sport's most powerful nations -- but India are the financial powerhouse of the global game, fuelled by the mass enthusiasm for the sport in the world's most populous country.Any Australia-England fixture in India would need the backing of both the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)."It's not something that we are planning, but it's open for consideration," Greenberg told the BBC in comments published Thursday. "We'd have to be open to considering all options."Our relationship with the ECB and the BCCI is very strong and clearly there are opportunities in India to put more content in certain areas."Australia and England played the first Test in cricket history in Melbourne in 1877 and next year they will meet at the Melbourne Cricket Ground for a one-off pink-ball fixture to mark the 150th anniversary of that inaugural clash. PLAYERS VOICE CONCERNSeveral former players are understood to have voiced concerns that the showpiece match will be a pink-ball affair but Greenberg said it was not his job "to be popular"."We wanted to get as many people for the game as possible," he said. "Playing that game in the day while people are at work and school would've made that difficult."Clearly there's a commercial imperative with broadcast rights back in the UK and the time zone. Pink-ball Tests for us are hugely advantageous in terms of audience."It will anger some of the traditionalists but we're in the business of getting more eyeballs on our game."But Greenberg said Cricket Australia were trying to strike a balance between celebrating a significant landmark in Test history and ensuring the longer format attracts new spectators."We're trying to balance celebrating 150 years of Test cricket between our two countries but also have an eye on the future and how we can evolve the sport," he added.

Australia welcome Cummins, Hazlewood, Lyon back for Bangladesh Tests

Australia captain Pat Cummins, fellow fast bowler Josh Hazlewood and veteran spinner Nathan Lyon have returned from injury to be included in a 13-man squad for next month's two-Test home series against Bangladesh. The trio were named on Tuesday for matches in Darwin (Aug. 13-17) and Mackay (Aug. 22-26), which form part of the World Test Championship cycle, after playing only three Tests between them during the Ashes in the last home summer. Australia's "big four" of Cummins, Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Lyon have not bowled together since the West Indies tour a year ago due to various injuries but chief selector George Bailey said it was too early to confirm whether they would all turn out against Bangladesh, despite being fit. "We won't be locking in an 11 this far out," Bailey told reporters in a video call on Tuesday. "We do know that across this two-test series, the depth is there." With 295 test wickets at an average of 24.21, 35-year-old Hazlewood has been one of Australia's most devastating bowlers but injuries have limited his output in recent years, including forcing him to miss the entire Ashes series with hamstring and Achilles problems. In his absence, 37-year-old seamer Scott Boland took 20 wickets in an excellent series in the 4-1 defeat of England, and Bailey was frank about the competition Hazlewood faces from the Victoria quick. "Scotty would never say it, but yeah, I think he's mounting a strong case that when you use the words of big three (fast bowlers), that he could be one of those," said Bailey.Hazlewood's recall means no place for Michael Neser despite the paceman's fine Ashes campaign. The squad is the first following opener Usman Khawaja's retirement, potentially creating opportunity at the top of the order. South Australia opener Jake Weatherald has been retained despite struggling during his debut test series in the Ashes when he averaged 22.33 across the five matches. The pocket-sized lefthander has yet to convince but Bailey said selectors saw positives in the opening combination with Travis Head during the Ashes. "Hopefully we do see some growth out of that (Ashes) and some understanding of what it takes for success at test level," he said. Cameron Green has also held onto his spot after a disappointing Ashes with bat and ball, and is one of two all-rounders in the squad with Beau Webster. Josh Inglis was retained as a potential middle order batting option. Australia sit top of the World Test Championship table midway through the cycle and will look to cement their place with a series win over fourth-placed Bangladesh ahead of a tough tour of South Africa in October. Australia squad: Pat Cummins (captain), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Jake Weatherald, Beau Webster..

McCullum confident he can work with new England Test coach

Brendon McCullum insists he can work alongside England's next Test coach despite being sacked from the role.McCullum was dismissed as Test boss following England's 2-1 defeat by New Zealand in a series that culminated in the international retirement of red-ball captain Ben Stokes.But McCullum remains in charge of England's white-ball teams and oversaw a 4-0 T20 series whitewash of world champions India.On Sunday, there was more success for McCullum's team, with a 27-run win at Lord's to seal England's first one-day international series victory over India since 2018.England posted 387-3 - the highest ODI total at Lord's - thanks to Ben Duckett's 141, with both Jacob Bethell and Joe Root contributing fifties.But while England's white-ball teams are making progress, the Test side are on a run of seven defeats in nine matches heading into a home series with Pakistan starting next month.Asked how he would work with a new Test coach in a potential awkward situation, McCullum said: "Collaboratively, I think. I think once the new coach is put in place, we'll have a good conversation around everything."I think ultimately as long as everyone wants what is right for English cricket, there will be some give and take on certain things. That is the way it is."Andy Flower, a former England coach, has ruled himself out of succeeding McCullum as Test boss. Jonathan Trott, an ex-England batsman, and former Australia coach Justin Langer are among the leading candidates to take over from McCullum.Former New Zealand captain McCullum has been buoyed by England's white-ball form ahead of next year's ODI World Cup in southern Africa."I think we've seen some growth in the side over the last couple of series and there is some more growth to come, which is exciting and where my focus is on," he said.

Brook hails England coach McCullum's impact in series win over India

Harry Brook lauded coach Brendon McCullum for his role in England's first one-day international series victory over India since 2018 following an entertaining 27-run win at Lord's on Sunday.McCullum was sacked as Test coach following England's recent 2-1 home defeat by New Zealand that culminated in the international retirement of red-ball captain Ben Stokes.But the former New Zealand skipper remained in charge of England's white-ball teams and has overseen a 4-0 T20 series whitewash of world champions India, which was followed Sunday by a win that secured a 2-1 success in a three-match ODI series.Ben Duckett's dominant 141 was the cornerstone of England's 387-3, a new record for the highest total in an ODI at Lord's, with fellow opener Jacob Bethell making 91.Joe Root's 74 not out was his third fifty of the series, with Jos Buttler's dashing unbeaten 41 off just 13 balls making a crucial difference to the outcome.Rohit Sharma, amid speculation this could be his last match before retiring from international duty kept the tourists in the game with a brilliant 138 -- the first ODI century by an India batsman at Lord's -- and Virat Kohli weighed in with 74.'QUICK CHAT'But England captain Brook's decision to turn to Bethell's part-time spin proved inspired with the Barbados-born youngster bowling Sharma on a day of tributes to his mentor Garry Sobers, the outstanding West Indies' all-rounder who died on Friday."That was a tough little period, they (India) were obviously getting ahead of the game and playing really well," said Brook, who praised the much-criticised McCullum's tactical input."I decided to go off for an over and have a quick chat with Baz to gather his thoughts. Again, it comes back to the communication which has been outstanding throughout the T20s, throughout the ODIs."They have a slightly different view from up there, with the TVs and analytic work and going up there to have a quick chat to see what we could do.He said, 'have a go with Beth, a slightly different spinner to what we've got with him driving it into the pitch,' and thankfully it came off."Brook has previously said he would have no qualms about succeeding Stokes as Test captain, although he accepted Sunday it would be "tough" to lead in all three international formats ahead of a 2027 when a home Ashes series is followed by an ODI World Cup in South Africa.He added: "That's not my decision. Whoever is the new coach will have that decision to make. It would be tough to do it, but I'm not saying it is impossible. If I get asked, we'll see where it takes us."India captain Shubman Gill rued Buttler's blistering late assault but swerved questions about Sharma's international future by saying: "He has not told us anything. I think it is all out in the media, but there has not been any discussions internally."

Flower rules himself out of contention as England Test head coach

Andy Flower has ruled himself out of contention for the vacant England Test head coach position, saying he is happy in franchise cricket and intends to remain in his current roles.The former Zimbabwe captain, who coached England from 2009 to 2014, had been considered among the favourites to succeed Brendon McCullum, who was sacked earlier this month after a run of poor results and amid continued scrutiny of the team's culture.Flower, who coaches Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League and London Spirit in The Hundred, said he had spoken with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and managing director Rob Key about the role."I have spoken with Rob (Key) and the ECB on that topic. The bottom line for me is that I'm very happy in the work that I'm doing at the moment," Flower told reporters at Lord's on Friday during London Spirit's media day."I work for a couple of really good organisations, I've got really good teams around me, really good people around me. I'm really comfortable with what I'm doing at the moment."As England coach, Flower oversaw home and away Ashes victories as well as a Test series win in India. Since leaving the national side, he has enjoyed considerable success in franchise cricket, most recently leading RCB to back-to-back IPL titles."I've worked with England before and I had an amazing time when I had the privilege to be England head coach... and it would be a privilege for me or anyone else to be the Test coach," he said."But for me at this time, I'm really comfortable with what I'm doing. I'm going to stick with doing that."McCullum was appointed in 2022 shortly after Ben Stokes became test captain and oversaw the aggressive style of cricket dubbed "Bazball". England lost 20 of their 49 tests under the New Zealander, including seven of their last nine, and failed to win a five-test series against either Australia or India.

McCullum sorry for England Test defeats after Australia and India losses

Brendon McCullum has apologised for the unsuccessful end of his reign as England's Test coach, saying "it's time for someone else to have a go".McCullum, who will remain in charge of England's limited-overs set-up, was axed from the red-ball role he had held since 2022 after overseeing seven defeats in the team's last nine Tests.The former New Zealand captain was said to have "stood down" in an England and Wales Cricket Board statement released Sunday but McCullum had no qualms in admitting Monday he had been dismissed."Yeah, I got a tap on the shoulder," he told reporters in Birmingham on the eve of the first one-day international against India at Edgbaston."I was disappointed but at the same time I fully respect the decision. We're in a results business and fundamentally our results weren't good enough. It's time for someone else to have a go."We didn't always get it right. For that, I put my hand up and say we weren't able to get there."England's recent 2-1 loss at home to McCullum's native New Zealand, which culminated with the international retirement of red-ball captain Ben Stokes, marked the end of his reign as Test coach.But the writing was on the wall for the 44-year-old McCullum following a woeful 4-1 Ashes reverse in Australia concluded in January marred by allegations of a drinking culture among his players.That extended England's mediocre record in showpiece series against the other members of the so-called 'Big Three', losing away to Australia and India and drawing 2-2 against both countries on home soil."We just weren't quite able to win those big series, against India and Australia, the two marquee series," said McCullum. "We just weren't able to get the results and for that I guess I can only say sorry."I was the leader of that group. I was in charge of the team culturally, in charge of the team tactically, in charge of the team results-wise as well."McCullum added: "If you don't get the results, being a results business, fundamentally you get replaced."I'm not unaccustomed to that, I've been around this game for 20-odd years and I know if you aren't getting the results, someone else needs an opportunity."I put my hand up for that and accept it wasn't good enough."

BREAKING NEWS: McCullum stand downs as England Test cricket coach

Brendon McCullum has left his role as England's Test head coach but will remain in charge of the national white-ball set-up, the England and Wales Cricket Board announced Sunday.England have lost seven of their last nine Tests under the former New Zealand captain.This includes a woeful 4-1 Ashes defeat in Australia in 2025/26 and last month's 2-1 loss at home to New Zealand, with both series overshadowed by allegations of a team drinking culture."I've absolutely loved coaching the Test side and I'm incredibly proud of what we've achieved together," said McCullum in an ECB statement, adding: "Of course I'm gutted not to be continuing, but I respect the decision."Former England captain Ben Stokes announced his international retirement midway through what turned out to a crushing defeat in the third and final Test against New Zealand at Trent Bridge -- the final match of McCullum's red-ball reign.

West Indies completed their first home Test series triumph for two years when the second and final match against Sri Lanka petered out into a tame, rain-affected draw on the last day at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Tuesday.Needing victory to square the series after a crushing innings loss in the first Test a week earlier at the same venue, the tourists declared their second innings at 251 for nine just after lunch, setting their hosts the daunting target of 302 in less than two sessions for a sweep of the two-match duel. However, the West Indies' opening pair of John Campbell and Brandon King put together an unbroken opening stand of 89, interrupted first by a brief shower and by longer, sustained precipitation which extinguished any prospect of an outright result either way.Fulfilling the often bewildering and tedious formalities of the traditional game in situations like this, play resumed in late afternoon for 40 minutes of aimless cricket when the match was called off as a draw with the West Indies at 109 with loss. Both Campbell and King were unbeaten on 51 apiece.West Indies' last Test series win on home soil was a 2-0 hammering of Bangladesh in 2024 when comfortable victories were achieved at this venue and then at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia.Their last series victory over Sri Lanka was in 2003 at home when they prevailed 1-0 in a similar two-match contest.Starting the final morning at 92 for two in their second innings, an overall lead of 142, the Sri Lankan overnight pair of Dinesh Chandimal and Kamindu Mendis made intentions clear from the outset.They looked for every opportunity to score to give captain Dhananjaya de Silva a realistic option of at least trying to declare to force a series-saving victory.Mendis fell to Jayden Seales for 44 while Chandimal continued to play his shots, the former captain getting to 71 off 107 balls with two sixes and four fours before he was next out,Kavem Hodge coming up with an excellent diving catch at backward-point off the bowling of Alzarri Joseph.Wickets fell at regular intervals thereafter with the Sri Lankans continuing to take chances in seeking to accelerate the scoring.As a result, all six bowlers used by West Indies captain Roston Chase, including himself and part-time spinner Hodge, were able to benefit from the risk-taking. Joseph had the best figures of two for 44. Brief Scores: Sri Lanka 549 for 9 dec (Udara 188, Dinusha 92, Seales 2-98, Shamar 2-98) and 251 for 9 dec (Chandimal 71, Alzarri 2-44) drew with West Indies 499 (Greaves 180, Hope 112, Asitha 5-130) and 109 for 0 (Campbell 51*, King 51*)

Babar to captain Pakistan on West Indies and England Test tours

Pakistan on Sunday replaced struggling Test captain Shan Masood with Babar Azam, who will start a third stint as skipper on the tours of the West Indies and England starting later this month.Masood, 36, took over from Azam in December 2023 and led the side to 12 defeats in 16 Tests. Pakistan finished ninth and last in the last World Test Championship cycle.They again lie ninth in the current cycle after a 2-0 series defeat in Bangladesh in May."Azam will be our new Test captain as we feel that Masood could not lead as desired," said Pakistan selector Aaqib Javed at a news conference to announce the squad on Sunday."The selection committee discussed who could be the best player to lead Pakistan and Azam is the best option," said Javed.This will be top-order batsman Azam's third spell in charge of the side, having stepped down in November 2023 and then again in October 2024.Pakistan will play the first of two Tests against the West Indies in Tarouba, Trinidad, from July 25. The second begins in Port-of-Spain from August 2,Pakistan will then travel to England for Tests at Headingley, beginning August 19, Lord's from August 27 and Edgbaston starting on September 9.Fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hasan Ali were omitted after being part of the squad that lost 2-0 in Bangladesh.Selectors awarded a place to 20-year-old uncapped fast bowler Ubaid Shah, the younger brother of Naseem, who was left out of the squad.Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Abbas and Mohammad Ali were the three other fast bowlers selected.Uncapped middle-order batsman Awais Zafar and left-arm spinner Ali Usman were included for the first time.Pakistan squad: Babar Azam (captain), Aamer Jamal, Abdullah Fazal, Ali Usman, Azan Awais, Imam-ul-Haq, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Rizwan, Awais Zafar, Ghazi Ghori, Sajid Khan, Salman Agha, Shan Masood, Ubaid Shah, Saud Shakeel (subject to fitness for England).

'Burnt out' Stokes leaves England facing tricky questions

What happens next? That is the awkward question facing English cricket after Ben Stokes announced his retirement from international duty in the middle of a Test match.Stokes explained on Sunday that he felt "burnt out" after four years as England's Test captain following an extraordinary day of drama in the third match of the series against New Zealand at Trent Bridge.Replacing him in the England set-up, both as captain or as a match-winning all-rounder, is going to be all but impossible.The announcement of the impending end of Stokes' England career came as the 35-year-old was involved in a marathon bowling spell, with the series on the line.It was the start of a scarcely credible sequence of events.The crowd in Nottingham gave Stokes a standing ovation before the skipper took a wicket with his next delivery -- a stark example of his ability to impact a game by sheer force of will as well as skill. MITCHELL'S GUTSY CENTURYDespite his heroics, the visitors were able to set England a stiff victory target of 373 after Daryl Mitchell's gutsy century.Stokes later promoted himself to open England's innings even though he is normally a middle-order batsman. He blazed his way to a tempestuous 30 off 20 balls, including two sixes, before he holed out -- showing little of the calculated risk-taking that underpinned some of his greatest innings.Stokes, who walked off to more applause, had played his last on-field role in an international career spanning 15 years.At stumps England had slumped to 103-4, facing defeat and a 2-1 series loss on Monday. The timing of the captain's announcement and his decision to promote himself to the top of the order, left him open to accusations of self-indulgence.'DRAINING'But if the all-rounder has had enough, perhaps it is no surprise. England suffered a chastening 4-1 Ashes loss in Australia in a series that ended in January and Stokes needed major facial surgery after being hit by a ball the following month.Then came a written warning following a disciplinary incident at a London nightclub after England's win in the first Test against New Zealand, which led to his omission from the second match of the series."I'll never begrudge any moment where I've walked this team out," Stokes told Sky Sports after stumps. "It's simply the greatest honour you could ever put on your shoulders as a player."But he added: "As good as it is, there are bits where it does get to you, it does drain you, it does affect you in a negative way." 'POTENTIALLY BURNT MYSELF OUT'Reflecting on England's victory in the first Test at Lord's, he said: "I put so much time and effort into it I maybe, potentially burnt myself out."Everyone I spoke to about the day it (retirement) happens, they just say it kicks you straight in the face. And I thought a few weeks ago that it did."As I was putting my pads on (on Saturday) getting ready to go out there, that was the last nail in the coffin."Stokes, whose international career was interrupted by a nightclub incident in 2017 that ended with his acquittal on a charge of affray, intends to play on with his county side Durham. 'AFFECTION TOWARDS CRICKET'"Being back at Durham, I found not a reconnection but a new lease of life in my affection towards cricket," he explained. "And then I just couldn't get that same feeling back here this week (at Trent Bridge), as much as I was trying."England looked a badly imbalanced team in the second Test at the Oval, with his predecessor as England captain Joe Root leading the side to a heavy defeat.Harry Brook is the official vice-captain but was left in the ranks after his altercation with a nightclub bouncer in New Zealand ahead of the Ashes -- an incident that led to the imposition of the curfew Stokes breached in London.Brook on Sunday tried to follow his skipper's lead with the attacking Bazball batting that has been a hallmark of England's style since Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum teamed up in 2022.He flayed his first ball for six and holed out off his ninth, prompting former England skipper Michael Atherton to write in The Times: "He is not the Test captain in waiting."But then, who is?

Stokes backs Brook '100 percent' to succeed him as England Test captain

Ben Stokes backed Harry Brook to succeed him as England's Test captain after bowing out of international cricket, saying the gifted batsman had his "100 percent support".Stokes dramatically announced he would be retiring from England duty on Sunday's fourth afternoon of the third Test against New Zealand at Trent Bridge, saying he was "burnt out" after four years as skipper.The 35-year-old all-rounder, normally a middle-order batsman, then opened the innings as England tried to attack a stiff run chase of 373.But he was out before Sunday's close, with Stokes reduced to a spectator on his last day of England duty in Nottingham on Monday as New Zealand won by a thumping 160 runs to seal a 2-1 victory in a three-match series.Brook is already the captain of England's white-ball teams and is set to skipper the side in the first T20 against India at Chester-le-Street on Wednesday.The gifted 27-year-old batsman is also the official vice-captain of the Test team.But when Stokes was omitted from the second Test against New Zealand for breaking a midnight team curfew, it was former skipper Joe Root who took temporary charge of the team.Brook was denied the role after he was involved in an altercation with a nightclub bouncer in Wellington, New Zealand, ahead of England's woeful 2025/26 4-1 Ashes series loss in Australia -- an incident that led to the imposition of the curfew.'NATURAL PROGRESSION'Stokes, speaking to reporters at Trent Bridge after Monday's stumps, said: "There's a reason he (Brook) was asked to be vice-captain of this team. I know with all the controversy over the last couple of weeks, decisions were made. They were decisions I was not part of making."You are asked to be vice-captain for a reason, and I was vice-captain under Joe for a long time. It's the natural progression, if the captain is not there you step up."There is absolutely no reason why Harry shouldn't be asked to do that."Stokes said there was no way of knowing for sure if captaincy would boost or hinder Brook, who has an impressive batting average of over 53 in 38 Tests.But with England's three-Test series at home to Pakistan starting in August, Stokes had no doubts about the identity of the new red-ball skipper."If I was to be asked who I think should do it, I would be throwing my 100 percent support behind Harry Brook," he said. LESS ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT MCCULLUM, KEYStokes, however, was less enthusiastic about England head coach Brendon McCullum and managing director Rob Key, the other two architects of a 'Bazball' era seemingly now at end.Monday's reverse was England's seventh defeat in their last nine Tests and also sealed a rare series loss on home soil.Stokes, asked if McCullum and Key were still the men to take England forward, replied: "What me, Brendon and Rob have managed to do over four-and-a half-years, I'm not going to lie, it's been an interesting ride."We've had incredible highs and some pretty low lows as well. It's always worked and connected pretty well in terms of what we've wanted to achieve. It doesn't always work out the way you want it to work out."While Stokes intends to play on for county side Durham but he denied suggestions he could yet face arch-rivals Australia during next year's Ashes in England."I'm done," he said. "I've had a few questions asking whether I'll be able to sit on my sofa watching next year. I know it's the Ashes but I'll probably be watching it in a hospitality box somewhere."
