Drones disrupt flights at Denmark's Aalborg Airport

Denmark's Aalborg airport, used for commercial and military flights, was closed due to drones in its airspace, police said early on Thursday. This comes two days after the country's main Copenhagen airport was shut over drone sightings that raised European security concerns. Danish national police said the drones followed a similar pattern to the ones that had halted flights at Copenhagen airport for four hours a few days earlier. The closure of Aalborg airport also affected Denmark's armed forces because it is used as a military base, police added.

Russia claims downing 361 Ukrainian drones, launches coordinated strikes on battlefronts

Russia's Defense Ministry announced Sunday its forces had downed 361 Ukrainian drones and conducted a series of coordinated strikes on Ukrainian military positions along active frontlines.The ministry added in a statement that Russian operational—tactical aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, missile troops, and artillery units carried out attacks on 142 locations, including training centers for drone operators and temporary deployment points of Ukrainian armed formations.According to the statement, Russian air defense systems also intercepted four guided aerial bombs, a HIMARS missile, and the 361 unmanned aerial vehicles.The ministry reported that Russian forces targeted Ukrainian units in multiple areas of Donetsk, resulting in the loss of over 450 Ukrainian troops, along with combat vehicles and field artillery systems.Additionally, Russia's Northern Group of forces reportedly advanced deeper into Ukrainian defenses in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, inflicting further losses. The ministry estimated around 170 Ukrainian soldiers were killed, and several tanks, armored vehicles, field artillery, two electronic warfare stations, and six ammunition depots were destroyed.Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities claimed earlier on Sunday that their air defense units had intercepted or neutralized 52 Russian drones across the country's north, south, east, and central regions.Since the onset of the conflict on February 24, 2022, Russia and Ukraine have regularly issued conflicting battlefield reports, with most claims remaining unverified by independent sources.

Russia says it took out 1,150 Ukrainian troops, shot down 230 drones

The Russian forces succeeded in taking out 1,150 Ukrainian troops and shooting down 230 drones of the Ukrainian air defense systems, the Russian Defense Ministry reported in a statement on Tuesday. The statement added that the Russian troops optimized their military posture and took control of critical sites along numerous axes, targeting Ukrainian Armed Forces formations engaged across 140 locations along the frontlines. These operations resulted in the neutralization of 1,150 Ukrainian troops, along with the destruction of several armored combat vehicles, artillery systems, ammunition storage sites, and electronic warfare nodes, the statement continued. Russia and Ukraine have been trading, since the outbreak of the war in February 2022, near-daily reports on advances or the repelling of mutual attacks, without the ability to verify the accuracy of each side's data.

Testing AI, remotely controlled drones for environmental surveys

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) is conducting practical trials to employ modern technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and drones for carrying out surveys and monitoring of various environmental sites across the country. The ministry is scheduled to begin the implementation of this technology in 2026. The MoECC posted a video on its X account explaining that the drones will be controlled from the operations room. The drones are capable of carrying out fully automated missions without human intervention, in addition to identifying a target and tracking its movement with high precision. The AI analysis relies on heat sensors for detection, alongside the ability to fly over the sea to monitor sensitive environmental changes. The drones can also automatically return to their takeoff point once the mission is completed or in case of lost communication.
